This deli reminds me of a deli where I grew up in Oakland. It was called Genoa deli and they were an old school Italian deli. Paisan’s is the same, they specialize in making simply good sandwiches. You heard of that saying, K.I.S.S. It stands for keep it simple stupid. Paisan’s does that and more. They make sandwiches with the highest quality meats and cheeses, but with very little additional toppinngs. I added tomatoes and lettuce and onion, and that was it. The bread is fresh everyday. It truly was a enlightening experience when I took the first bite. You really could taste the sour dough in the roll. The roll itself was like a soft pillow with air pockets of flavor. Most sandwiches the bread is used to hold the meat and veggies, and is almost an afterthought. Kind of like tires on a car but everyone looks and listens to the engine. I can tell you the engine is good, but without the tires the car will not go anywhere. I could have ate just the roll by itself. I Will most definitely be back.

This place is…(okay, I’m gonna say it) AMAZEBALLS!!! I found this place via my Unilocal app while attending a class on a side of town I am not normally in. It was fairly easy to find due to the large flags shadowing Longley Lane. Parking was another story. The small parking lot was jam packed with cars to the point where people were making parking spaces along every open inch of curb. I lucked out and got a spot right in front after a patron had pulled out as if on cue. The parking lot really should have warned me but I had no idea what I was in for. As soon as I opened that door I was blasted with fantastic smells, laughing customers and the roar of endless chatter among everyone enjoying lunch. I stood at the back of the line, which, to my delight moved very quickly and nervously glanced around the small, plain deli desperately hoping to see an empty chair so I wouldn’t have to eat in my car. I spotted on in the back corner and quickly moved to it after placing my order. First off — the menu here is pretty large. They have sandwiches of course but you can also enjoy a salad, pasta salads and other specials. They have a gluten free menu as well! This is not like a boring Port of Subs or Subway where you order and move down the line and take your sandwich wrapped up in paper. Far from it in fact. I sat down with my tea, almost took two full sips and was very pleased to see an employee standing at my table with a glass plate and bowl full of my Artichoke Tortellini and my Papa Zena sandwich on Dutch Crunch.(Papa Zena includes Prosciutto, Mozzarella and Tomato Basil. Never in a million years would I have thought that a place this busy would be so fast to serve! The Tortellini was hands down wonderful — I would order it again. By itself. Just because. The Sandwich was equally awesome. Listen folks, prosciutto isn’t cheap and I was worried that it would include 2 or 3 slices but the sandwich was stacked!!! It was full of flavor and the dutch crutch was the best I have tasted in awhile — it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside just as a dutch crunch roll should be. When I was done my server came back out and took my plate smiling and asking me if I enjoyed lunch. The cost was $ 13.95 which would get a tad pricey every day but is worth it at Paisan’s. I cannot believe that I just found this place! I’ll be back on a regular basis! **Tip — the sandwiches are a good size and if you are a female and not famished you might want to do a ½ sandwich along with a pasta because I had a hard time eating it all.

So I found this place on Goupon. Bought a couple of coupons. Address said Longley, which is a bit away from downtown, but it really wasn’t all that far away. Nestled in a business area, Paisan’s Old World Deli has been around for 21 years… surprised me. I used to live in the Double Diamond area and passed through this area many times… just plain never notice it. Anyway, had their Italian Sandwich(surprise)… cold cuts, cheese, peppers, onions, mayo, mustard, oil & vinegar on Dutch Crunch bread. It was quite good. My daughter had the eggplant on foccacia which she enjoyed. Service will quick, you order at the deli counter and they deliver to your table. Not a fancy place, but they had a fair amount of indoor seating and some outdoor seating for better weather. Looks like they probably pick up most of their business from catering and from the local businesses. I would definitely eat there again. Wish I had more of an appetite, wanted to try some of the salads which looked pretty good. Found the place easy enough with GPS, but Italian«flag banner» outside helped a lot. Give it a try…

We’ve had Paisan’s cater for our office twice now. How did it take so long to get hooked up with such an awesome sandwich shop?!? We’ve gotten a variety tray of sandwiches, and so far, each sandwich is really reallly good. You know how sometimes when you get the variety pack there are a few options that nobody seems to want to eat? Not the case here. All were popular. My favorites were the thick sliced roast beef, both with pesto and horseradish(two separate sammies). There’s also a thin sliced roast beef with a smoked gouda that’s awesome. Ooh and a prosciutto sandwich, also great. Lots of sandwiches had a tomato pesto that was super good too. And for a special treat, I recommend popping most of the sandwiches in the toaster oven to crunch them up a bit and melt the cheese, and OOOOOH that’s good eatin’. They’ve been punctual in delivery. Just a couple bucks more than Subway, which is WAY worth it. Thanks Paisan’s– we’ll keep up the ordering if you keep up the awesomeness!
