Disclaimer: Total rating is 3.5 I’ve been trying to schlep to BlackSea for a long time but I had to wait to bring my mother there because she loves fish and lamb. We finally made it not too long ago and went biserk on the menu. The best items: the complimentary bread, the salad, the octopus, the St. Peter’s whole fish. The so-so items: the lamb kebabs, fried calf liver(actually less than so-so). Service was good. If you come, you must come for the fish — they have it mastered. The lamb came overcooked and not as tasty as I’d hoped. For that, I would go around the corner and down to Cheburechnaya.

Great flavor grilled seabass and shrimp kabob. The hummus was alright. The bread was good but waiter said they dont make the bread. Their dessert are homemade.

Came with co-workers. All agreed that the soup and the main dishes are great. Boss had St Peter’s fish and co-worker had salmon, I had lamb kebab. The rice accompanying the lamb kebab was good and the lamb itself was tasty if somewhat hardy(had to remain myself it wasn’t chicken). The pudding dessert was great to share as well. Recommending for future biz lunches or friendlies.

Food was definitely not what we were expecting, could’ve made a better octopus casserole at home. Very disappointed.

I’ve been here a lot of times! The best place I have ever been! For appetizer I ordered Mix cold appetizer which was delicious:) For main, I decided to try some kind of fish, they recommend St. Peters on the grill! The fish was fresh and very tasty! Service was good! Definitely the best seafood restaurant! Good price, good service, good food!!!

If it were based on food alone, I would give this restaurant 4 stars – the food, and especially the fish, was excellent. But there were a few hitches in service(and one egregious move that I still can’t quite understand). Four of us went there on a Sunday night, we had a reservation, but it wasn’t necessary since there were a fair amount of open tables. We were seated quickly, but once we were, we didn’t get acknowledged or served(not even the preliminary water pour) for well over 15 minutes. Once we did have a waitress come by, however, she was wonderfully sweet and attentive. As an appetizer we ordered the Shepard salad and an eggplant dip. Both were tasty(FYI: the eggplant dip is served cold). For entrees we ordered the St. Pete fish(tilapia), the brook trout, and the salmon steak. The portions are generous and the fish is served with minimal seasoning and were all nearly perfectly cooked. The tilapia stood out in the delicate, flavorful taste. If you want any sides you’ll have to order them separately(grilled & sauteed veggies are an option, as is rice, french fries, etc.). We initially ordered a bottle of white wine(from Turkey), which was great. We wanted a second bottle and asked for the wine list. The maitre-d’ came back with a red wine bottle from the same label as the white we had just finished but we said we wanted to try another wine, so he came back with the list – he seemed annoyed that we weren’t willing to try his recommendation. The first two wines we selected he didn’t have, so we settled on a French chardonnay. A bottle was brought and I cursorily glanced at it, tasted it(it was great) and we moved forward. As we were finishing the bottle I took a closer look at the label and realized it was the wrong wine – it was in fact a French sauvignon. But since we’d already finished it, and we did, in fact, enjoy it(and the mistake was mine for not paying more attention when it was first presented) I didn’t mention it. However, the bottle was more expensive than the one we had originally selected. Again, I paid the bill and did not bring up the situation, feel I that this kind of move(or mistake?) in service is not acceptable, especially given the caliber of this restaurant.

This place is a true gem! We ordered three appetizers: falafel, jummus, and calamari. We ordered three main diahes: st. Peter’s fish, branzino, and chicken kabobs. The fish was fresh and succulent and very flavorful. In adddition to the great food, we received excellent service. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. We will coming back and introducing friends!

I wanted to enjoy a good Mediterranean food. I order the hummus as an appetizer it was bland and I was not give any pita bread; I had to use regular bread from the basket they put on everyone’s table. I ordered the Chicken Gyro and I must say it was terrible full of fat pieces on it and absolutely no flavor. It was on a bed of tasteless white rice I took one bite of the chicken and did not eat anything else. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a place that was actual a waste of my money and time. I give this place a negative one star !!!

