Powder Room

I came to powder room after JeNes Carter moved here. She has done my nails a few times now and everytime she has completely blown me away. Her nail art is always beautiful and my nails are super sturdy, withstanding roller derby practices and just my overall clumsiness. The powder room itself is an adorable salon that offers a wide range of services at really reasonable prices. I LOVE this place. Would definitely recommend this place.

Love my gel nails by Dawn; she can do any type of design I ask! Another service I receive there are eyelashes by Amber, she is always professional and her work is excellent! Both these ladies are fantastic! Everyone here is friendly and a cute salon as well :)

Angelica at The powder room has been doing my nails for years now. I am always impressed by her courteousness and of course strong design esthetic. I’m so happy to have found her here at the powder room. And I absolutely love the pedicure set up. So relaxing and soo cute. Can’t wait for my next appointment.

Heard this place is good but can’t get a return phone call — have called at least 6 times and left 2 messages — and they don’t have a website so can’t email. Suggestions? Help?

Angelica is the best in the old south-​west and all of Reno! She always does an amazing job and is always so professional. The atmosphere of the Powder Room is so relaxed and I really like the décor. 5 stars :)

I am very disappointed and angry with The Powder Room. I have called about 5 times and left several messages, but no one has returned my calls. I never got a chance to even make an appointment. I purchased an awesome groupon deal for a gel mani and spa pedi, but obviously it will go to waste since no one will return my call. It saddens me deeply. So I WARN you about buying a groupon deal or even trying to make an appointment with them. I feel like this is horrible customer service and I hate to even give them a 1 star!

I see Angelica for nails and she does a great job. She charges $ 39 for a gel manicure and has never charged extra for designs, glitter, etc. When I need a full set, it’s $ 59 and she makes the tips out of gel so the nails are natural looking, not clunky. I always bring a photo and she recreates it. I recommend trying her out for nails.

This place is so freakin adorable it instantly makes me all sunshine and lollipops when i come in. There is nothing better than a soft soothing atmosphere when you are trying to take some «you» time during your busy day.
They always take their time to make your nails perfection. and with comfy seats and lots of natural light, it is so nice to just unwind.
I mainly come here to get my eyelashes done and eyebrows waxed by Amber. She is literally the best. She always takes time to figure out what look i am going for so i don’t come out looking like a las vegas show girl, but i’m sure she could do that too if thats the look you are going for. I always get lots of compliments on my eyelashes and eyebrows and am constantly being asked for Powder Room’s info.
Parking can be kind of a pain, there is a tiny parking lot in the back that they share with the hair salon next door, so i usually just park on the street. Its in a nice location, in a converted older home, super quaint. Just love, love, love.

Of all the «deals» I have purchased for massage, Nicole is possibly the best masseuse of them all. Her technique is spot on, she makes you feel very pampered and her room/​music invites relaxation. I went to Nicole three times and was never disappointed. Definitely recommend!

Angelica is the best nail professional in town by far! I always love my nails and I get more compliments than I ever have before. You won’t be disappointed!

Christina does a fabulous job and uses her own line of exceptional quality, custom products. She books up quickly, so be sure to call in advance. The salon is also very cozily appointed by a professional Pottery Barn interior designer.

I went here on ¹¹⁄₃ for a gel manicure & regular pedicure. I loved it and definitely plan on going as regularly as possible. The service was perfect. Christina Parker is so nice and did a great job. I was pleased w/​the prices too. I cannot regularly go for these types of services because they are so expensive, however here they are totally reasonable. I am not a fan of the assembly line mani/​pedi type places. I enjoy the one on one experience and this place is perfect!

This was the cutest little spa I’ve been to in Reno. Christina was my manicurist and she was so nice and did an awesome, thorough job. They have a great selection of nail polishes so I didn’t feel like I should have brought my own, and the whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable. I’ve already booked my next mani!

The powder room is a «pottery-​barn-​esque» little spa. Very cozy with rustic charming touches. Everyone there is warm and welcoming. Recently, I had an amazing pedicure by Christina. She really knows how to give a relaxing, pampered pedi. My toes looked great and the foot massage was awesome. I will definitely be back!

