History

Established in 1976.

Out of my house, High Performance House was born as a mail order company for New & Used Porsche Parts. With a demand for repairs, I opened my shop on Spring St in 1978, in Redwood city, and was putting in 8 days a week. As business expanded, I bought the real estate at 2431 spring st, and started my 10 year plan to build new buildings that would suit the auto parts & repair business. Our three story parts building with showroom, houses thousands of new Porsche parts and millions of used Porsche parts. After cementing the yard for work durability, the building phase was finished. Even with the 14,000+ sq ft of warehouse, and 8 stalls for service and repairs, we struggle to find enough room for all the Porsche goodies, that we have accumulated through the years of business. After drag racing Mopars for 8 years, and the arrival of the first fuel shortage in 1974, I decided to buy a small sports car that would get better gas mileage than my 6 MPG Dodge’s. I test drove many sports cars, and when I sat in a Porsche 914, I knew that was what I wanted. Having raced go karts as a child, I loved the feel and handling of the 914. I joined the Porsche club in 1974 and started autocrossing then time trialing then built an SCCA road race 914, and went road racing for 20 years. With track records, at Sears Point, La Guna Seca, Portland, Seattle, Carlsbad, Phoenix, and driving experience at Daytona, Road Atlanta, Riverside, Ontario, Thunderhill & Buttonwillow. We won a lot of races, and developed the 914 into a reliable, 1^st class race car, that won, most of the time!

Then Dodge came out with the Viper. I’ve had 5 different Dodge Vipers since my first in 1995. My latest 2008 with 600 HP is a terror at the race track whenever I bring it out…
