Best ever lobster bisque soup. Save this place for special occasions. Very cool place and right on the water! Great service!

Came here with a girlfriend and had a few drinks. We were there waiting for a table for a little over 25 mins and finally got seated. The food was great and the server we had was attentive. The reason I am giving this place a low rating is because the waiter shorted us about $ 30. As we waited for my change back for a little over 15 mins we got up and had mentioned it to the waiter who seemed to be ignoring us when we flagged him down, we finally got our change back. I guess he felt he would take advantage of us and took a $ 30 he thought he should get himself. That’s stealing.

An important day to my wife and I(anniversary), we made reservations at the CH for 6:30. We arrived a few minutes late but were quickly seated by a window with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Our server arrived not long after and took our drink orders, which came fairly quick along with a card signed by the on duty staff. After we reviewed the menu, which by the way had our names on them wishing us a Happy Anniversary, we waited for at least 20 minutes for our server to follow up as it seems he was busy«entertaining» a table in front of us. Yes I said entertaining, this fellow thought he was a comedian and was having a great time with this table, I finally had to flag him down to take our order. OK, order placed, then we waited and thank goodness we had a nice view of the ocean and being as it was special day to us we made some great conversation. After about 40 minutes our order arrived, My wife had the Ahi and I the Filet Mignon. It was worth the wait as our meals were excellent. After we had finished, our table was cleared and our server brought us a complimentary piece of «mud pie,» which we shared. The restaurant itself is very nice, is in a great location and appears to be well maintained. The two of us had been there before on special occasions and we will be back. Prices? Well a bit steep, but great food.

I have always loved this restaurant. My step-dad is a total meat and potatoes guy and this has always been his go-to place when we want to go somewhere nice. My boyfriend was in town a few weeks ago and we decided to come here for desert. I have always thought that coming here and having wine while we wait for the incredible Lava Cake would be an amazing date. And it was! We were in a bit of a hurry so I called ahead and asked the manager if they could throw a lava cake in for us and we would be there in a few. They did and I really appreciated that. Frederick took really good care of us and the new Pinot Noir they were featuring was amazing. Thank you for a night to remember.

Went on Mother’s Day. Wow, for the price of the food. The presentation was horrible. Food: King Salmon. Nothing special… Taste like my salmon I prepare at home. Crab cakes appetizer(waitress brings out one) six ppl share 15 $(small portion) waitress brings out under cook bloody prime rib. I was grossed out. I had enough. I will not be returning again.

I made a reservation for Mother’s Day brunch at this Chart House. I have great memories of going to the CH in Santa Monica as a child, so I thought I would take our family to this one, as it is closer to our current place. The reservation was at 11:45am. We arrived at 11:33, and waited about twenty five minutes to get seated. It was very packed, but there were visibly open seating area. As we were getting seated, I asked if we can take an open seating area behind us. The host said, «no, we are fully booked sorry.» I didn’t think it’s such a big deal to move one group around, but fine. We waited about 45 minutes for our main entrees to arrive. Okay, I get that it’s a busy day, however, we did not receive any courtesy-apology for the wait. The food: I ordered the Chilean sea bass $ 36: this was the biggest flop to me, as the sea bass was not what I expected. I was hoping to take a bite into an amazingly flaky, buttery-like fish. However, this had a rubbery texture, and it tasted more like monkfish. Looks may be similar, but I know the difference between the too. Fail. Brother ordered the stuffed tilapia $ 30: I didn’t take a bite into it because I was utterly disappointed at my fish. He told me it tasted like sour barf. Is that detailed enough? Mom ordered the macadamia crusted mahi $ 38: she seemed to enjoy this dish, wish was paired with sweet potato mash. I personally thought the mash had an extra added unnecessary flavor in it, but she liked it and that’s what matters. Dad ordered the scallops and shrimp $ 30~: three shrimps, three scallops. The scallops were actually cooked well, while the shrimp was overlooked. All in all, I was very disappointed with the food. You pay for the view, and the rest is just bleh.

We got here a little early, valet’d our car and had a glass of wine at the bar. We planned our reservation for 6:30pm knowing that sunset was around 7:30. By the time we were seated the sun was shining in the windows and many of the patrons facing the window had sunglasses on. Because it was 2 of us at a 4 top we angled away from the sun until it was setting. We started with Fanny Bay oysters which was expectedly delicious. We also had the thyme fire roasted shrimp, which was also good. My wife and I split a bowl of clam chowder because my wife likes to judge a restaurant on their clam chowder. It was pretty good, not the best, but pretty good. I had the spiced ahi for my main course and my wife had the prime rib. The ahi was amazing. The prime was good but I find prime rib to be good or bad, it is what it is. The waitress recommended the spiced ahi and it was a great recommendation. The service was great, we were not rushed, and the etiquette was what I would expect from fine dining. Unfortunately, this is not always the case at some fine dining establishments. I would come back. I am surprised by the mediocre reviews.

