So delicious! A hidden little deli spot behind St. James Infirmary — great sandwiches and perfect on a nice day to sit outside and enjoy. Great sandwiches — a little messy so be prepared and they even gave us each a cookie on our order! I got a side Thai salad, definitely not my favorite but it was good. Wish they had side salads too as an option!

This review is long overdue now that I’ve moved away from Reno. I usually don’t eat sandwiches. — I find a lot of sandwiches dry and bland but the sandwiches here are always so delicious and aesthetically pleasing. I ate at Rubicon deli a bunch of times and loved every time! I only get half sandwiches as it’s more than enough to fill me up. I think my favorites are the Hog’s Breath and Spicy Tuna. I love their cheesy jalapeño bread as it gives the sandwich more texture. The quality of the produce is very good as well. I haven’t tried the soup or salads but I hear their tomato soups are the bees knees. And that cookie… so soft and such a sweet way to end your meal. The shop itself is very dimly lighted and a bit quiet, but when it’s a nice summer day I recommend eating outside! They bring your food over to you which is a plus. The people there are very friendly and upbeat. I highly recommend this place!

Wanted a bite on our way to Idaho and this hit the spot. Great sandwiches on fresh bread with crisp, fresh toppings. Service was fast and friendly. Sandwiches were huge and flavorful — the turkey was house roasted(not processed deli meat shavings). My husband and I easily shared a full sandwich with a cup of hot soup. The soup hit the spot on a cold day. The kids loved the chocolate chip cookies that came with the meals! I really appreciate it when I can find a place that feels like good food is a priority. We will definitely be back again!

The food was good, but not amazing. I got a half sandwich that looked like a normal sized sandwich, so you get a lot of food. For the price though, it wasn’t as satisfying as I expected it to be. The sandwich just could’ve been better.

I’m pretty pissed right now. I bought a couple of sandwiches from here. $ 10.00 for a half sandwich. The sandwich was only ok as far as I’m concerned. I’m fairly sure my sandwich was as good as the people that give this place 5 stars. What supremely pisses me off is that the au jus in the bag(that I didn’t even know was in there) leaked all over the passenger seat of my brand new 2015 car.

I am completely obsessed with this sandwich shop and even more so now that I work 3 blocks away! I have yet to have a bad meal here. Right when you walk in this small quaint little place you are greeted by the sweetest lady who will take your order. They have a wide variety of selections from pulled pork to turkey to veggie sandwiches, salads and soups. They have fresh made bread every day and the best part about their sandwiches are the different kinds of mustard’s you can choose! Pretty much every time I go, I get the spicy tuna sandwich(half) because the whole is huge and you have to be pretty dang hungry to eat it all! The spicy tuna has a heaping pile of onion, lettuce, tomato and yummy pickles along with a habanero mustard. YUM! My husband always get the Rubicon special which is always really good as well, it includes turkey, roasted red pepper, cheese and lettuce. They ambiance inside this place is quiet with always good music playing the background. I love going here for a quick, easy and absolutely delicious lunch!

This place was good and bad. The bad: *I got a Greek kale salad. There was no kale. At all. It was pretty smallish and was $ 10.(I would say only slightly larger than any restaurants house sald you can get for about $ 5.) *The parking is pretty bad. *The lady taking orders leaves a lot to be desired with customer service.(She had an attitude with every customer, including those on the phone). *Overpriced($ 13 for a tuna sandwhich??) The good: *The food is yummy. *Cute, quaint lunch place(they close about 4). *Interesting, unique options. *Food made perfectly to order. In the end, the front counter lady and the prices could deter me from returning, but I will most likely give this place a second chance.

My favorite thing about Rubicon is their Tomato Soup. It’s got gorganzola in it, and let me tell you it really makes all the difference. I’m not a huge tomato soup fan, actually I never order it until my boss let me try hers on day. That fateful day started a never ending addiction to the soup. Summer, Winter, rain, or shine you can bet that I will eat that tomato soup. Seriously, you have to try it. Now, about the other food… delicious, of course. I really enjoy their salads. I think I’ve had everyone. The Rubicobb is my go to because it has such a variety of ingredients. Although sometimes I do for the Greek Kale. I really dig the dressing and it is lighter than the cobb. If I get a sandwich, its always the Rich Boy. I frequent here at least twice a week for work, and don’t get tired of it.

