We love the croissants here though they are ginormous. The stars are for that. The desserts are pricey and not tasty enough to make you forget. I tried the macarrons once right after coming back from Paris and they were disappointment — stale and did not taste good. The croissants though are worth it.

Today I got a half dozen macrons with pistachio, raspberry, mayan chocolate, amaretto, and two salted caramel flavors. The macarons are dense and chewy and the cream filling is airy and slightly on the liquid side. When you press on the macaron, the filling comes out on the sides. My personal preference for macarons is for them to be airy and crunchy versus dense and chewy. As for flavor, they’re good! The salted caramel has sea salt in them so you bite into a few crunchy bits of salt. I really enjoyed the raspberry, pistachio, and amaretto macarons. The raspberry was light and fruity, the pistachio was creamy and nutty, and the amaretto packed a strong punch, but not overbearing. Add a cup of black coffee on the side and you have yourself a nice coffee and dessert pairing.

If this café was closer to me I would probably be here every day! I loveeeeeeeeee!!! their macaron! I am very particular with my macaron and they make their macaron so perfect for my taste buds! I understand that most macaron from Paris are suppose to be soft but i love my chewy after that initial bite. If you like chewy cookies their macarons will be perfect for you! It is so difficult to go to sf without stopping here! My boyfriend loves their ham and cheese croissants and have claimed its the best he has ever had!

One of my favorite places in the Bay Area. Very good coauthored service and food. Easy to find a parking spot.

We were running some errands in Redwood City, and my hungry husband was becoming snippy because the Unilocal directions for the restaurant that I really wanted to review were off, and so we ducked in here. The starving husband hesitantly placed his order, and rolled his eyes as he forked out the money. Knowing that French cafes typically serve A+ coffee, I urged him to get a cup(because good coffee always puts him in a great mood.) 3 sips later, and he was smiling, raving about the great coffee. Do I know that man, or what?! So our sandwiches came with beautiful side salads. To my surprise, the ham on my sandwich is like the good polish deli meats that I go out of my way to purchase on special occasions. It was more like smoked pork tenderloin than ham. Also, the goat cheese was the creamy kind without the skanky aftertaste that some other goat cheeses can have. The only thing that made my meal better were the scrumptious moans and compliments that my husband was giving his meal. I was originally going to give 4 stars due to the high price point of $ 9 for a sandwich plus at least a couple of bucks for a beverage, but I rethought that when my husband finally declared that was the best sandwich he’s ever eaten. He even said it was worth every dollar, and that he would go back.

Love this café! Their turkey bacon and avocado sandwich is to die for. The prices are a little bit high up there but it’s understandable because it is around a high end community. I definitely recommend this place to people who love sandwiches

Wow! We got a dozen macarons, a Napoleon, and a lemon drop. Wow. My family loved it all to the last crumb. We will definitely be back.

Excellent café. Very nice looking both on the inside and outside. Reasonably priced dishes for the quality of food you’re getting. I tried a variety of both sweet and salty items which were all consistently excellent. Definitely try the croissant, salads, and delicious cakes on your visit.

Je t’aime Pamplemousse! Living in Montréal and being in Provence makes me miss very well done pastries that are just an everyday thing in Québéc or France. The croissant is how it’s supposed to be, flaky on the outside with a dark golden colour and chewy on the inside which means the butter is perfect to create the flakiness. The Cassís macaron is a classic and my go to when I want something sweet which is not often. Great now I miss Montréal

Decided to try a different dessert place to get some treats for the family and stopped in here. Really cute and upscale looking café with multiple pastry options. They had a few kinds of berry cakes in individual portions, giant croissants and a pretty big selection of macaroons. We got about 2 dozen of them, and got one of each flavour just to try them. They’re pretty spot on macaroons, crispy bite yet chewy biscuits and with usually a light floral cream on the inside. The flavours and texture really remind me of the ones from Laduree, which are great. My favourite is the rose flavour, but vanilla, salted caramel, hazelnut were all delicious too. At about $ 2 for each and u get 1 free for buying a dozen, it’s not bad pricing. I’ll definitely be back for more!