Good food… But service stunk! Granted we arrived 20 min before closing but they were rushing us through our experience so bad, it was weird! I overheard the staff talking about going«out tonight». And I guess I get that. But, for a high end high service restaurant… It was a joke! My husband spent $ 39 on a steak, and at 9:50 was declined a second glass off cab to accompany his steak! No last call. Just an «I’m sorry»… What a let down. We even sat at the bar to be quick as we knew it was late… Will not return.

I’ve been coming here since 1983 when I took up residency in the beach apts upstairs at Harbor Cove. While the age is creeping in a bit in the surroundings, the Chart still offers one of the most pristine ocean view dining rooms anywhere on the west coast, a delicious array of steaks, seafood and the like, consistently good service and a long established salad bar that well, hasn’t exactly kept up with the times but you didn’t come for just the salad right. If you want to feel comfortable, have a great dinner while watching the whitewater outside your window, go the the Redondo beach Chart House. You won’t be disappointed.

Never been here till today. Did not even know we had one in Redondo beach. Delicious happy hour food, at a great price. I do like this Caesar salad, not on HHr. Cocktails are made well & not too sweet, for me. The server Lanka was very nice & on top of it. Not sure why some others give it such a bad review. It’s a chain Resturant but with wonderful beach views. I’ll be back.

DONOTPLANYOUREVENTHERE. My experience today was one of the worst. I’ve been looking for a venue for my wedding ceremony so I contacted Brittany R., Sales Assistant(I already had her info when I first emailed the restaurant through their website, but the receptionist gave me her info again when I asked for a person that I can talk to about my wedding). I arranged a meeting with her for a venue tour on 3⁄17 at 11:00AM at the restaurant. She confirmed the time and place by a reply saying«See you tomorrow.» So my girlfriend and I went to the restaurant. We arrived little early(10:10) so we just looked around and waited. 10:50 — no one showed up. 11:00 — someone should be there but I didn’t see a person. So we thought there might be another entrance to the restaurant and explored the place but couldn’t find any. 11:04 — I called Brittany and she didn’t pick up so left a voice message saying«We are in front of the main entrance and were wondering if you’re here yet.» We ended up waiting 10 more minutes and left. We could have waited more but we thought if a salesperson or a person who provides customer service doesn’t honor her promise and doesn’t appear on time, she is not professional, reliable, and trusted. This is not the end of the story. I got a call from her at 11:51, which I didn’t even bother to pick up because it was so over. But I wondered what she would say. Surprisingly, no voicemail/message left. Instead, she sent me an email. First couple lines — «I was up in our venue when you called my direct line. Our front doors have to be shut during non business hours. There is a side door with a door bell where it says chart house offices.» OK, so you wanted me to explore the place, somehow find a side door that connects to chart house office(which I still have no idea where it is), assume that you are inside waiting for us while not picking up my call, and ring the bell and cross our fingers that you’re in the office? Really? Seriously? If you were really in your office, you should’ve at least came outside and waited for your customers in front of the venue, NOTINYOUROFFICE. Are you going to sit in your office and wait for me to find«the side door» and«ring the bell» to ask for your help on my wedding day? Oh, and did I mention? She never said/mentioned/wrote words like«sorry» or «apologize» or any words that have similar meaning. She thought this whole situation was not a big deal?

I’ve been coming to Chart House since 1998. In fact, the very first one I ever been to was this one in Redondo Beach. They have a number of locations by the beach, but I think Redondo has the best view of the ocean. Great service, and hands down the best dessert of them all — Molten Lava Cake. It’s made fresh to order, takes about 45 minutes, comes with vanilla ice cream and godiva chocolate. I come here to eat, but it’s only an excuse so I can order this dessert. Must haves: Appetizers Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes — tastes very fresh and it’s got a nice sauce that comes with it. Calamari & Friends — Probably the best calamari anywhere. Soups: Clam Chowder — as good as it gets Dinner Surf & Turf — You can’t go here without having the filet and lobster tail Any of their Salmon dishes Sides Creamed Spinach

I’ve had their Prime Rib($ 30 for regular cut) many times over the years however this past weekend, it was way more delicious and flavorful than in the past. My husband had the crab cakes which come with two over a white sauce. It was a typical canned crab but luckily not the imitation kind. The salad bar is a great deal if you’re a fan of caviar. Prices overall have increased a lot over the past few years but I guess that’s not totally surprising. The only downfall is that there menu seems to always evolve and something like the shrimp trio(which I love) was not available anymore. Positive is they are part of the Landry’s group so you can earn points for every meal. I’m not a big fan of the valet($ 4) as it’s typically only 1~2 guys working but much better than self parking outside of the building which is metered.

