Such a difference compared to last night at Silver’s. Prompt, attentive service. Beautiful hot sourdough bread. A homemade minestrone AND a huge bowl of salad, which you could have refilled at will. Charbroiled lamb chops to die for. Not a pretentious place; just good food not portion-​controlled

This place is a secret gem in the middle of NOWHERE! Sunday dinner service added minestrone soup to our table along with a green salad loaded with tomatoes, garbanzos, red onions, beets, all the basics and the best Blue Cheese tossed by the waitress at our table. Mom got a rib eye steak & baked potato. I got the grilled salmon filet & baked potato. (the potatoes were truly baked, not microwaved) I have not found ANY place at home that can touch a knife to this place. Mom immediately asked for a box and you will too. Serving sizes are meant to be large. If I lived up here, I’d be eating here at least twice a month.

On Mother’s day 2016 I took my wife and Daughter to Broiler Steakhouse for what I thought would be a great dinner with great food. Boy was I mistaken. The front desk had our reservation wrong (they had the wrong name even though I spelled it for them when I made the reservation) but it was the only three party reservation for that time frame (6:30 pm). I don’t know what they would have done if here had been more than one. We were seated and my wife asked our server if they had a Mary’s steak that evening. Our server shook her head, rolled her eyes and stated it is really busy and sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t .My daughter ordered a rib steak medium rare, I ordered a hearty cut prime rib medium well and my wife had steak and grilled shrimp. When the salad arrived it was short on dressing (even though we all had house dressing) and the bread was as hard as a rock. When the entrees arrived my daughters steak arrived it was over cooked, my prime rib was cut poorly (one end much larger than the other) and one end was almost burned and the other was almost raw. I told the server when she set it in front of me that medium well did not bleed in your plate, When we left over half the meat purchased that night went home with us as a meal for the dog. But the biggest reason for this review is when I phoned to talk with management the manager who took the call (I believe he said his name was Joe Fernandez) listened to what I had to say and started laughing. He apologized and repeatedly stated that we are all human and it was the busiest night of the year. After laughing I couldn’t take his apology sincerely. So if you listen to him it was okay our night was a disaster because we are all human and it was busy, The rating is based on past experiences not the present.

This is a family favorite. We hardly ever order anything except the lamb chops. They are so fresh and cooked perfectly.
We love the salad bowl with the house dressing.
The service is superb, because we always ask for Diana. Although all the support staff is friendly and attentive, too

A classic of Mendocino county. The Broiler has been a family staple for generations. My parents came here as kids, and my grandparents would take us here when we were little. Now I’m taking my kids here. The best steaks, fish, classic Italian salad, and the Spumoni ice cream is by far the best You will ever have in your life bar none! Guaranteed. Service is amazing, and they still cook their steaks over a hardwood grill. Check this place out if you’re in the Ukiah/​Redwood Valley area. You will not be disappointed.

This place was ok. The service was fine. The individual huge bowl of salad was crazy. We are it all tho. My husbands steak was a little tough. I loved my New York steak. Though the taste and grill was delicious. If you want a steak house this is a decent one to try

Great food and lots of it. Reservations are suggested for the weekend unless you want to wait. Meals include their excellent salad & bread.
The fillet was tender and cooked to perfection. Service was ok.

My 5 stars are based on the steaks and prime rib. I can’t tell you about their pasta or chicken, I go to the broiler for a large well cut peice of beef, cooked as ordered. Over the years service has been about 95 percent positive (fyi I could care less if my waiter smiles, as long as my order is correct and I don’t wait for over 10 min for a check). I have only had my meat over cooked there twice once with a steak and once with a cut of prime rib, out of many years going there and even still bolth were large good cuts.

Went to this restaurant 38 yrs ago when we were on our honeymoon. At that time it was out of this world. Step forward 38 yrs and what a disappointment! Lobster was over cooked — dry and like rubber, steak was so fatty and tough and baked potato was dry and over baked. What a disappointment! Definitely will not come again! Suggestion: go somewhere else for your money!