I just discovered this place through a living social deal for a one hour massage. I’ve never had a real massage before, so I thought I would give it a try. The massage therapist who took care of me was named Nicole and she is freaking amaaaaazing!
She is very friendly, professional, and skilled in her craft. I received a full body massage from her which really relaxed me and left me feeling great. She gave great pressure when required, and was very receptive to all of my feedback. I do have some shoulder problems which I told her about, and she was very gentle with it while at the same time working the muscles to get the blood flowing to that area.
The ambiance of the powder room is great. Everyone there seems kind, it’s very clean, and you immediately feel welcome as soon as you step in the door.
I’m not one to treat myself to stuff like this, especially with the economy doing so poorly, but I think I am going to adjust my budget so I can see Nicole at least once a month.

This is a story about the Powder Room, and I’ll get there, but there’s a prelude to this romance that you must know first: Among some of my closer friends, I am known as «Ling». This nickname came up because I happen to be really pretty good at plucking eyebrows, and I’m Asian, and — well — as friends do, we got to joking about this fact. Ling’s cousin «May» is really pretty great at doing nails, and is another one of my alter-​egos. In fact, if this interior design thing doesn’t work out I may open up my own salon where my Asian half will be the supreme esthetician to and my white side will — I don’t know… embezzle the money and cook the books.
Anyhow, I digress… I have often thought how lucky my friends are that they have this friend who they trust who can work on them while they relax in the living room and get these services done in such a carefree setting. The Powder Room is the first place that has made me feel like I’m just sitting around in my girlfriend’s living room but my friend Shanna is this amazing esthetician and her cousin (not really), Nicole is this amazing masseuse. The girls are really just that friendly and inviting. The place feels nice but not precocious, casual but professional, and the services are top notch.
I live in San Francisco, in a posh neighborhood with about 12 overpriced «best» rated spas and salons in a two block radius of my apartment, but can easily say that the Powder Room has given me an equal or better experience than many of them, and at about ½ the price. We’ll be back — at least once a year. Thanks ladies!

I recently went to the Powder Room for a repair and fill on my nails. I had gone to the business Soak previously and they did a horrible job and were rude, unprofessional, and way too expensive. My nails were literally falling apart two days after I got them done! I spoke to one of my friends and she recommended Summer at Powder Room. She saw me the same day and was amazing. She gave me a complete
New set of nails and was patient every step of the way. I give her my highest recommendation and thank u Summer for the amazing new nails!

I am really enjoying going to this place. The shop is small and inviting, clean and very well lit thanks to the large windows. Perhaps I’m just biased because I really like the old houses in that area (Old SW Reno), but I absolutely love the location. Street parking can be a bit of a pain sometimes — but only if you’re lazy and expect to park right in front of the shop. There’s plenty of parking along Liberty across the street, just watch how long you’re parked there!
This review is mostly for the lovely lady that does my nails, Summer. I’ve been getting gels from her for almost two months now, and we have fun making up new ways to decorate them each time. I’m pretty particular and I also like to experiment with my nails, and my ideas always seem to be a bit of a pain in the butt (and take a bit longer) — but she does it and has fun, and chats with me the whole time! I never feel like I’m a pain for wanting to try new things.
This last time, for example, I wanted to put a normal polish color on them — but they don’t quite dry properly underneath the gel finish. Soooo… we made the appointment extra long, started my nails and got the polish on them, and then did a pedicure in the middle so that they’d set properly! It was a long appointment, but it was fun the whole time. I also ended up being allergic to the massage lotion during my pedicure (I’m allergic to EVERYTHING — it was 100% no fault of Summer’s or the shop’s, just a typical trial/​error thing for me and lotions). Summer got the lotion off of me VERY quickly, and had prepared for it ahead of time just in case because I’d warned her. Because she was so quick with her reaction, my allergic reaction went away on my legs within a few hours. THANKS SUMMER!
Also, everyone working there seems to have their own specials going on each month or for every few months; I have heard three people there now discuss their ideas for new specials. Call and check on it — this last visit, because I had two services (gel nails filled and a pedicure), I got the second one half off!!! Keep in mind, that was Summer’s special, and they aren’t all the same as far as I know.
