Sky Terrace located on the bridge over Virginia Street from the Atlantis Parking lot to the main Hotel/Casino. I’ve eaten here a number of times, just haven’t rated it yet. Sushi, I’ve decided, all depends on the Sushi Chef. We were served pleasantly enough, but I found the sushi to be just okay. I’ve eaten here before and had one of the lady chef’s, who was great… she was fast and her sushi was wrapped tightly and didn’t fall apart when you picked it up. The«bridge» as I call it, is all glass, so it can get pretty warm there at certain times of the day. Sometimes AC is not enough to battle the sun. And next to the Sushi Bar is the Oyster Bar. so when it’s hot up there it sometimes get a little fishy smelling. So eat there in the evenings when the sun is not bearing down on you.

Sky Terrace Sushi is located in the hallway that connects the parking lot to the Atlantis Casino. Great views of the traffic on Virginia Street. Really it’s the best when it rains. It can get a bit hot up there thanks to the solar effect of all those window; at these times there’s a strong fish smell — not rotting fish just fishy. The sushi is standard AYCE fare. Kudos for having a hand roll section of the menu. Sure most rolls can be made into a hand roll but this section’s rolls that work best in hand form. My favorite is the Grilled Scallop Hand Roll — tiny bay scallops grilled perfectly then tossed into creamy Sriracha sauce. The grilled scallops top a few other rolls; I think it’s a signature item for them. At times the bar is packed and AYCE needs to be approved for service at a table. The female sushi chefs are record breaking fast. Before you finish ordering they’re usually handing you sushi. The staff is friendly and do an A-OK job! If you’re in Atlantis and are craving sushi it’s worth checking them out.

I’ve been meaning to write this review! Eh better late than never… I have ate at other establishments and maybe it was luck or perhaps the sky terrace IS simply great, but I had my 31st birthday dinner here in March and it was by far the best experience. The waitress who was attending our table was incredible, she refilled our waters before we noticed they were almost empty and was a mind reader in knowing what my guests and I needed. The price was reasonable and sushi presentation was fresh and beautiful. I will most certainly be back again.

It’s not the worst sushi I’ve ever eaten(see my review for Dish Sushi in Anchorage) but it is the second worst sushi I’ve ever eaten. The rice was mushy, like rice pudding. But it’s after 10pm at the Atlantis hotel and my options were limited. At least they have decent sake to wash the taste away.

Not a «seasoned» sushi goer, so I have little to draw on, but I truly enjoyed the meal! The smoked happy roll was delicious! And be sure to have the ginger ice cream for dessert!

Fish was fresh, rolls were good, options better than most sushi places in town. Would definitely come back here as opposed to the other places we’ve tried in Reno. One thing that stood out was the service, Pedram the server was super nice and very professional! He made our experience feel more personal than sushi at a Casino… Would recommend this sushi restaurant to those traveling thru or local!

This was a very pleasant experience. The staff was attentive and very professional. The food was perfect. Delicious and fresh. We spent the morning snowboarding and this was the perfect end to a wonderful day on the slopes. It would hard for me to recommend one item. Branch out and try something new. It’s all good.

Sushi spots are a dime a dozen in Reno, but few have the view and atmosphere of the Sky Terrace! With big, open windows on both sides of this structure, you can see clear down to South Reno and all the way up to Downtown! The blue carpet, tinted glass, and plants in the space bring the outside in, and on a sunny day, you could swear you were seated on a nice, covered patio. I’ve never been here for an AYCE experience, nor have I ever sat at the sushi bar, but the a la carte offerings I’ve enjoyed, including their sashimi sampler(which includes six slices of fish beautifully presented), Jason and salmon skin hand rolls, and Sierra Roll with spicy surimi crab, tempura shrimp, salmon, ebi, avocado, cilantro, thin lemon slices and teriyaki sauce, have all been fantastic. So why 3 stars? It’s actually more like 3.5 in this situation, but I just can’t seem to round it up because of the service. If you’ve read my sushi reviews, you know I ALWAYS sit a the bar, but because of larger parties I just haven’t been able to do that here yet. I figured sitting at a table would be fine because the Atlantis has some pretty high standards for food and service in their dining program, but the Sky Terrace has left me wanting in the service department on more than one occasion. Empty, dirty plates left on the table, slow delivery of drinks, and awkwardly timed table visits with no attention paid to obvious service opportunities missed are among a few of the faux pas I’ve endured here. It may seem minor to some, but when you’re seated at a four top table with soy sauce and keno cards taking up the center, plates left behind start to invade your personal space and leave you with a less than stellar dining experience. With a little more attention paid to the guest experience here, this will become a four, or even 5-Star review. They have all everything going for them, but the table service, as with most sushi spots, needs work.

