I haven’t had Hawaiian bbq in a long time! My coworker and I had to work graveyard shift, so we bought take-out from here as our dinners. She ordered a mini chicken curry katsu and a spam musubi, and I ordered a mini chicken katsu and a spam musubi as well. The spam musubis were good, and there was a very good proportion of spam to rice. The chicken katsu was really good, not oily at all. They give you just the right amount of sauce for the amount that you’re given, and you’re given a really generous helping of chicken! I feel like even though I ordered a so-called mini, I was still given pretty much a regular size. We were also given one ice-cream scoop of rice with one side. The side that I picked was their macaroni salad, and my colleague got a side of steamed broccoli. The staff was really friendly, we were greeted as we approached the cashier. Our to-go orders were ready after we went for a quick look at the Dollar Tree next-door. Overall, a very positive experience with this L&L. Also, the establishment is very clean, spacious, and bright.

Slow service. I stopped by at 11:30am to grab lunch. There were 3 people cooking in the back and 1 lady at the register, 2 people in front of me waiting to order. However, the lady at the register was on the phone taking an order. After waiting 10 minutes in line, she was still on the phone and the line hadn’t moved. I left.

What is there really to say, it’s a chain Hawaiian BBQ spot. The service is always good and the food is descent(never had a complaint). One of my go to places after a long night of drinking. Quick, affordable and filling!

Since I first went back in January, I have been frequenting L & L. I have tried a variety of things on their menu and never have I been disappointed. Here is what I thought of each dish I’ve tried: Chicken Katsu: 5⁄5 Chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, tastes really good with the sauce they give you. BBQ Short Ribs: 3.5 /5 The ribs have a good flavor but tend to have a lot of fat on them. BBQ Beef: 4⁄5 Really good, but the portion is a little smaller than the other dishes. BBQ Chicken: 3.5 /5 The BBQ chicken is good, but they leave the skin on it, and sometimes there is a LOT of skin, it can be overwhelming. Beef Curry: 5⁄5 One of the best dishes I’ve tasted. The beef is flavorful and the sauce is to die for. It comes with carrots and potatoes in it to make it even better. Loco Moco: 3⁄5 The gravy had good flavor and the eggs were cooked really well, but the hamburger patties were overcooked and dry. All of the dishes come with steamed rice and macaroni salad, which is consistently really good. The portions are always HUGE and are often enough for multiple full meals. If you order a half beef curry and half chicken katsu you will not be disappointed.

if you want to get cancer this is a great place for it. Just order anything and it’ll be nicely burnt so it’ll will kill you slowly. If you really want to eat here, i would get fried dishes than the bbq ones.

Had to update this for a second review due to the fact that you have choices to go with your meal. Brown rice and steam vegetables? That’s pretty awesome! Didn’t know you could do this until the lady at the register told me I had choices. I ordered the half and half(half grilled chicken and half chicken katsu) and boy oh boy, I had to split the meals in two. Again, great place to eat a lot of food!!!

The idea of Hawaiian BBQ sounded really good for lunch. I ordered the katsu chicken, but didn’t realize that the portions were so large. I left absolutely stuffed. The food itself was ok and the staff seemed friendly enough, but the interior could use a little work. The walls were covered with menu items that had signs next to half of them saying«Not Available». What’s the point of that?

OMG! this place is the best. Love the chicken katsu and spam musubi. I like it a lot. I would recommend them to play some music to set the mood. Maybe some reggae? Overall good experience here.

When I’m feeling like I wanna pig out on some breaded deep fried chicken strips, rice, and macaroni– this is the joint for me. Is it authentic Hawaiian? Of course not! I’m specifically referring to their large Chicken Katsu plate that can feed a family of 4 – 5, crazy huh? Well it feeds mine for a grand total of $ 10.41…woot woot!

I have been craving loco moco and L&L has loco moco. Not great loco moco, but mediocre loco moco is better than no loco moco.

THISPLACEHASTHEWORSTCUSTOMERSERVICEEVER!!! I WILLNEVERCOMEHEREAGAINORRECOMMENDTHISPLACETOANYONEEVER!!! I came here yesterday to treat my self to some Hawaii bbq. I placed my order they handed me my food and was on my way back home. I live about 15 mins away on the freeway. Got home sat down opened my food and saw they gave me white rice instead of brown like I asked… At this point I’m totally hungry and debate about weather to go back out not. But I decide to drive all the way back because I can not eat the white rice at all. I get there and the front desk person actually argues me down that I order streamed rice and not brown. Then the just throw some rice in a container. NOSORRYNONOTHING! They just try to send me on my way. Friendliest people work there, always smiling and being kind. Food is good. The BBQ Chicken plate is my favorite, they also throw in some teriyaki sauce when you ask. Order in your food through the phone if you are taking it to go, saves time.

