California has a reputation as a place where most anything can grow, with the latest 20 year fasination with the wines. I quiver just to think the wine one day on my dinner table is from Dale Earnhardt Vineyards. Personally I feel California needs to price drop from their current prices that are not on par with the old Vines and historic Château’s of France and Italy. Its a pet peeve of mine, as we are all countrymen and logistically, there are no bodies of water nor boarders to cross. Juniper Wines and Liquors places their heavily focused wine selection in the middle of what California has to offer, Silver Oak is available, but Rego Park is just nit the right area to promote and hold inventory of such wineries. From the basic Hayman & Hill and Hahn Estates, a non wine enthusiast can pick up an inexpensive bottle for a dinner party, that is not sold in the mega wine shops and enjoy a respectable bottle for under $ 12.00, so the under $ 20.00 options are plentiful. The reserva options are well represented as well, this is a store a wine person can spend some time in. With California taking top billing, Portugal porto’s have a great representation which I was quite impressed by. Filling out the top most well represented regions sits my personal favorite of the French. Prices are reasonable, but a store like this whack has such beautiful bottles of wines, is worth shopping at on a very regular basis. You get what you pay for in life and if price id your main deciding factor then perhaps a liquor store in Jamaica for a bottle of Ecco Domani would be a better bet, as Juniper Wines and Liquors really does carry a world class selection. *Delivery Service Available .

As others have mentioned, the staff is not the most outgoing/smiley but they are helpful if you ask questions. The place is brightly lit and clean, quite inviting and they have a pretty good selection. They have bottles for every price point. There usually aren’t others around when I’m in there so it feels a bit awkward as they watch you.

Yes, the staff is a little surly but will help if asked. They have virtually no competition, so their prices are steep! If I go to BQE liquors in Brooklyn or even the wine ship on 72nd and Broadway in Manhattan, I can find much better selections and tasty wines for a bargain. Someone will come along and offer better service and prices before too long. Unfortunately, they are convenient to my locale.

Juniper Wines and Liquors is a fairly new store that has opened on Death Row(Woodhaven Boulevard). While it is typically only a matter of 1 – 3 years before a business on Woodhaven closes, I have high hopes for Juniper Liquors as it is a nicely sized shop. The staff could be a bit friendlier and the prices on some bottles are high(Plymouth Gin 750ML30.99?!). Anyway, it is really the only liquor store in the area that has a wide selection and currently brings in new stock. Metered parking in front.