I used to eat here often, last couple of times was just okay, including today. Also lunch price is now $ 19.99 for lunch and doesn’t include any appetizers nor mussels. The one plus is rolls come out relatively fast.

My fiancé and I came here last night for AYCE sushi and we can’t think of anything good to say about our experience. The chefs were extremely slow. It took them 15mins to bring our first order. The«sushi» were just rolled up rice with avocado and unagi sauce on top. I was only able to eat 2 rolls. We both felt sick after eating here and I threw up not too long after. The servers were literally standing behind us waiting for us to leave because it was ALMOST closing time(11:50pm). That made us uncomfortable because the restaurant is NOT closed yet. Not going back to this place.

I usually try to visit a place 2 – 3 times before I review in case the place is just having a bad night. We went back the for the third time the other night and unfortunately it still was a 2 star for me. We went to Bistro Napa but they were on an hour and a half wait, so I thought we would give sky terrace one more try… disappointed. First if you have never been there, it is a cool concept. The entire place overlooks the road and it is a cool place atmosphere. We walked up to the hostess and we were told it was a 15 – 20 minute wait. Usually I do not mind waiting, the problem here is, if you are not a gambler(we are not) there is no place to sit and wait. I do not want to go sit at their slot machines and take up space when I am not going to gamble. Anywhere I stand there because of the nature of where the restaurant is I feel like i am in the way of patrons, or the wait staff. I mean just a couch somewhere would be nice. We were seated and had to wait about 10 minutes before our server arrived to take a drink order. Our server was a really nice man BUT language was a barrier. My husband was trying to get recommendations and ask questions about the oysters and I think he did not understand what he was asking… the same problem with the sushi. We both tried to find different ways to ask the questions, but he just didn’t seem to understand what we were asking. The food came quickly and it was not what we were wanting. My hubby again tried to explain but no luck. We ended up not eating the meal paying our bill and leaving. Every time we go there is something that happens that we just do not have a good experience. I will say they are very attentive about keeping glasses full ect. Maybe some day I will go and have a good experience but for now there are too many great places in Reno.

If I can go to Reno at least once a week, just to eat at this place, I would! They are the absolute best for AYCE sushi. You’re seated at the sushi bar and can order at your heart’s desire. The sushi chefs are very friendly and can recommend all types of items to try. There’s usually 1 chef to 3 groups of people. The bar can fill up so it’s good to allow for some wait time. Unless you’re like me and arrive at 1030am just waiting for the restaurant to open. They also have standard dining if you’d rather sit at a table and order from the menu(like oysters). Everything we’ve had has been exceptional! The seafood is always fresh and customer service seems to be a top priority. It’s also a cool place to have dinner since the restaurant is located on a walkway(«terrace») above the main street. I sometimes daydream about this place… it’s that good.

I have been here handful of times and have finally sat down to write a review. We came here late on a Thursday night and were seated right away. We were greeted by the server within a couple of minutes and she was very friendly and bubbly. She gave us great service throughout our entire meal. The sushi was fresh and the long rolls are about twice the size of what you get in most restaurants. We were quite impressed. We also ordered the shrimp scampi and that was REALLY good also. Very hot with a nice touch of butter and white wine. The servings were huge for this platter too. We had so many leftovers that it could have easily made another meal. The bread was warm and refilled quickly. The drink menu is decent for being in a casino and for being an oyster bar. I will definitely be back here for some late night sushi. They are open until 10:30 which is great for any late night sushi cravings. Most places around Reno/Sparks close at 9 pm.