Awesome food. Great service. Cool décor. We’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while now and finally got to try it out tonight — it definitely lived upto the high expectations we had. Here’s what we ordered — octopus salad(was amazing), calf’s liver(tried it for the first time and thought it was great), lamb platter(pretty good), chicken adana(nothing spectacular) and St. Peter’s fish(awesome)! Also, had a glass of the turkish wine — which was pretty close to a cabernet. Only thing I hope they add to the menu is Raki — would’ve completed our lovely Turkish dinner! All in all, I’ll be going back for sure and highly recommend the place too!

Top of the line dining @ Blackfish, fresh, delicious and delicately seasoned grilled Octopus salad is my absolute favorite! Fresh table bread with tzatziki sauce, fried calamari, falafel & whole grilled Branzino always on my reorder list and can’t go wrong. For desert we were given complimentary Semolina cake which is equivalent to bread pudding but so much better tasting with orange/lemon zest and sweet honey, just out of this world rich and decadent goodness and a sweet ending to a delicious meal! Dining isn’t rushed, service is attentive with comfortable seating in a relaxed atmosphere! Prices are moderate and Black Sea is a seafood lovers hit!

We came here to celebrate my birthday. Although my brains were like scrambled eggs after my practice NY bar exam last year, I remembered the food was great so I wanted to come here again. The food was delicious and even better than my last visit. We ordered several appetizers: ezme, barbunya, octopus salad, and calf liver. For our main entrees we ordered two mixed grills(beef/lamb and chicken) and for desert we ordered kunefe. Everything was yummy and the service was great! I would definitely come here again.

Excellent Turkish fish place with good service. Went here with 2 others. To drink, I had a glass of the the Turkish white he had the glass of the Turkish. Both were good and not super pricey. Appetizer: Shepard’s Salad(Smaller size) Hers/shared. Very fresh, nice amount of cheese and tomato. There was a lot of parsley to it compared to other places. Good portion for the price. 4.1 Eggplant with tomato: Pretty good version. I have had this in other places and it was slightly better in other place but nothing was wrong. 3.9. «Spinach Sauté with pine nuts, onions and also Turkish yogurt sauce:» The flavors were excellent. Nice amount of pine nuts and some onions were in there. I don’t remember there being yogurt sauce but I am not sure. A whole lot of garlic, good portion. Nicely sauteed. 4.3 Mains: The waiter recommended most fish outside of the red mullet, mostly since that fish had a lot of bones St. Peter’s Filet, char grilled, her. 19.75 The waiter recommended this fish specifically char grilled and as a filet as the meat is better. While it was a filet instead of the whole fish, the portion size was quite adequate for the price. The fish itself was excellent. One of the better grilled fish I have tasted in ages. 4.6. Akdeniz Levregl: Imported mediterranean sea bass(branzino). exotic flaky, white sweet meat, ordered as a whole. 19.75 also, him Solid fish as well but not as good as the St. Peters. I think I just preferred the former but there was nothing wrong with this fish at all. It was the worst of the three dishes but honestly, it was still better than fish at a lot of other restaurants. 4.2 Ahtapot Guvec octopus casserole. fresh octopus baked in a casserole with mushroom, fresh tomatoes, red bell peppers and garlic. The casserole sauce(or whatever you could call it) was excellent. A whole lot of peppers and garlic. A lot of tomatoes as well. The octopus was cooked perfectly. Not as many mushrooms as I expected but otherwise fantastic. 4.4 Milk pudding was solid as a dessert, the normal kazandibi is normal. 4.3 or so

What a hidden gem! A bunch of us came here on a whim because we didn’t like our original dining destination and so glad we picked the right choice. If you’re a lover of seafood, this is heaven for you. We had about 10 people and we ordered pretty much everything on their appetizer menu. My favorites were definitely the fried calamari and hummus. For main entrée, I ordered in the fillet St. Peter’s fish, which came in two huge pieces. The fish was really fresh and like that it was flaky. Our server was also very patient and accommodating to us. He recommended a couple of wines for the table and even gave us a discount. The dessert was impeccable. I forgot what it was called but it looked like a white pudding cake with chocolate syrup drizzled on top it. Amazing!

