On July 18, 2014, a friend and I flew into Reno International for an overnight get-a-way. Since the closing of two other flight centers /FBO’s last year, Atlantic Aviation is the only operational place on the field for General Aviation(GA) aircraft and crews. When we arrived, we were met and directed to a parking area by one of the several ramp attendants. After parking and unloading our luggage, we were offered a ride to Atlantic by way do an electric golf cart. Once inside Atlantic doors, I could clearly see where all the money for its recent renovations when. 18″ tiled floors. New carpet. A coffee machine that looked like it could Starbucks a run for its money and my personal favorite, a pilots shower room with rain, steam and sprayers coming from ever point on a compass. The staff was friendly and informative, offering us a curtesy ride from the airport to the Peppermill hotel. Our driver and ramp attendant«Christian» even offered to pick us up the next morning, saving us what I’m sure would have been a $ 15 dollar cab ride each way. The only negative remark I have about the experience at Atlantic is: since they are the sole place for GA aircraft, they’re ramp fees and gas are higher than most places. Gas on that weekend was over $ 7.00 a gallon and their ramp fee was $ 53 a night. But if you purchased their gas and bought 40 gallons worth, the ramp fee is waived. Yeah, I didn’t add up to me either.
