Porters Alignment & Brake Service

This shop rocks I’ve known Pat for years. I became friends with him as a result of our love for old cars and his work ethic. He has worked on my classic cars for years my daily drivers and new truck. He’s a good honest patriot his guys in the shop all are professional and knowledgeable people. I’ve referred many folks to him they always call and thank me. As for the combat vet who’s review I read slamming this shop & Pat I’m embarrassed that any vet would use his service record to aid in discrediting these guys. I am also a Vietnam combat vet and that has absolutely nothing to do with services I receive from anybody. I don’t use my military service to whine and sniffle about how I’ve been treated this guy should go back into BASIC TRAINING I think he missed some discipline.

Great experience. Mario, Pat, and Carl are among the most professional automotive specialists I have encountered in a long time. They completed extensive repairs on my 1928 Model A Coupe Hot Rod (mechanical and electronics) in a timely manner and at a very fair price. I will continue to use and recommend Porter’s Alignment… They are GREAT

I’m new to the area and I was completely lied too! I was informed that I could get some electrical work done. I was completely misled. I requested to have my truck checked out before any work was conducted. That never happened! and the job was not completed correctly and I was way overcharged. I needed to replace a part and I got it jimmy rigged.
I’m writing this review to save other people the hassle of bad business practices at Porter’s Alignment & Brake Service. I’m writing this review to save the veteran community the hassle of bad business practices. This is the thanks I get from serving the country.

a little expensive but do good work

In restoring my ’64 Mercury Comet, I went to Porter’s for installation of a brake conversion from a ’78 Granada. Porter’s did the installation with no trouble at all. I later took this same car in for other work such as an alignment and complete engine and transmission installation… along with the many other issues that need addressing while making a restoration vehicle road worthy. I can’t say enough about Pat Porter’s work ethic and attention to detail. I have referred other ‘car guys’ to Porter’s who in turn have referred others to him as well. Car repairs cost money. I found Porter’s to be a great deal for the great work they do.

I called Porter’s Alignment & Brake after another shop in Long Beach told my wife she needed new breaks and new shocks. Pat told me to bring it on by and he’d take a look to confirm. I dropped by and he told me the shocks were fine and that the breaks had a little bit more life in them. I asked him what he would do and he said he would give it a few more months and not waste money on pads/​resurfacing rotors if there is still some left.
I really appreciated the honest appraisal I got from Porter’s. It’s nice knowing that there are still honest, straight-​shooting shops out there!

Took another one of my cars to Pat today. He did a great job (as usual), and I can’t think of a better place to take may cars. I need brakes and rotors on my Toyota. I will defiantly be having Pat’s shop do the work!

wow! i got totally ripped off! took my classic car in there… and they charged me $ 110 for a part that my parts guy has for $ 30 and then he charged me another $ 90 for the labor… wow! i would shop around before going there… the car runs great… but over charged!
so this gets better… after a month… i take my falcon to another shop because my car is doing this weird rattle… turns out my tires are loose… so porters… didn’t bother to tighten the main bolts… so the alignment they did on my car goes out the window… i need another alignment… they charged $ 400 for nothing! wow!

When my wife’s Chrysler SUV needed new brakes, I didn’t know where to go since we haven’t had to do too much work on it (sure wasn’t going to go to a dealer!). So I asked my neighbor, who is a mechanic at another brand’s dealership, if he could recommend someone, and he mentioned Porters.
I called them in the morning, was able to get it in before noon and back several hours later. All four brakes had to be replaced and they did a great job. Also, they were so bad that you could hear the metal grabbing when braking, and they didn’t try to sell me on needing new rotors. We have had it back for a while now and no squeaking or anything.
I would definitely go back to them.

I’ve been going to Porters for many years now, and they are the most honest folks I’ve encountered working in the automotive repair space. They will not fix a car that doesn’t need fixing!
I came in today with my Honda after the brake light came on. The guys at Porters inspected it, test drove it, reset the maintenance setting and sent me on my way. They insisted I didn’t need brakes or any other repairs and sent me on my way.
The guys are friendly and honest and I really appreciate how they do business. They do work on a lot of specialty vehicles, but they have taken care of my Honda all these years. Great guys – I send everyone I know to them!

There are plenty of places to receive a cheap brake job. Good luck. Porters is not really the place to take your run-​of-​the-​mill Honda.
If however you have an unusual vehicle with unusual problems, Porters is your place. They specialize in 4wd, trucks, hot rods and sports cars. When some of the well known SB body shops send their finished and repaired vehicles for a front end repair and final alignment, you know you’ve found the right place.
I’ve had Porters replace front end components and re-​align both my foreign cars with great results.
How many brake and alignment shops do you know that can weld or reset the ring and pinion gear on a rear end. Nuf said. AAA+++