I really enjoyed the desserts here. It felt a bit pricey but the quality of food was on point. Had a cookies and cream cake which had just the right amount of sweetness. Texture was great also not too thick not too dry. I also ordered an éclair which was surprisingly good as well. Most eclairs I’ve had tend to be over sweetened but this one had the dark chocolate taste just slightly and the cream inside wasn’t thick either The place is a little small so not great for groups of more than 4 – 5 people. If you want that intimate coffee shop setting though this place is perfect.

Apart from being named after one of my favorite French words(but least favorite fruit, go figure), Pamplemousse is one heck of a fantastic bakery. Their pastries are extremely buttery and flaky, and are clearly all baked with love and attention. Their mixed berry danish(which was more like a croissant) was absolutely phenomenal, although it was hard to choose just one baked good from their tantalizing shelves. Great little place to stop by for a quick breakfast(although they seem to have a decent lunch/dinner menu, as well as a good selection of beers — Grimbergen for the win!).

This is a very cute café and the baristas and servers were lovely people. There is also an outdoor seating in front. Sadly, my food was not very good. I was starving and I spent roughly around $ 13 – 14 on tea and smoked salmon sandwich. My sandwich came with a salad. My sandwich was quite tasteless and my salad had more flavor in it, in comparison. Very bland. I threw in some leaves from my salad with dressing in my sandwich and still. I was not satisfied. I ended up taking out the salmon and eating it with just the salad because I was so hungry … Tip: Just get something else.

Well, now that Pamplemousse has become a place of habit, I can attest to their continuous excellence in the quality of their food. Their bread is always very fresh, and I always love me one of their sandwiches. My favourite is perhaps the chicken pistou or the serrano ham, but the good ol’ croque monsieur or the turkey, bacon and avocado are delicious as well. If you are in for something fluffier, try the quiches — and don’t forget to check what the quiche of the day is. You might want to share that main dish with someone because their desserts are simply decadent. For something lighter you can go for the chocolate croissant, the russian tea cake, or the caneles, but definitely get one of the cakes for a special occasion, and don’t forget the macarons! It’s amazing to find a neighbourhood staple that you are able to visit again and again, and it’s even better when their quality sustains over many, many years.

Small, busy, damn cute café with cute interiors and great people! I loved the mocha — they made it exactly the way I wanted it. Loved the cakes and croissants too. They were fresh and tasted as yum as they looked !

— Plain croissant: pretty tasty and fresh, very doughy and soft; though a little buttery — Kouign Amann: many flaky layers, slightly sweet. Very decadent. Highly recommend Just one tip, would not recommend their juices — highly from concentrate. Not very tasty — but the croissants here were good. Will have to come back to try a few other things.

Nice place to hang out. No WiFi here though. The macarons was a disappointment — passionfruit, salted caramel but the lavendar ones were really good. Too much inconsistencies. Tried sample of chocolate cake and it was good! Cup of hot chocolate was so so.

Had 6 available macarons. The flavors were good, not too sweet but the shell was too crunchy kinda low egg shells.

A very cute café. Main attraction for me was the floor to ceiling glass wall facing the street. There was a semblance of some sun today but I’m imagining way ahead thinking of summer, seating in one of these chairs and people watching. I noticed their macarons immediately. My friend ordered the Salted Caramel while I opted for their Rose flavored. We shared and I can happily report that mine tasted like it should– A Rose. It was rosy enough and has all the awesome quality of an excellent macaron. I. E it handles well when you lift it. No bubbles noted. perfect amount of cream filling. They carry the usual suspects of the coffee persuasion. Sandwiches as well. I didn’t order them but noted the prices were at the $ 8’mark. One thing: NO Wifi! :(
