I like this place and have been here many times. I like the food, presentation and conviviality. The name, which loosely translates to, the gathering place, is fitting. I had a farm fresh salad that was beautiful and healthy. I was in the mood for pizza and was thinking of having the bee sting, which is a pie with bacon, sausage and honey. But the person I had dinner with was a vegetarian. So we opted for a pie that substituted cauliflower for the meats and were impressed. Will be back again.

The atmosphere at campo was very nice. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. We order the pepperoni pizza(don’t ask for a pepperoni because the call it something else) which was very burnt. The pizza tasted like a bad version of grimaldis pizza. On top of the poor taste of pizza, the wait time for our food was about 45 min. As far as pizza goes, I would go somewhere else.

Had a terrible experience. Took some friends here visiting from Belgium Waiter was terrible. Delivered our dinner wine bottle before Our pre dinner cocktails arrived. Opened bottle and broke cork off. I ordered the $ 12DROPP salad and it was a few prices of lettuce and small potatoes It looked like it had been ¾ eaten. Total rip off The cup of soup o ordered was actually pretty good All in all this place was an embarrassment for our European friends The location is great but that’s about it. My second and last try here, sad to say

Tried this place once when visiting my friends in Reno and was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the charcuterie plate which was nicely presented, the variety of meats and cheese go well together and the different sauces they have were really good too. I ordered the pasta with boar meat and it was delicious. Perfect portion too, not too big to where you feel heavy afterwards and not too little to where you are still hungry. My friend got the Margarita pizza which was nice and light. If I remembered correctly the place is part of a complex, we parked at a parking garage and walked over, no private parking lot.

The menu looked like it had some potential. Host and hostess seemed friendly. Actually sat down and started with waters. Unfortunately it seemed like the service was slow. Our server said he would be back to take our order. Instead took the order of a table next to us. Came back but went to two other tables to pick up dishes. There was another couple waiting. At this point I felt like this service would take way too long as we just wanted a drink and small bites along the river.

This is one of my most favorite haunts in downtown Reno. I ate there(again) recently with a buddy of mine as we initially sat at the bar since we didn’t have a reservation. Since we arrived right around 5:30ish, they weren’t super busy(for a Saturday evening) and we asked to be seated at one of the small round tables by the window. They were super accommodating and seated us as soon as one of the tables was clean. My buddy started experiencing heartburn midway through dinner and our server was so incredibly nice to bring out a cup of warm water and baking soda to alleviate. What impeccable service! She knew exactly what was needed, too. Food was once again outstanding and the ambiance is always so refreshing. They even opened the sliding door for us to enjoy the breeze coming in. I have never had a bad meal here nor a poor service experience. EVER. If you haven’t tried this place out yet, please do so. It’s right on the river, near the movie theaters, and next to a couple other dining /bar establishments and is just a super fun place to bring friends and family to for parties both large and small. Thanks, Campo!

Dining on: 5÷29÷16 Dinner We stumbled upon Campo after strolling around downtown and the river walk. We were lucky to score a table for two as before their rush. It’s an Italian restaurant with huge offerings on pasta and pizza. The place has good ambiance. A bar section with a view of the river walk and a huge front patio. Cocktails are good and pretty stiff. Moscow smile and cosmopolitan are both up to par. *Baker Ranch Burger($ 17) is a sizable patty, cooked medium, with salami and provolone served on a brioche bun. Not bad. The side of choice was rosemary infused fries. Fries were good, a specialty and pride of Campo. *Fish du Jour($ 28) is a snapper. I was debating between the poultry and the fish. Turned out the red snapper is perfectly seared to a slightly crusty exterior. But I didn’t think it should be served on this pesto purée thing and strawberries. Odd combination. At this price I expect a better fish. *Caramel Budine($ 8) is what drew us into the place. It’s salted caramel, cream, and meshed chocolate cookie served in a mason jar. Divinely delicious. Washed it down with a cup of locally brewed coffee! Oh by the way, I understand you’re Italian restaurant true to the cuisine. But who serves bread without butter? Asked for butter and they said they don’t have butter. Really?

This restaurant has style. It is hip and the food is delicious. I’m impressed with their cocktail drinks, they aren’t watered down and the wine list has good labels at very reasonable prices. I shall definitely return the next time I’m in town.

Really lovely meal, slightly more unusual dishes with locally sourced ingredients. It was a Friday evening and pretty busy, they apologized a couple of times that things were a little slower. We actually enjoyed the fact we had a bit more time after our starter. JC was our server and was great and happily chatted to us when things slowed a bit.