A really nice place to go for happy hour. It’s from 4:30 — 6:30, Monday-Friday. You must sit in the bar area, but there’s still a view of the ocean. It’s not loud or super crowded either. It’s a perfect place and a nice environment to have some light food and drink. The prices on their happy hour menu are very reasonable as well, nothing is over $ 7 and most things are less than that. I had the hummus trio. $ 4. Three different kinds of hummus served with plantains and pita bread. Tasty and worth it. I also had the prime rib sliders. $ 7. You get three and the quality is good. A little bland but the au jus helps. I recommend asking for horseradish sauce to go with it, then you’ve got yourself a mighty fine slider! I tried the shrimp tacos too. Just ok. I wouldn’t order them again. The winner was the kim chee calamari. $ 6. There’s actually no kim chee in it, but it’s still really good! So good, we ordered another. The happy hour drinks are a great deal. Some great beer on tap for $ 4. Well drinks just $ 4, wine is $ 5, a few cocktails including a margarita and mojito for $ 6, and some select martinis for $ 7. The service was also friendly and terrific. I never thought of the Chart House as a place to go for happy hour. Glad I did and I’ll be back for more!

i was here about a year ago, and ow i have the time to write the review. so i could’ve changed since. But i believe that any restaurant should have the best service at all time, not the customers best because each person is different, but the best the restaurant can offer The website is misleading, so be warned… the pictures on the website on the outside is uncanny. it looks awesome. but when you get there… it seems like different place. however the interior looks nice so no real complain there… when i went, it was extremely over crowded so frequently waiter will bump or hit my chair by passing by. and the sunset seemed nice but extremely painful to eat dinner if you go there on bad time The food, was pretty okay, not the best but also not the worst. i can’t remember what i had but i do remember my appetizer the shrimp and mango tower… every interesting thing. i felt like i can do this. but it wasn’t my ideal to order that. service was slow that day but that was expected because i went on a busy day. and i had to leave early so it felt the waiters were working too slow…

I was telling my fiancé how I think Charthouse is for the older crowd. Not quite the senior crowd, but the«set-in-your-ways-i-just-want-steak» crowd. This sums up my father and his palate. The ambiance is a bit dated as well; cheesy printed carpet, glass decorations and low lighting. Sure! The view of the ocean is cool and the salad bar makes me laugh. What is this Sizzler?! I have been to my fair share of steakhouses/seafood places, you name it. Flemings, Ruth’s Chris, Mortons and The Capital Grille. However, even though the menu had some solid choices, we were there for a small birthday celebration complete with small bites and sparkling beverages. I have to applaud the dishes that did come out. Our waitress was friendly, took down our orders by memory and lingered at times. We shared the charcuterie and cheese board(heavy on the proteins, not my favorite cheese selection, fig jam, toasts and grapes), Kim Chee Calamari(this had a great spice to it, sauce coated every piece), and the Coconut Shrimp. The shrimp were butterflied, and set on top of the white fried crunchy things, which in fact had a lot more of that and not the shrimp. Some of the others enjoyed the Lobster Bisque and the Gazpacho. Tasty bites but not my kinda place I would want to be a regular at!

Traveling for Hubby’s birthday didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped — our plane had mechanical problems, we got on another flight, our luggage was lost and we didn’t make it to the Chart House until closing time. Johnny was a dream and didn’t blink twice when we asked for a table. He wrangled Andrew into being our serving who was gracious and truly a pro. Their patience and last-minute gift of dinner were truly appreciated. They had no idea it was Hubby’s birthday or the trials and tribulations we had been through before showing up on their doorstep — they were just pros and gave us a table. That was only the beginning of a terrific ending to a rough evening. We had the lobster spring rolls and New Wave Surf and Turf, both outstanding choices paired lovingly with a glass of one of my favorite red wines, de Lythe. It couldn’t have been a better meal, better service and spectacular ocean view. They saved the night, the trip and the birthday. Thank you Chart House. HUGEHUGSTOYOU!

What a night, in the most positive way. The Chart House in Redondo Beach was the designated location by my 90 year old grandmother to celebrate her birthday. She loves the view here, and it’s impossible to argue with her. We had a nice table with a good ocean view just back from the windows, which was the perfect vantage point for a phenominal sun set. The staff was all very gracious, they knew of our birthday celebration in advance, and they rolled out the red carpet, a customized menu, signed card from the staff, and several passing birthday greetings. My grandmother felt like a queen! Our evening was directed by our server, Jeff/Jeffrey, who had spot on recommendations, and gave great detail around the preparation of each dish. Jeff, you made a special night all the better, thanks for your personal touch. I also enjoyed your wine recommendation. For appetizers the table split two items, the steamed artichoke, which was cooked to perfection and comes with an array of dipping options. We also enjoyed the shrimp & crab stack, which is super fresh and made all the better with a special dipping sauce that Jeff created. I can only comment on my entre, which was the king salmon, it was perfection, such a good cut of fish, and the preparation and vegetables was really good. We also enjoyed the sizzling mushrooms and gorgonzola risotto, which are side order items. Did I mention the clam chowder — solid, get it! If you love chocolate, and my grandmother does, get the lava cake, it made my cheeks tingle it was so good. What more can I say? The Chart House absolutely delivered.