The BEST food, with mediocre service. The Broiler is a hometown favorite, and always has the best food, but I was a little disappointed with our last visit. The halibut serving size (my wife’s favorite dish) had clearly gotten smaller, and our sodas were served in tiny, thin glasses. Seriously Broiler, there is no way an 8 oz. glass — half-​filled with ice — is going to last an adult through an entire meal. This may not have been an issue if we could order refills, but after we were served, our waitress disappeared for the rest of the evening. A bus boy did come along TWICE to offer us water, but said he was not qualified to refill drinks. He said he would fetch our server, but she STILL never showed. Even after we were done eating, and our plates had been cleared, we had to flag down another bus-​person to find our server so we could finally get our check.

I used to love this place. That was until yesterday, when I watched a couple enter with their dog. Apparently it’s ok to bring non service animals into this restaurant. Sorry, I don’t eat or sleep with animals.

What great food. Fantastic steak, great salad, great bread, great everything. Everybody in our party of four was sooooo happy with their food. Best meal in years. Old time atmosphere and great service. A bit of a wait but well worth it.

I eat here all the time, good old valley hungry country steak house. The real deal. I’d give them a 5, but they have no food service in their huge food service accommodating bar. It’s bazaar. I’m local to the area and have been eating here since I was young and year after year that one problem has become more of an issue for me, my husband, and friends who don’t always want to be seated for a lengthy dinner. Otherwise the food is great.

Yeah i’d say the food is alright, They FALSE advertise on there menu, it says on the menu all dinners come with salad and french fries but when i ordered the pasta dinner I asked

the service is just horrible it killed it. it felt like our waitress was rushing and she BROKE a glass into my pasta… i told them to send it back to the kitchen because i didn’t want it at all. So i just left

We went here back for a dinner with some friends. The food was good and the service was markedly better. Our server was very attentive and polite. Our food came within about 20 minutes an tasted great. The bill for 8 people was entirely reasonable, and we all had a good time. Well done guys. We’lol be back.

I’m actually giving The Broiler Steak House 4.5 stars because I really save my five star reviews for the absolute best food and experience. But this place has it all. Charm, nostalgia, character, classic cocktails, and the best steaks anywhere! I ordered the filet mignon which came to the table perfectly cooked to my instruction and measured six inches wide! I ordered the baked potatoe with everything to accompany my delicious meat. HAVE to have the salad mixed at your table with the famous house dressing. Iceberg coming here since I was a child and it always makes me feel good. Love the Broiler!!!

Always great. Never disappointed. Great rib eye and the service is good. Price are good for a steakhouse.

Meat and potatoes! You can practically taste the wood grill marks on the lightly seasoned steaks that 9 times out of 10 are killer… The tenth time? Well some cows are just too stubborn and tough! Sea food and chicken available with your choice of potatoes or rice. The pasta dish is enough to rock you too sleep its so delish. Warm bread and house made dressings, only wish they would serve better lettuce… Or any veggies for that matter. Flat out will not accommodate a vegetarian or vegan diet. Wouldn’t be too difficult to through in a hearty cabob or something. Local wine and I fully appreciate that.

This place is the ultimate for family get togethers. Great meat. I always get lamb and it’s so yummy. We usually go Sunday nights w the whole family ages 20 – 93. Soup and bread are so fresh and delicious.
I like the salads and how it’s table side made. But they give u so much it seems wasteful. Maybe next time I’ll order salad undressed w dressing on the side. So there isn’t 2 or 3 half salad bowls left.
And they serve Schatz bakery desserts always a plus!

No Veggies??? Loved this place even though they were adamant about not serving hot vegetables. Who knew? They have done it the same forever and will continue to do so. Great steak, friendly and lightening fast service. Fun to watch the wait staff rush around pushing their serving carts.
True Institution. Highly recommend the adventure. Wish they would open for lunch. Food servings are large easy to split and share. The specials are the best deal in Northern CA.
Get there early, waiting line out the door by 6 pm.