This is my go to sushi lunch stop. I have eaten here many times. Consistently fantastic! I have always had stellar service, sushi rolls are amazing. It is always full when I go. Full of business folks having lunch, entertaining clients. They provide a fantastic atmosphere to discuss business. The place is clean, never a wait, competitive pricing, stellar service, and good food. The perfect storm for a restaurant. I recommend.

The worst sushi I’ve ever had in my life! The fish was so old, dry and smelled awful. We ordered two rolls and an Albacore sushi which we only took a bite of before asking for the check because it was so bad. The waiter didn’t ask if anything was wrong when he took away the full plates of food either. So nasty I wouldn’t recommend to anyone :(

No no no no no on the sushi. I’m sorry to say that I was really dissatisfied with the quality of the food here. My family & I took a 3 day trip to South Lake Tahoe & Reno for my sisters birthday, and being the sushi fanatics that we are, I suggested we eat here — — BADIDEA — The fish did not taste fresh, the rice tasted old & stale, and the rolls we ordered kept falling apart. They also used the same sauce on almost every single roll, so everything pretty much tasted the same. My sister & I did the all-you-can-eat option for $ 26.99(dinner), but only ordered 1 round of sushi. Ugh, so much for $ 26.99… My mom on the other hand had a better food experience; she ordered the seafood fettuccini w/prawns & mussels for $ 19 and enjoyed every bite of it. My sister & I had a couple bites of her pasta as well, and both wished we had ordered the same thing instead. On the other hand, the service is GREAT. We had 3 different food servers help us, and all of them were wonderful — very polite, welcoming, and pleasant.((We ended up leaving a little over 20% tip because they were so great)). The only person who rubbed me the wrong way was the hostess. In the beginning there was an Asian family ahead of me waiting to be seated, and when the hostess asked them if they wanted to sit at a table or at the bar, it looked as if the Asian family had a hard time hearing or understanding. The hostess then goes in a loud and condescending tone, «DOOOOYOUUUUWANTTOSITTTTAT A TABLEEEEEEORATTHEBARRRRRRR???»(and rolled her eyes). I wanted to smack the sh*t out of her and say something, but knowing how I can get when it comes to ignorant people like that, I didn’t want to ruin my sisters birthday dinner. Overall, I’m most likely never to return again. Who knows? Maybe their other dishes(minus the sushi) are good like the fettuccini my mom had. And who knows? Maybe that rude snotty hostess will eventually get fired. 1 star for the seafood fettuccini & seaweed + cucumber salad 1 star for the food servers.

A food craving can sometimes belie rationale. You can’t be too smart to crave for seafood in a non-coastal town like Reno where the nearest ocean is at least 200 miles away. My buddy was exactly that… not being too smart and rational! He had this craving set while we were in Reno and we resorted to Unilocal for help. The name«Sky Terrace» popped out as one of the premier seafood restaurants in the area. The other negative is its location inside a casino, the Atlantis, and we are both sensitive to cigarette smoke. Bingo! Sky Terrace is a non-smoking restaurant! It is a seafood restaurant complete with a sushi bar and an oyster bar in a sea of blue colored décor… from the counters, tabletops and comfy padded chairs to the soothing blue lightings behind the sushi bar and oyster bar. It projected an ocean theme although it did appear a little too gaudy for my liking. The huge glass panes provided stunning views of Reno with its bright city lights, Virginia Street that it spanned over like an overhead bridge and the Sierra Nevada in the background. We sat at a table, as we weren’t planning on sushi. The sushi bar smelled a little off putting(not obnoxious) like a fish market and besides we were more into the other seafood offerings. A basket of fresh bread started us off as we perused the extensive menu that featured Alaskan king crab, lobsters, clams, shrimp cocktails and a unique array of pan roasts in a tempting mix of oysters and seafood. All-You-Can-Eat sushi was not in my book and I never had any good sushi experiences in Reno. I was talked into trying a jiveass roll by my bud, ridiculously named«Tsunami» Roll($ 6.95). I wouldn’t even attempt to guess how the name came about but I was pleasantly surprised that its taste exceeded my expectation! It had good flavors… spicy fresh snow crabmeat with very little mayo, cilantro, avocado and jalapenos. The taste was more akin to a burrito sans tortillas but wrapped in nori(seaweed). Sushi rice was not too well seasoned but adequate as a burrito!(4⁄5) The New England Lobster Roll sounded like a steal priced at $ 14.99. It was a traditional Maine lobster roll with mayo, chopped parsley and celery on a warm brioche bun. After the first bite, I hate to let the cat out of the bag. It wasn’t meat from a live lobster but a frozen lobster. Other than that, the recipe followed closely to the real stuff from Maine(3⁄5). The roll came with a cup of clam chowder and we opted for the Lobster Bisque. I wasn’t impressed with the bisque as it was too creamy, salty and lacked the crustacean flavor be it lobster, crab or shrimp.(2⁄5) The Cioppino Mediterranean($ 19.99) was a generous portion simmered in a zesty wine and tomato sauce with chockfull of the usual stuffs like mussels, scallops, shrimps and tilapia fish. Shoot! No calamari and tentacles in a cioppino like in the North Beach or SF’s Fisherman’s Wharf? I was a little disappointed but the broth was tasty enough although not the best. I’m just being picky with my cioppino coming from the Bay Area but would still like to give props to the chef!(4⁄5) It was a nice respite for us for a couple of hours from the outside world with the bright and sexy lightings that were almost Disneylandish. It seemed like we were waiting for our next ride in Disneyland eating in a big restaurant that was packed, noisy and not conducive to quiet conversation. The dining experience was unique to say the least!

