Lanakila Outrigger Canoe Club

I’ve been with this club for one week. I’ve never paddled before but the coaches have been so helpful and encouraging. If you want a great workout with great people you should definitely check this place out.

I think living in Southern California and not getting in the ocean once in a while is a CRIME. Lanakila offers a great fun, safe and healthy way to get in the ocean regularly. The members are friendly and love their sport. Dolphin and seal sightings are a daily occurrence. Weekly practices are usually led by world class talent. Summer races are in great locations across Southern California. If you are interested in being around great people in a great setting getting a great workout, then Lanakila is a club to check out. WOW! I didn’t know about this.
The club which according to their website is a racing organization in Redondo Beach, and a member of the Southern California Outrigger Racing Association.
I stumbled upon the area where they store their boats when I was at Moonstone Park.
I went to their website and it looks like to join you just show up for practice.

Lanakila Outrigger Canoe Club is based in Redondo Beach, California. We have as many as 5 – 6 mens teams and 5 – 6 womens teams in a given season, and have varying levels of experience in each team from beginers (novice) to world class athletes who have competed in the Olympics. That is over 150 paddlers each season.
People who have never paddled before are encouraged to come out. There is even a whole division of people who have never paddled before called NOVICE paddlers. The races are shorter, and much instruction is given. So it’s OK to get involved at any time — you get to join a whole bunch of people in the same boat — so to speak…
Lanakila welcomes all potential paddlers and paddlers from clubs around the world (including visiting paddlers) to join us for practice.