This place makes great sandwiches. My husband and I spit the large pastrami sandwich on Dutch crunch($ 14) and it was awesome. The pastrami was tender and tasted home made and the crunchy red cabbage took the texture to the next level. There is outdoor seating and the restaurant is in a convenient part of town. This place is not a chain store so expect to pay a premium for their sandwiches. Every sandwhich we’ve had here has been excellent, had decent portions, and we are always satisfied with what we ordered.

I’m up in the air about this place, I was underwhelmed by my salad but I was really impressed by my daughter’s whipper snapper. Same for my friend she paid ten bucks for a tiny bowl of soup and salad, but her son’s sandwich was glorious. The people were very nice and the service was amazingly fast! The biggest downfall to this place is the parking, they have the parking from hell. It seriously detracts from an otherwise cool little place.

I love the acai bowls and the rubicon special sandwich on the cheesy jalapeño bread! The peppery spread on the sandwiches is super yummy and they are huge! Love that even though I order a half it fills me up!

Love this place. Everything from the fresh baked sandwich breads, fresh salads, and super friendly staff. We were visiting Reno from So. Cal and were introduced to Rubicons by local family. It’s gonna be our new favorite place to eat when we visit. They also have 2 locations in San Diego. We will be trying them soon. Prices are more than your chain sandwich shops, but you get who you pay for. it’s totally worth it. I spoke for quite a while with the owner. I know in a previous review she was noted as being unfriendly. I personally didn’t find that to be the case. She took some time to talk and was cordial. I don’t know, everybody has an off day now and then. I do know that the food was fresh and delicious.

I’m glad the«no dogs» sign was removed, if my over friendly dogs aren’t allowed in the patio I have no reason to eat here.

One of my favorite sandwich spots in all of Reno. Ingredients, presentation and taste all 5+ stars. My personal faves are the Spicy Tuna, Rubicon Special, and the Crandie. The Acai Bowl is also quite delicious if you’re in the mood for something sweet without feeling too guilty. My only major gripe is the owner. She has great staff and the quality control is seemingly excellent so I can’t fault her on how she runs that side of her business, but she isn’t the friendliest person I’ve ever met. She would be well-served by letting others handle checkout and working in the back. Either that or learn how to say ‘hello’ and ‘have a nice day’ once in while. It’s really not so hard. Most days it seems like she couldn’t care less that you’re there. Also, don’t expect Subway prices, but you do get what you pay for. Half sandwiches are as big as others full-size so unless you’re sharing or starving, there is no need to order a full sandwich.

I’ve been here twice now, and each time the food has been great! My sister introduced me to this place, and I have to say that I’m quite enamored! It can be a little hard to find as the sign isn’t super obvious, but if you do the speed limit and actually look at your surroundings you’ll find it easily enough. On my first trip, I got the Dapper Dipper(tri-tip) on the Bleu Cheese bread with extra horseradish. It was, hands down, the BEST tri tip sandwich I have ever had. The meat was tender, flavorful(but not overly salty), and despite having only gotten half a sandwich there was enough left over to take to my husband(he said it was delicious despite being cold). I don’t remember what my sister got, but she had some sort of tomato bisque soup with hers and it was amazing! I’m not usually fan of deli-soups, but this one was great! On my second trip, I went with my husband and got the Crandie(again on the Bleu Cheese bread) while he got the Ol’ Smokey. Both were good, but didn’t quite meet up to the first trip, but admittedly, we were there during the lunch rush. The meatballs on my husband’s sandwich were amazing, but when paired with a thin, and slightly lackluster, red sauce they lost some of their momentum. Once again, I ordered half a sandwich and had plenty left over. All in all this is a place I will return to, and I’m sure, enjoy!

