My first pearl was in a heart, at 16. My second, at 19, in a beautiful ring. I wear the ring every day. I took my 2 yr old granddaughter to replace my pearl in my ring purchased for me there 40 years ago. We had so much fun as she chose the oysters and watched her treasures emerge! My ring is gorgeous! Maeve has a heart/Pearl pendant, and my two god daughters will have matching ones.(Maeve kept the shells!) The staff is always gracious, kind and sweet. The experiences are memories that bring a 16 year old girl back over and over and over again for 40+ years with her own family. I would never go to The Pier without a visit. If you are ever on the Pier, go visit, take a chance, $ 11.99 buys tremendous joy and incredible memories. Then gaze over the jewelry counter, they carry a great selection with reasonable prices. Thank you Mitz.

Absolutely love the jewelry they have. Very nice and patient people here. I was just window shopping but ended up getting a necklace. I love my new necklace :)

Every time that the Michael Unit and I come to the Redondo Beach pier, we visit Mie Pearl and select raw oysters to find a pearl. I must have 100 of all colors and sizes by now. I have no idea what I’ll do with them, but it’s kind of our special thing(awwww, how romantic). It’s an inexpensive date and a gift that lasts longer than flowers. And it’s a gift from the guy I truly love.

Two loose pink pearls have been rolling around like tiny coconuts in my office for years since a trip to Hilo Hattie’s off of Front Street in Maui so long ago. When my daughter was 8, she selected an oyster and got two small, yet beautiful pink pearls. The Maui Diver’s settings at the store in Lahaina were astronomically priced, so to the mainland they came. After eight years of looking at these two loose guys, I decided that for my daughter’s 16th birthday, I would finally get them settings. After googling«Pearl Jewelry settings» in my area, I found Mie Pearl and jaunted over to Redondo Pier to see what they had to offer. The owner is very nice and assisted me in finding a beautiful pendant setting and ring in my price range. He also gave me a discount and set them within a half hour. Just enough time for a quick clam chowder lunch! The store has very nice jewelry for men, women, and children. Many sea life pendant offerings, such as silver whale tails, dolphins, and sea stars present — after all, they are on the pier. My daughter loved her necklace. I later gave her the matching ring for Christmas. I am a generous mom, I know, but this purchase was cheaper than the car I was thinking of getting her. That comes next. The joys of parenthood. Definitely a fun place to stop by if you are visiting the Redondo Beach Pier. This is my favorite place to go when I feel lucky and want to go pick an oyster. Tonight was one of those nights. I picked a total of three oysters, one of which had three white with pinkish tinted pearls in them! Super cool! The other two oysters gave me black pearls with a bluish tint to them. All five pearls were beautiful!!! Oysters are $ 11.50 each + tax, which is not bad. Unlike many other«pick a pearl» places you will come across, this place has a high incidence of oysters that carry black pearls(if that is what you are into). About 10 years ago, when I came to this place, my brother in law and I both picked oysters with black pearls. :) They were gorgeous! Tonight, there were two ladies ahead of me who also picked oysters that had black pearls in them. :) Customer service here is great. They are very friendly and never pushy or rude. Prices are pretty reasonable. I definitely think I will start the tradition of picking an oyster here every year. :) TIP: From my own personal experience, I have found that picking the ugliest oysters always yields the prettiest pearls. :) :) HAHAHA Goes with the saying…“It’s what’s inside that counts.” :)

Whenever I visit Los Angeles I make sure my family and I go to the Redondo Pier. I’m a romantic guy so when I saw that you can pick your own pearl from an oyster I was just ecstatic. I always stop by this shop and spend too much time here! I have purchased a few oysters and every time I get very nice sized pearls. its not a gag or anything, you get great pearls! I recommend it to anyone and everyone!

I took my 8 year old niece here when she came to visit. It was her birthday & I wanted to give her an experience, rather than just a thing. She had a great time picking just the right oyster, and when it was opened… she got a black pearl(see me sitting here green with envy?!?) She was clearly pleased with all of the people gathered around her oohing & aahing at her fantastic pick. The manager showed her some settings & she chose a cute sterling silver plumeria flower. We went inside while he drilled and set it & then walked home. She didn’t stop playing with it/talking about it for the rest of the night, so I think it was a big hit!

After eating at New Tony’s, my niece and I stopped at a counter outside of Mie Pearl. They have a display where you can choose your own oyster for $ 9.99. There is a little birdbath-like basin with oysters in it. They give you tongs and they will open it for you and clean your pearl. It just so happens that my niece picked one with a nice sized black pearl. The guy cleaned it with salt, sized it and told us that it was worth about $ 75. Not a bad deal for $ 10.81! They offered to mount it, but weren’t pushy about it. They did have some beautiful jewelry in the store.