If you want a relaxing, upscale, yet casual place for lunch or dinner you can’t go wrong at the Oyster or Sushi Bar on the smoke free– Sky Terrace(overlooking South Virginia Street) at the Atlantis. I stopped for lunch on this day and wanted to be seated at a table with a view outside. For those who don’t know, they do offer all you can eat sushi while seated at the sushi bar. At the tables you can still order sushi(or anything else on the Oyster bar menu) but sushi is not all you can eat there. I wanted to have my cake and eat it too so I sat at a table and ordered a house salad along with one Philly roll. The salad was a good sized dinner/side salad with an assortment of fresh veggies and seasoned croutons. My philly roll, while a little too heavy on the rice and light on the salmon was still very fresh and good and was cut into pieces that were nice and small enough to eat easily. Sushi lovers know this isn’t always the case. bonus you get a basket of fresh bread if you sit at the tables as well. My server Kathlyn, was very attentive and friendly and couldn’t have done a better job.

AMBIANCE: I liked the fact it’s a sky terrace so you get to sit by the window with a view of the main street and lights. I’m sure it’s a different feel if you come here during the day. Cafeteria type feel with the umbrellas and the serving stations in the middle you can see the servers prepping and getting your food together. Also could smell the dishwasher smell like at cafeterias, which personally I don’t like that smell and smells kind of bad and nauseating to me. FOOD: Clam chowder was decent with fresh ground pepper offered by the server. I had the new fish entrée, which I liked the fish, but didn’t like all the buttery sauce stuff on top. Made it way too buttery I ended up scraping it off to prevent from getting clogged arteries. Gave a hefty portion of rice though. I liked the bread they give you on the table especially the flat spiced seasoned cracker. SERVICE: Our server was super nice, I think she was Russian she had an accent, but was really polite and soft spoken. OVERALL: I thought this place was ok, not bad, but not super good for 4 or 5 stars.

This is a tradition of sorts — we have to eat here when we come to Reno. Save the money and avoid the crowds by coming for lunch instead of dinner.(The«all you care to eat» sushi special is 18.99 from 11a to 4p and 26.994p to close.) It can get extremely busy here when there are events at the casino or on the weekends, so if you want more attention from the sushi chef then come on an off-day/off-peak time. Our favorites are the quail egg nigiri with tobiko, the Paradise and Tiger rolls, and the creamy green tea ice cream for dessert. We’ve never had a bad meal here. Yes, it can get busy — but that’s a GOOD thing. We’ve never had fish here that wasn’t fresh. I’m not a sushi snob and I don’t expect Jiro-level artistry every time I eat sushi. So for what it’s worth, this is as good as it gets in Reno. Don’t forget: the sushi chefs don’t split tips with the waitstaff, so if you really liked your service, make sure you tip the chef directly.
