I would agree with Samantha L.‘s review. I have been a patient of Dr. Hastings/​RN Lydon, and they are very knowledgeable and always friendly. The office staff, however, leaves much to be desired. Not only have I as a patient experienced some very long wait times while they chitchatted, but in the event that you are running late (and I mean 4 – 5 minutes late), you can fully expect to be coldly informed that you will not be seen. That was my experience this morning (I was stuck in road construction on Mill Street), and when I arrived five minutes late to my early morning appointment, I was greeted by a lifeless, wholly unsympathetic receptionist who informed me that she was in the process of marking me as a no-​show and that I would have to reschedule (despite the fact that their waiting room was, for once, completely empty). I will not be returning.

The doctors here are very friendly and do an amazing job but their office staff could use some serious improvement. They are mildly friendly and there always seems to be more people than needed, which results in a lot of office chit chat.
I understand that most family practitioners are consistently running late but I have experienced some extremely long wait times at this office. I’m talking upwards of an hour. There have been a few times that I have been in the waiting room so long that I had to reschedule my appointment because waiting any longer would interfere with other commitments.
I have been a patient of Dr. Van Dyken, Dr. Hastings, and RN Lydon. They are all wonderful physicians and I have nothing bad to say about my service from them. My primary physician was Dr. Van Dyken and because that he has passed and I have never been fond of the way that the office was run, I will no longer be a returning patient at this practice.

I am so sad to update this. My dear friend, Don VanDyken passed away in January 2012. I am completely at a loss for a new physician … He will be a tough act to follow.

I happened to run across Cynthia R’s review for Acadia Medical Group. Her review counters a negative review, since filtered, which Dr. Van Dyken received. I’m writing to second Cynthia R’s review. While I’m not a patient of Dr. Van Dyken, I know him through my work, which is health care. In fact, I just spoke with him at a meeting last week. I can’t imagine a nicer, more humane, personable person. I’m glad Unilocal filtered that other review, as it’s clearly off the mark, or is referring to the wrong person.
