Hightower is actually now in Paonia and Hotchkiss. The food was the amazing. I had the Cobb Salad, with fresh greens and my companion and the daily special, biscuits and gravy. We topped off our meal with the fabulous Cherry Strudel. We even bought a whole Strudel to go! Excellent service, great food and even better price! We topped off our visit with shopping in Carey Hightower’s jewelry store two doors down! Highly recommend this best little secret of the western slope!

TL;DR: Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for gifts or vintage collectibles. Hightower Trading Post is reminiscent of the trading posts of a bygone age. They do everything and do it well. They have an extensive collection of antique Navajo & Mexican jewelry, contemporary jewelry, curio & relic wall-hanger firearms, collector’s knives, vintage ball mason jars and too many other items to list. They also sell antique furniture for very reasonable prices. In addition to vintage collectibles, they also serve food. We can attest to the quality of their BBQ ribs and iced-tea. Hightower Trading Post is a glimpse of the small mountain towns of yesteryear. Family-owned and operated, these types of places are endangered and only exist because they are so far off the beaten path. Check it out if you are in the area, or give them a call if you are a collector.
