This place was a really cute stop on our road trip. It was a nice place to stretch your feet and relax a little bit. The people were so nice too and made you feel very welcomed. They knew that we were traveling so they even gave us complimentary pecan rolls since it was a slow day! I like that you have the small town charm here, you don’t get that most places! I thought the food was pretty good. The tomato pesto soup with tortellini was more like a vegetable soup than anything else. I was really expecting it to more like an actual tomato soup so I was disappointed with that but I thought that everything else was good, homemade, non-processed food. My family always makes a point to stop here when traveling through and always enjoys it.

Love the lattes, their fresh bread is amazing… Basically anything you order will be fantastic. Like someone else said– a breathe of fresh air after all of the chains nearby! It’s one block off of both highways– get your butts over there and try it!

In Redwood Falls on business today and stopped here based on Unilocal reviews. What an exquisite surprise! For the café genre of eating establishments, this is SOSOGOOD! The soup(don’t remember the name, but had white beans, green beans, tortellini, and chicken) was SO delicious — interesting flavors(including fresh basil! yum!), great textures, just reeeallly good. Turkey BLT was good, the toppings were quality but nothing noteworthy — but the homemade bread brought the sandwich to another level. So delicious. While my companion and I ate, we eyed the bakery case. So much temptation! One of the staff stopped by and gave us a white chocolate almond muffin on the house — she said it was too small to sell from the case. While we ate it, my companion and I just sighed and repeated, «This is SO good…» I got a salted nut roll bar to go and it is heavenly. Great balance of salty and sweet, excellent chewy/crunchy texture, just YUM. The coffee was great, to boot. Plus, so one-of-a-kind and non-chain-y and THEREIS A BUCKINGCALFSTATUE. Just really really loved this place. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Redwood Falls. Note — cash or check only.

Randomly in the area for work and was driving by and decided to stop as I had some time before I had to be at my appointment. Cute little place! The service was a little sketchy, it took a while before anyone greeted me. I am into baked goods so I was eyeing up their bakery case and decided to go with the Babe Ruth bar. The thing was HUGE– too big. I asked if I could buy a half portion or anything and he said no. It’s a shame that they are so enormous because it’s such a waste– who even eats that much? Anyways the guy said it was great and it’s his mother in law’s recipe and they make it fresh there yadda yadda and it was less than $ 3 so I bought one. He cut it up into several smaller pieces but even so, I cut it into even smaller pieces at home and still it could easily feel 12 people. It was good old fashioned home baking though. Reminds me of something my grandma would make. :)

Not only does Calf Fiend Café make the best cappuccino in SW Minnesota, they can go toe-to-toe with some of the best coffeeshops in the country — San Francisco, Boston, Austin, Nashville. You name it. The scones were the best we had since we’d been in the UK. Sandwiches were *delicious*. But best of all, the owners were *great* people! Very friendly, very generous. They’ve had the place for 15 years, and they are still in love with the service and great times they provide. It’s been a couple weeks since our visit, and upon reflection, another reason I liked Calf Fiend Café so much was that it reminded me how coffeeshops used to be in the 90s: none of the hipster catwalk be-cool and be-seen, but rather great coffee, food, and company with comfortable chairs, booths, etc., where you spend a meal or an entire afternoon and leave the place feeling refreshed … and content, knowing that there are still places like this in the world. Iif you are anywhere close to Redwood Falls, be sure to stop in. And stay for a while :-)

A pleasant surprise in a tiny town. I stopped through the town of Redwood Falls on a bicycle trip about 4 years ago and as a coffee fanatic I didn’t really expect to find good brew anywhere in the area. As luck would have it a friendly gentleman named Eric saw my traveling partner and I and asked us where we get our coffee. We told him that we usually just stop at whatever the closest diner is but were open to suggestions. He told us he knew of a place and to follow him. We came to find that he is actually the owner and he treated us to a couple delicious mochas and pastries because we were a part of the«tribe»(cyclists). The staff was awesome and the atmosphere is a place you can definitely relax in for a few hours. It’s on par with independent shops you more typically find in trendy districts in big cities.

Stopped by while just passing through town. Excellent decision to stop here. The décor and layout was cool. The staff was very good and the food came out quickly. Ah, the food… I had the tuna pasta salad and a turkey BLT sandwich. Both were just terrific. The tuna, nice and chunky and the sandwich piled high with flavorful contents on fresh baked bread. It was served with a huge, juicy strawberry and a big slice of honeydew melon. I ordered a coffee to go, made perfectly btw, and I was brought a huge, still warm chocolate cookie unexpectedly. That was cool. Couldn’t have been better. All in all, I highly recommend this spot.

We stopped here for a quick bite to eat well traveling for work and am I glad we did! The sandwiches and wraps are absolutely amazing and they are big for $ 6.50 or $ 7. We were both starving when we showed up and completely full when we left. Staff was also cool and friendly. If we come back this way I’m sure we will stop again.

Lovely place, well worth the detour we took to try it based on others’ reviews. We were not disappointed! We had excellent wraps with plenty of fresh veggies, a nice homemade soup, good quality coffee, and a delicious frosted snickerdoodle cookie.

Their food is very delicious. I have tried their sandwiches, soups, pastas, deserts, coffees, teas, and Italian sodas! Great food. Quirky atmosphere, it’s kind of dark in the café and theirs always great music on, not to mention the bucking cow in the middle of it all, there is also really good artwork on the walls.

Visiting from San Francisco and this place made me feel at home. This is a wonderful authentic friendly place in a land of faceless chain restaurants. Great capuccino and pastries.

Typical small town bistro. Good fare but clueless with soy(burnt, just can’t froth like milk). Okay cheesecake but nothing special.

What a delight it is to find a unique, independent café. In a world increasingly filled with boring, corporate-owned stores, I value a spot that is able to deliver its own unique flavor to the table. Speaking of flavor, the coffee is excellent, the baked goods superb, AND you can get a lunch that is filling, delicious, and reasonably priced. I have visited Calf Fiend often for coffee, lunch, and even once with five kids in tow for hot chocolate and caramel rolls after sledding. The staff are pleasant, fun and, if you’re really, really lucky, you may find yourself beholding a well-groomed handlebar mustache hitching it’s ride to glory upon the owner’s lip — it’s just… dreamy. I have no hesitation in recommending that you go, visit, eat, drink, and sit transfixed.(You will…) You’ll be happy you did and, perhaps, come slightly closer to enlightenment.

Any time I’m in Redwood for a meeting, I make SURE to get my morning coffee + breakfast at Calf Fiend. There’s a great assortment of brews, delicious pastries, big, fresh sandwiches, and friendly staff galore. They have events and live music, and the environment is perfect for sitting down and chatting with a friend, or getting comfy and settling in with a book(or your laptop for us workaholics). Calf Fiend is a gem in Downtown Redwood Falls!