I never really jumped on the campo train. my handful of past visits had been a little disappointing, so I hadn’t gone back in quite some time. I heard the restaurant was now under new ownership, and I had a gift card, so I made a reservation and went with my family. The table wasn’t ready when we arrived– no big deal, we waited about 6 minutes. We were seated and our server delivered water and gave us some time to peruse the menu. We made our choices, closed our menus, and proceeded to watch our server, Joy, pass by our table at least five times. 15 minutes went by before she returned to our table to take our order. Maybe she was extra busy and was having a bad day, but in my opinion, she was very flat, rushed, and almost inconvenienced by our questions about the menu. In fact, the only time I saw her smile and offer enthusiasm in her voice was when she said goodbye and handed us the check. I’ve certainly had worse service before, but she definitely didn’t enhance my dining experience in any way last night. As for the food, we ordered the rigatoni pasta dish, spaghetti, and margherita pizza, coming in at around $ 15 each. The food was delivered to our table very quickly. I even joked about the food arriving faster than the server did to take our order. I felt the basic spaghetti and marinara was a little over priced, but my sister thoroughly enjoyed it, so that’s what counts. The fresh ricotta cheese on top was delicious and unique. The rigatoni was a little too al-dente for our taste, but the pizza was good. I’m a big fan of the traditional Italian style pizza with the thin crust, heavy sauce, basil, and a few pieces of large mozzarella scattered on top. This was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the sauce, which was salty, but also a little tangy. Will I be back? Not sure. The food was ok, but customer service is huge for me.

I’ve been here twice. Once when they first opened and again just recently. Both times I wasn’t impressed. Location is great, right along the Truckee River. Atmosphere is a little loud but nice overall. Service is good. Food is… meh. I won’t come here again on my own. There are far better choices in the area.

Well the food was good and the cocktails are decent. Now here’s the odd uncomfortable part… well the clientele is mostly white or tables with mixed ethnicities… Our table was the only All Asian one…3 Filipinos to be specific, and I don’t know if it’s a misconception or taking for granted that we won’t get pissed based on our background, but we waited 20 minutes to order and another 45 or so minutes for our food. The other party of 10 that arrived after us got in and out and we were still there. Another party of 2 table who arrived after us got their food way before we did. So maybe it’s a coincidence that in a busy restaurant where a majority of the clientele were white… Had one of few all brown skinned table waiting for a long time. Maybe. Maybe it’s policy for them to charge for a birthday dessert that no one ordered for our table. Which by the way if you’re gonna charge 3 dollars for a birthday dessert with crappy old ice cream and brownie. Don’t bother cause it’s tacky. I’d rather order my own desserts. Absorb the 3 dollar cost and gain repeat customers. But you have a lot of white repeat customers so that’s all that counts. Right? The sad part is that I still left a decent tip because I’m sympathetic to her team and service industry folks, and I know it’s probably just isolated to the older waitress with a slight bias. Unfortunately she was the one that helped us. Perhaps it’s just one waitress, but this dinner left me with an uneasy impression.

I’ve been to Campo a few more times since my last review, so I figure it’s about time for an update. Since I last wrote, Campo has been put under new ownership, but to be honest I wasn’t enough of a regular to really notice the change(and this is where someone comments on how wrong I am and hot nothing is the same!). But, a friend mentioned that some of the happy hour specials aren’t as good as they used to be, so I’ll believe her. The new owner is in finance, so that makes sense. This most recent time, we tried a couple of the pizzas, along with the roasted cauliflower and the frito misto(which could also be named«Unidentified fried stuff»). The pizzas were really excellent and had great flavor, but they need to sharpen their pizza cutter like whoa. It was definitely work trying to get that thing sliced up once it got to us. One of the pizzas we tried was the Bee Sting, which had honey on it. I was initially skeptical of putting sweet things on my pizza, as pineapple is the cardinal sin of pizza toppings, but this pizza converted me. Just a nice touch of sweetness that really brought it all together. Cauliflower was good but a bit oily, but the frito misto was well-fried(and we identified most of the ingredients… sunchokes are the ones you couldn’t identify if you’ve had it before). Bartender was new but delightful, kept us in food and drink until we were fat and happy. After several good experiences, I think it deserves a little bump in my rating.

