This is by far the best place that I have ever lived. The grounds are beautiful, the place is EXTREMELY quiet, and the location is perfect for shopping, dining, and getting around town(there is a bus stop right outside the wall to the complex). There is also an on-site gym, laundry facility(apartments do not include washer/dryer, just a laundromat-like facility next to the gym. Hook-ups for washer/dryer are in the apartment though, so you can get one), pool, and hot tub. Also, since the apartments were built as condos in the 1980’s, each block of four apartments has a single water heater between them. This would make dividing who pays for the amount of energy used in their apartment to heat water difficult, so they have opted to completely pay for the whole thing. That means tenants pay nothing for water OR the energy needed to heat it! It saves a lot of money this way. Also, don’t let the idea of a single water heater make you think that we run out of hot water. In the 2 ½ years I have lived here I have never once ran out of hot water. Being right on the corner of Neil Rd and Peckham, people always cringe when I tell them where I live. I understand the reputation that this area has but there have been no crazy incidents in this area in the 2 ½ years that I have lived here. The surrounding community is a wonderful place with a lot of culture. For example, there is a beautiful property right across the street that has a pasture for horses. Every morning when I go to work I get to see the horses hanging out in the pasture. It is a really nice way to start your day. Also across the street are amazing eateries such as Semenza’s Pizza, La Fonda de Don Juan, and La Chiquita Market! La Chiquita is also a carneceria(traditional Latin meat market) which is absolutely amazing! Now, this place is not perfect for everyone. My brother-in-law moved in a couple of months ago and was told that satellite dishes are no longer allowed by new tenants. I do not have any form of cable so it doesn’t affect me, but I can see how that can turn some people away. Also, the pool is only open for about 4 months a year(Memorial Day-late summer). This is extremely frustrating for me because I love to swim for my workouts and I did not find out that the pool is only open 1⁄3 of the year until I saw a sign posted on the fence to the pool. It bothers me enough that I just joined a gym to alleviate the issue. Despite those small issues, I do love this place and would highly recommend stopping by if you are in the market for a new place to live. Some notes: Average apartment prices can range from $ 700-ish to $ 1000. There are also three different size apartments. Mine is the biggest size at 1700-ish square feet. It is quite large.
