We stayed here last year while our house was flooded. The owners were so exceptionally kind and the food was remarkable. I 100% recommend to anyone who would like a nice cozy weekend away. Wheel chair accessible too!!!

What an amazing B&B! More businesses need to be run this way, with genuine hospitality, warmth and attention to detail. Jim and Lisa are wonderful, generous hosts and spare no expense in making you feel right at home. Every aspect of our stay at Briar Rose surpassed our expectations. I suggest staying there around your favorite holiday, because the decorations will delight and amaze you!

I was born in Pennsylvania near Reedsville. I have sinced moved away but recently had to travel home for a funeral. There is not much to offer in Lewistown for Hotel accomodations so i looked up B&Bs in the area. I came across this place. Wow! What a gem in a small town! We loved this place! Lisa, the host, is an amazing person. Just a genuine good soul who loves to please people. It was highly demonstrated in her care to furnish and decorate her home and in the detail of her amazing homemade breakfast! You will feel like your are far far away in paradise even though you are in a small town. Speaking of town, it was a really nice perk that they had a delightful wine bar just a short walk down the road from them. If I ever go back for Penn State game i will stay here! Its 25 miles from the stadium but it is worth it! Strongly recommend the Gazebo room as it has its own jacuzzi tub and a toilet. Otherwise you are sharing a bathroom with the other two rooms. :0) Great place for a family to share.

Small(4 room) B&B in a small town about 25 miles south of State College PA. As some of the other reviewers pointed out, the couple running it, Lisa and James, are very welcoming and hospitable. The B&B is a nicely renovated 1870s(?) house, exuberantly decorated with lights and knicknacks and(at the time of our stay in mid-September) lots of Halloween decorations. Reedsville is a tiny village just off the highway, with a lot of Amish in the area(we saw 4 horse drawn buggies with Amish headed to the Wednesday market). This would be a great place to stay for someone visiting State College or Penn State University — but watch out for the speed traps headed north on RTE322 into State College. Highly recommended!

Came here through Living Social. This was our first B&B so we weren’t sure what to expect. But to our surprise, it was fantastic. Lisa and James were very welcoming and hospitable — such as sharing their chocolate cake in the evening. We upgraded to the Gazebo room for $ 25, where it has a private bathroom. It’s actually in the same room decorated with lights and curtains — very pretty. Comfy bed, clean room, very well decorated house. The breakfast was soooo good. Wow. The bacon wrapped tator tots and strawberry waffles … mm-mm. Watch out when going up the parking slope. If you have a low height vehicle, it may scratch the front so drive slowly. If you’re in the area, we highly recommend Penn’s Cave.

Briar Rose Bed & Breakfast is an absolute gem! The house is beautifully decorated, warm, & inviting. Our Gazebo room included a jacuzzi, flat screen TV, incredibly comfortable bed, & private balcony. There is also an outdoor hot tub . The owners, Lisa & Jim, & their son, Jordan, are absolutely amazing people. They are so inviting, personable, warm, & welcoming. We immediately felt comfortable. Lisa cooks a goumet breakfast each morning. We were treated to Sausage Croissants, Peanut Butter & Jelly French Toast & Nutella Pancakes. They offered activity suggestions– local wineries, antiquing, caves, carriage rides, parks, wildlife tours, & restaurants. State College is just 20 – 25 minutes away. Briar Rose is perfect for a weekend away or for PSU parents. We can not wait to visit again!

On a rise above the small two-lane road into the tiny town of Reedsville, this well maintained 1887 «tourist home» presents arrivals with a cheerful sight. Our first impression on arriving here was that a gaggle of home decorators gone wild! Everything was decorated, even the trees and sidewalk! Since this was Easter there were eggs along the sidewalk, eggs and Easter baskets hanging from the trees, illuminated Easter bunnies on the front lawn, an illuminated Easter wreath… And this was just the outside! The inside had the same Easter theme with bunnies, eggs, and lights throughout the house. Every guest single room was intricately decorated with wallpapers, ceiling moldings, matching curtains and bed spreads, and a variety of decorative flourishes, including tiny lights, flower trimmings, etc. Each of the four rooms had a different decorative theme with different colors as well. How many people did it take to do all this decorating… Only one person – Lisa Everetts(and her husband, JImmy)! Lisa has a background in art and antiques, which makes a B&B a match made in heaven for her! It helps to be a decorating dynamo, and an excellent and creative cook, too! Not only is her attention to detail amazing, but she has painted the huge beautiful wall murals that are featured in various areas around this B&B. The living room is decorated to the hilt and includes a fireplace and a huge mural on one wall of a charming pastoral scene. The dining room is decorated for the season and has a large dining table that seats 8 and three smaller tables each seating four. Each table to set with antique plates, serving dishes and glassware. All guest rooms are on the second floor. We had a wonderful room with a whirlpool tub bookended with a small pedestal sink and toilet. A flower and light festooned, sheer-shrouded, gazebo-like canopy partially enclosed the tub/sink/toilet in one corner of the room. Next to the queen bed a door led out to a private balcony with a wicker love seat, two chairs and a café table. On either side of the queen bed small, draped circular tables provided space for small shaded reading lights and a clock. Facing the queen bed an antique cabinet contained a flat screen TV and DVD player.(Includes Dish TV and a large library of DVDs.) On the opposite corner of the room was a comfortable small winged chair, next to the closet. For the other rooms without in-room bath facilities there was a large bathroom with a large counter sink, toilet and a tub/shower. In the common area on the second floor was a padded wicker lounge chair next to a large bookcase fully stocked with a large variety of DVDs. Lisa completely decorates for each season, so on each visit you may find the décor completely different. If all these decorative touches were not enough don’t miss the breakfasts. We were here for three days and breakfast each day was different and tasty! Breakfasts included Strawberry French Toast(drizzled with strawberry syrup and real strawberries!), Blueberry Pancakes and maple syrup, and Pina Colada and Peach Schnappes Crepes! Oh, by the way… Didn’t get the room with the whirlpool tub? No problemo. There is a outdoor patio hot tub you can take advantage of. The Briar Rose is a surprising gem in then Pennsylvania countryside and well worth a visit if you are in the area looking a fun get-away. Lisa and JIm can direct you to many sights and activities nearby so you won’t be at a loss of things to do. FYI — You are in Amish country so don’t be surprised when you hear the clip-clop of horse hooves as their carriages pass along the road.