Delicious! We had the appetizers mixed platter which was good for 4 people. Definitely worth it! It had such a delicious assortment. Then moved on to share the lamb mixed grill which was divine! Meat was tender and juicy. Waitstaff is very nice also. Baklava dessert was on the house. That always makes for a wonderful meal. Can’t wait to go back!

Five Stars??? I haven’t had a rating of this high in so long but, both food and service were simply just amazing! This establishment is nothing fancy, but the food is definitely something to write home about. It’s a quaint spot located on Queens Blvd. with street parking out front. I discovered this spot after a hunt for a great fish restaurant due to it being Good Friday and boy was I a happy camper! For a Friday night, they were pretty empty upon arrival, but got packed super fast. We ordered the octopus salad for an appetizer which was absolutely delicious! Might I add that the octopus was oh so nice and tender. My entrée choice was the St. Peter’s fish — AMAZING! One of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had! It was full of flavor, juicy, and fresh — just simply delicious! Make sure you choose the char-grilled option for the fish. As desert time rolled around and after seeing the menu we were indecisive on two options — the rice pudding and the Kunefe which is made up of feta cheese, honey, and shredded dough– sounds pretty weird huh, but it was amazing! We ordered the rice pudding and our waitress brought us the Kunefe to try on the house. I highly recommend trying both deserts as they were equally great! All in all, my experience at Blacksea Fish & Grill was good one and I will definitely be returning in the near future! Food and staff were excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant to all you fish lovers out there!

It’s a good thing the food here is delicious because the wine is terrible. The wine recommended by the staff tasted like vinegar, similar to a cheap wine that’s been sitting around for too long, definitely do not recommend. The good, however, was awesome. St Peter’s fish was perfectly grilled and tasty. More than one person could’ve dug into it and be happy. We also ordered the octopus casserole, which didn’t turn out that great. There was an overwhelming amount of tomato in the sauce so that killed the octopus flavor. But, three octopus was fresh when we did taste it. Overall, definitely worth a visit for since fresh fish and nice people. Just be careful of the wine selection.

2÷14÷15. Otherwise known as Valentine’s Day is a holiday that a lot of ppl go crazy for. I, personally, am not one of those people. Its this weekend that restaurants, flower shops, and others jack up their prices to make a profit.(Ok, im done with a mini –venting episode). I made plans last minute. I have been wanting to check out this place for awhile. I mean, it seemed only natural. I’ve dined at every spot on that block on queens blvd. Like Tropix, Sake Sushi. I read the reviews on Unilocal and they were pretty stellar. BlackSea Fish and Grill is walking distance from where I live. We took nice stroll here and rolled in around 7:30pm on V-Day. Place wasn’t to busy. Seated right away. Bunch of valentines day balloons wrapped around chairs. Brightly lit restaurant. It has a feel of actually being on a boat in the sea, covered with fish nets on the ceiling. Anchors on the wall as well as mini boat replicas. We had ordered the regular mini platter, for starters, which was big enough for 3 – 4 people. It had a mix of hummus, baba garnish, eggplant, spinach, kidney beans. This paired well with the toasty, crispy Turkish bread. The other Appie we had was pan seared mussels with tzadiki sauce. They were on sticks and were daa bomb. The main entrée was the north atlantic salmon. This had 2 pieces and was more than enough for two ppl. We ordered a side of grilled veggies which the waiter forgot to punch in, so one star less for that. I need me some vegetables with my meal, just saying. No dessert this time around b/c we were meeting up friends for some tea and dessert. Total Bill was $ 60. Not bad, considering the portions, and the fact that I was stuffed. Will be coming back b/c wifey and I are trying to keep Glatt Kosher, inb terms of meat. So eating fish outside will be heavily researched along with GLATT kosher meat. Check this place out, Unilocalers.

On my second visit I tried the St. Peter fish($ 19.95) — It is so good and fresh! They grilled whole perfectly. The fish was fresh and the meat juicy. Just a couple of squeeze of lemon is all the fish need. I picked the fish clean from head to tail!