We were visiting Reno due to a volleyball tournament and did not want to eat fast food, so I looked up places on Unilocal and found this great place. The atmosphere was lively and décor was cool. The food was very tasty and the service was great. I highly recommend this place when in Reno. We ordered several dishes and were very pleased with all of our choices. The Crostone, braised wild mushrooms, salt cured egg yolk, truffle mascarpone, was delicious! It was on the specials menu, so not sure it will be offered all the time. The roasted cauliflower… Amazing! The smokey, sweet and tart flavor was such a yummy combination! The fried polenta was also delicious with mascarpone. We also shared the squid ink fettuccine, which was just ok and the Alaskan halibut cheeks. The cheeks were so tender and sweet which paired nicely with the lemon-caper beurre blanc, peas, and pea shoots.

I have been here twice and have had great experiences both times. First let me start out saying I love the fact that Campo is a seasonal restaurant and uses local ingredients from local communities(farms and ranches). Sustainability is a passion of mine, so I automatically support any company that makes this effort. Also a cool artist/educational extra Campo has is a chalkboard that has small tit bits written on it regarding the fresh produce you are enjoying. Secondly the place is located next to the river so the views are lovely and the inside is decorated in a simplistic artistic manner. It is immaculately clean. The atmosphere was great and the sound levels are low enough to enjoy a good conversation with your dinning companions. The wait staff is excellent: polite, helpfully, and have gone above and beyond in service. Now to the food :) The first time I ate at Campo, I had the Mr Pear Pizza and I believe my friend and I split a pitcher of Ginger Beer. While I don’t really like beer(nay I truly hate it), I recall liking this drink enough to drink it(which I think says a lot). The Mr Pear Pizza however was a different story! It was divine! The crust was thin and cooked perfectly. The contrast between the richness of the gorgonzola and caramelized onions against the lightness of the pear and the arugula was an excellent flavor combination. I will order it again in the Fall :)(It was on the Fall Menu). Yesterday, I had a Campo Bloody Mary, the Gnocchi with Asparagus, and the sour dough bread with balsamic vinegar/olive oil drizzle for an appetizer. The appetizer wasn’t anything special, but the quality of the oil and vinegar was good and the bread was fresh(I would of loved it, if they had served the bread warm). The Campo Bloody Mary while it wasn’t the best Bloody Mary I have ever had, it was good enough that I’d order it again. Good vodka levels, good seasoning, and high quality olives. The Gnocchi with Asparagus was EXCELLENT!!! It maybe the best Gnocchi dish that I have ever had! The Gnocchi were cooked perfectly and had a great fluffy texture/consistency. The sauce was light and fresh with the lemons adding a perfect balance of acidy to the dish. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and the shallots and spring shoots added another level of lightness/freshness to the dish. Lastly, the queso fresco was sprinkled on top of the dish and added the perfect balance of richness to this dish. I WILL order this dish every spring :)(On the Spring Menu). One more noteworthy mention, while the menu has a limited amount of vegetarian items there are enough on it to keep me happy and coming back :)

When my parents asked me if I wanted to meet them at Olive Garden for an Easter brunch, I practically had an aneurysm. One frantic phone call later, I rerouted what would have been a meal of exclusively garlic breadsticks to a downtown spot pretty high on my to-try list: Campo. At face value, Campo has just about everything I love about hip new restaurants. Locally sourced meat and produce. Wood-centric interior with glimpses of industrial shop class chic. Walls decked out in a tasteful burnt orange. Beautiful boho rustic bar. USEDBOOKSASCHECKBOOKS. It’s a millennial daydream! I was almost positive that this’d be love at first sight, but the honeymoon phase didn’t even last through my first visit. What went wrong? Half of the problem was my fickle stomach; right menu, wrong time. I was so excited for the brunch menu and mimosas but figured I was up for neither as I sat down. After a ridiculously long look through the rest of the menu, the Swimmer grabbed my attention because the words«citrus aioli» always reel me in. The Fritto Misto sounded pretty choice too, so I unwittingly ended up getting a seafood-and-aioli-centric order(an accident but by no means a mistake). The appetizer came out pretty quickly. The calamari was good but maybe leaned a little more towards bland for my liking; the aioli really came in clutch. I dug the mixed vegetables, and the the fried slice of lemon was surprisingly a great addition. Decent start. I’d say the complimentary bread and EVO held me over, but given the speedy turnaround, my main course was out before I could say: «Is this artisanal?» I loved the flavors on the Swimmer — the apple slaw was bright and summery, working well with the blackened snapper. My main issue with this sandwich was its messiness as it was a struggle to keep the slaw and fish compact between the brioche. The fish was tasty and flaky but was prone to fall apart as a result. Ended up turning into more of a fork and knife affair, which I’d be quicker to forgive if the flavors brought just a little more oomph. I’m not typically a huge fan of polenta, but Campo may have just changed my mind: the crispy polenta bites blow their fries out of the water. Their in-house ketchup was almost offputtingly sweet and didn’t click for me, but a dip into the spicy aioli made for a delicious bite. We grabbed Campo’s eponymous pizza for the table. I love me some pancetta, but overall, this was a disappointment for me. Even topped with a trifecta of meat, my slice of the Campo just wasn’t up to snuff. This took me by surprise given the restaurant’s VPN-certification. The flavors and the crust were decent at best. It left me wishing I had made a stronger push for the Bee Sting… but there’s always next time. I walked into Campo expecting to start a torrid love affair and ended up with a case of culinary blue balls. But while I can’t say I fell head over heels, I at least felt a few sparks. I think my love for Campo is something that’s going to take a little more growing, but I’m up for the extra effort. Shout out to Ruby for being the sweetest, most patient waitress ever and putting up with my brunchy indecision. I’ll hopefully be back sooner than later — the mimosas are calling out to me, and I can only say«no» for so long.