Food: 3⁄5 BBQ Chicken: On the saltier side. Some juicy. Some a bit dry. Skin-on. Kalbi: Also on the saltier side. Chewy. Like beef jerky but not as dry. Steamed veggie: Perfectly tender broccoli. Bitter cabbage. A bit bland. Spam musubi: Spam is very salty. Big block of rice. Pretty solid. Macaroni salad: Edible. Macaroni is very well-done — easily falls apart. Brown rice: Short-grain. Restroom(female): 4.5÷5 Not smelly. Clean. No changing table. Environment: 2⁄5 Clean enough. Not much. Parking: 4⁄5 Parking lot. Plenty of space. Kid-Friendly: 3⁄5 They have high chairs that are relatively clean. No changing table in the restrooms. Food is too salty for my kids. Verdict: Don’t mind going back. Typical fast food. Food is edible and on the saltier side.

The worst one ive been to. Not appealing from the outside. Seems like its not well cleaned and maintained. Theres back seating near restrooms that they also use as storage. Its quiet and boring(no music). Half of the lights were turned off. Service would be better if the workers acted like they wanted to be there. No smile. No thanks for coming as u leave. I guess im just used to the ones everywhere else being bomb. Food didnt taste fresh n clean. Laulau was nasty here. Its always good everywhere else. Mac salad is in the hot plate and not separately cupped so its warm and funny tasting. Not going back here. But did have fun at dollar tree pretending i was rich. Lol. Gooday governor!

They refry and heat OLD food that’s been sitting around for hours. I can tell because of the burned marks on the food and the fact it tasted dry. Made while you order? THINKAGAIN. I don’t even need to write a review. The photo below explains it on. So disgusting. I won’t come back here until I get an apology from the manager or owner. This food was beyond atrocious. So gross. Since the first one opened in San Jose, CA many years ago, I’ve always been wanting to have a taste of their food. Amazingly, it took me just about 8 years to finally have a taste in Redwood City, CA. Twice I have been there and both times I had to admit, was pretty tasty. The first time was just a little over a month ago where I decided to order two(2) togos for dinner. Ever since I started to turn my life around into a healthier and smarter lifestyle, I’ve been more pickier with my food selection. I was afraid that I had to make that meal into a cheat meal –and it was only Tuesday, way too early in the week. To my surprise, they had healthier dishes(awesome). I ordered the Garlic Shrimp healthier choice and for my partner some sort of BBQ Chicken dish with eggs, and macaroni salad and white rice. The order took a good 15 minutes –which I figure because they did the whole made-to-order sort of deal. So I was patient. Fast forwarding to the tasting moment: it was surprisingly good and satisfying. Since I ordered mine with no salad dressing, the only thing that had flavor was the garlic shrimp. It was indeed a garlic shrimp and I’m so relieved that they served so many in one portion. It was topped over shredded cabbage and the garlic dressing over the shrimp. Someone actually took the time to split the spine open and take out the shrimp’s poop! The Garlic dressing was enough to put flavor for my entire meal –perfect with my two(2) scoops of brown rice and salad. So the comments: LOCATION: I think location is a winner for those who is fan of L&L. It’s located next to shoe stores, clothing stores, restaurants and fast foods. Not hard to find and navigate. PARKING: There is a fair amount of parking space in the lot that this fast food restaurant is located in. In fact, I don’t think I ever seen it full. Not saying it is dead, just that I never had trouble looking for a parking space. CLEANLINESS: Upon walking into this establishment, my first impression was that it was a bit run down. The dining area looks a bit neglected. I’m not saying it is crazy dirty, but I think a good scrub down is needed. If you walk towards the restroom, there are boxes stacked as if it was the storage area. What would Gordan Ramsey say if he would’ve seen that, «bloody hell.» I would rather order the food to-go rather to sit and dine there to be honest. CUSTOMERSERVICE: No greeting(I would understand if it was crazy busy, but it never is when I stop by there so why not say, «hi» when a customer walks in), no smile –definitely an environment not best known for their customer service. Honestly, I didn’t feel welcome there at all. I understand they’re not planning on making a career move to L&L franchises, but providing customer service with an attitude like you don’t want to be there is a huge no-no in my book. Luckily, not a red flag. What I also didn’t like that the fact the spoke Spanish friends who weren’t working –from across the room. Really? I find it incredibly rude when people speak in other language around people who does not speak the language nor understand it. Like I said before, a place where I would not dine. FOOD: Despite the customer service is just simply horrendous, the food is awesome. Why I haven’t tried this place before? Because I was afraid it was going to be awesome –that’s why! Walking into this place and placing an order feels like pulling teeth, but for me, it’s worth the taste. The great thing about Hawaiian entrees that it’s so full of taste, and carbs(my two most favorite features of feel-good food) that if I didn’t have to worry about diabetes and high blood pressure(lets not forget the unforgiving muffin tops), I would totally devour L&L all day, every day. The final verdict: To dine here, nay. To place an order to-go, yay! Until next time!
