My 11-​year old son has been taking bass lessons with John for a few months and has loved it. John focuses on building a solid music theory foundation so that his students have all the tools they need to play a variety of musical genres. He has the perfect mix of light-​heartedness and high expectations of good technique. I usually sit in on the lessons, and as an aspiring musician myself, really appreciate John’s sense of humor and his incredible musical knowledge and proficiency. I also find it really easy to work with the Gelb staff in terms of scheduling, and they are great with friendly reminders when monthly payments are due.