If you are getting lunch during business hours I suggest calling your order in ahead! I stopped in last week around 1pm and every table inside and outside was full! It is definitely the warmer weather bringing everyone out in Reno. I waited in a small line, placed my to-go order, and went to grab a stool out of the way. It had been awhile since I’ve been in here and the menu on the wall isn’t everything they have to offer. Be sure to pick up one of the flyers they have which denotes the entire menu. It bugged me a bit that all of the options weren’t openly displayed on the wall. My order today was half of a Hogs Breath sandwich minus the avocado, onion, and mustard. Be prepared: The sandwiches are BIG and I cannot imagine a time where I could actually finish more than just the half. Today I ate half of my half and saved the other portion for leftovers. If you are getting the sandwich to go it arrives neatly wrapped up in brown paper with a cookie on top. I thought that was a nice touch, however the cookie was hard and pretty much inedible. The sandwich was thankfully much better. I got it on a Dutch Crunch bread. It added a nice crisp texture to my sandwich. The combination of meats and condiments made for a perfect lunch. I really enjoyed the chipotle mayo since it added a little heat and a lot of flavor without being overly spicy. The cashier was upbeat, polite, and chatty(in a good way). I really enjoyed the limited interaction I had with her which left a smile on my face. The guy who brought out my food was also very nice. Overall, this was a great sandwich and some wonderful customer service too. The experience left me happy and full, always a good sign!

I used to go here every week but my work is too far away now to make it feasible during the week, but I still make it most weekends because this is the best deli in Reno. The have a great variety of bread choices and it’s all made fresh daily. Go earlier in the day to make sure they have a full selection as they do run out of certain flavors later in the day. You can call in your order too to save time for pickup. They have a number of different cheese and specialty add-ons for your sandwich including pesto mayo and hot peppers. I’d suggest getting a full sandwich to save a couple bucks and save one half for later(each half is huge and easily a meal in itself). They also have half sandwich and soup specials. I’ve never tried the soup but my roommate says they make pretty good soup too. Service is always fast and friendly and they have some tables inside and small outside patio if you want to eat there. Bottom line, if you haven’t tried this place yet, you need to go now.

Just OK food and service. High prices considering the portion size and quality/taste. I ordered the turkey sandwich with cranberry(I forget the name) on dutch crunch bread. Bread was flavorless and hard, but not in a good freshly baked crunchy way. The serving size of meat was noticeably small. Price was $ 8 for the half sandwich portion, which seemed high considering zero sides are provided($ 14 for full size). My wife’s corned beef reuben sandwich was a similar experience. I did really like the taste of the cup of tomato bisque soup($ 4 extra) and the side of potato salad($ 3 extra). Serving size on both were noticeably small(potato salad was the size of an ice cream scoop, maybe 1 – 2 inches diameter). Iced tea and lemonade were refreshing, but they made me pay for refills($ 1). A very small cookie(1 inch diameter) was included with the sandwich. I could live with the quality, if the serving size was more reasonable(trying a different bread next time). $ 18 for my barely-filling meal was not what I expect for a deli lunch.

A few warnings before you go: 1 — Come here hungry 2 — Do not be on a diet 3 — Only order a whole sandwich if you are sharing or just finished a marathon. My go to sandwich is the Dom Pastrami on their garlic cheese roll and add horseradish. It is so good! I had one just yesterday and paired it with their lemonade(not too sweet and a great thirst quencher!) I’ve ready the other reviews and have NEVER had a bad experience or a «rude» owner. This is a gem within Reno and I really enjoy going here.

I have to say that I was a little worried about coming to Rubicon. After reading reviews about the so called«rude» lady at the counter, I thought I was about to encounter someone similar to Seinfeld’s soup nazi. I was glad to see the lady there… and I am even happier to say that I had absolutely no problems with here. I think her intensity is mistaken for being rude. Just watching her run the line and the back… she was not going to put up with any flaws in her business. I really appreciate that. The sandwiches were definitely the star here. Holy shmoles… I keep thinking about that gluten free focaccia bread. I don’t have any gluten allergies but the taste and texture really worked well with the sandwiches. I’ve also tried the blue cheese bread… oh, and the garlic bread. Everything was just perfect and delicious. We’ve been here twice now and we’ve tried: spicy tuna, the godmother, rich boy, and the rubicon special. I freakin loved all of them. I also tend to watch my carbs so I’ve been ordering my sandwiches scooped. This is where they take out the meat of the bread. I really love that they even have this option. You can also get any sandwich as a salad. 5 solid stars. My favorite sandwich place in Reno.