I want to love this place so badly because I love his other places. I’ve gone 5 times before reviewing to get a good solid food sampling and multiple experiences. First off, it’s not bad by any means. Just average. And it’s expensive for average. The greats about Campo: they use local ingredients, local ownership(Mark Estee), wonderful location, lots of tasty and creative menu options, they offer still or sparkling water. I love that. Presentation. Every salad I’ve had I’ve loved. The meh’s: Price for deliciousness. Mini beefs like ice cold focaccia bread as appetizer, starchy peas in the carbonara, small draft beers, lackluster flavors here and there, always takes forever to get your food, TVs(that’s just a personal gripe in high $$ restaurants). Update: no longer locally owned, Estee sold. I was wrong!

Ambiance: rustic, but modern feel inside. Very friendly for groups or families. Service: Our waitress was so friendly and informative. After waiting awhile(almost 30 mins after our appetizers were finished and cleared) for our pizza, we informed the waitress that we had actually gotten pretty full off of the appetizers and could pass on the pizza. She said, «Let me check on it.» Next thing we knew, the manager was bringing the pizza over and said it was on the house. So nice that they treat their customers well. We’d definitely go back after that kind of service. Food: We loved everything! –Polenta: crispy on the outside and came with a mild butter to spread on it. Such good flavor to this one. Some people in the group never had polenta before so this is going to set the bar high! –Roasted Cauliflower: this was a recommendation from our waitress. So yummy! Definitely not healthy as it seems they also drizzled it in oil or butter, but totally worth it. –Cheese platter: generous helpings of cheese with crackers. We ordered the larger platter for our group of 7. –Calamari: Yummy, tender, and crispy on the outside. –Campos pizza: Very thin crust in the center of the pizza, but the outer edges were normal. The sauce and cheese looked watery, but the flavor was good. Not our favorite pizza, but not horrible either.

Excellent Italian restaurant, recommended by the bartender at Mt.Rose. I had the swimmer sandwich on brioche with apple slaw and fries. It was scrumptious. The chicken sandwich and pizza was also enjoyed by my party. Service and ambiance were great. The commercial/industrial décor was cool.

I was really surprised to learn I had never reviewed Campo as I’ve been here countless times. Campo is definitely my favorite restaurant in Reno serving up fresh, interesting dishes. During the warmer months, they have tables setup outside on the patio which is a really nice location next to the river. Campo has a rotating daily specials menu focusing on different proteins(steak, pork, fish, and poultry) plus pizzas, pastas, and some other offerings. They have a solid cocktails menu and wine list however the beer selection is limiting and expensive. Some of my favorite dishes here are the Campanelle pasta and the Bee Sting pizza, but you really can’t go wrong. Even the Burger is amazing with a bacon jam on top that is likely one of the better cheeseburgers I’ve ever had. Desserts are really good with one of the best options being the Caramel Bundino. The former owner of the restaurant just recently sold the entire stake to a new owner and with it sounds like there will be some great changes like enclosing the patio so it can be used year-round, more affordable drinks, and actual wine glasses(!). Only disappointing parts of Campo are the brunch menu and the salad selection. I would not return for brunch here, there’s barely anything breakfast-like. There are a few salad options but if you’re vegetarian/vegan you’ll probably be bored with the salads.
