Seeing as this is a mediterranean market, I stopped by here to buy something unique. I bought a soft drink that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I scoped the store out, and it seemed like an average mom and pops store. Their selection of wines is pretty good, as they have a good variety of red and white wines. I get to the register and ask the guy if he charges for using card, which he responds«no.» Feeling a good vibe from this place, I decide to buy some lotto tickets and try my luck. Well, he messes up what I asked, and that’s probably due to the fact that he was too busy arguing with someone over the phone. He then says that he’d have to charge me a $ 1 fee for paying lotto with debit, and another $ 0.50 for using debit for the soda. Luckily I had cash on me, which I usually never carry. So if you come here, make sure to pay in cash as the guy working here will try to nickel and dime you with debit/credit card fees. Otherwise, it’s best to go to other convenience stores.

I just visited Uncle Nick’s Liquor and Market on 05÷01÷15 Friday and I’m impressed that the guy working the front counter, and I’m not sure if he’s the business owner or not, but had good facial recognition since I’ve only gone into the store a handful of times, but he recognized me, had some relevant small talk chatter that referenced some of my buying preferences and overall gave a good warm and welcomed feeling that a small business should have and I love about entrepreneurs over big chain businesses. For that reason, I’d say and encourage the neighborhood and residents to check this place out and support your local businesses. The pricing is fair for a convenience store. Sometimes a purchase isn’t just about the price it’s about the humanity and supporting the locals. I noticed they used to have a sign(may still have it, I’m not sure) that mentioned this store was under either new management or new ownership and touted having a «new attitude» so whomever ran a business here before must have had a bad reputation, but for whatever happened, that was then, this is now… and I’d say give Uncle Nick a chance and drop by and see what you think for yourself. Parking is easy, this is located between the Mackay’s Donuts and Rice Things Japanese Restaurant at the corner of Artesia Blvd and MacKay Lane.

Wow, Mini Homemade Fresh Pizzas Every Friday in Redondo !! middle eastern recipe with many varieties: 1. Lahmajune(beef & red pepper), 2. Manaesh-Zahtar Bread, 3. Spinach & Cheese Bread, 4. Spicy Olive Bread w/Cheese Bread. These are NOT served hot in the store, they are purchased in bag of 6 for less than $ 7, etc. These are terrific for a party because they are a good price, easy to prepare, delicious. Lightly grill them on both sides in a frypan or grill or skillet(add little oil to the pan first, sauteed fresh garlic is even better). Freezer no problem, still cooks in minutes… This is my secret party pleaser; please call Uncle Nick if you are buying large amounts for a party so that they don’t sell out, which is extremely disappointing! Their bakery source is Arax Bakery in Hollywood which has excellent reviews, also on Unilocal
