Most recently, I’ve lived at the Somerset apartments in Factoria and the ParkRidge apartments on NE8th in Crossroads. After living here at The Village at Overlake Station for 2 years, I’m still impressed at how much nicer it is at a fraction of the cost. First of all the location can not be beat. It’s 2 blocks from the Microsoft campus, 4 blocks from 520, Trader Joes is across the street, MaryMoor is a 4 minute drive, there’s a bus station attached the the complex.. . I mean seriously. You can’t get more convenient. Then let’s talk about the completely enclosed beautiful court yard with the water fountain and children’s playground. Okay, so it’s a bit dated(especially carpet wise), but where they lack in the«new kitchen appliances» department, they make up for by regularly pressure washing the free COVERED parking garage floors and regularly washing the windows. Also they have an email system that lets you know when a package is delivered(very handy for Amazon one-click junkies). They even had someone do a courtesy run on Christmas Eve door to door to make sure everyone got their packages before the office closed at 2pm. They host random pancake mornings, hot cocoa to celebrate the New Year and other community events. They even had free Christmas tree removal today! The maintenance people are fast(usually coming within 24 hours). It’s a very culturally diverse community(lots of people with disabilities and a huge mix of ethnic groups) which I like. My only complaint is that the gym closes too early(at 5:30pm). Seriously, other than that I couldn’t be happier. I’m sure there’s a long waiting list to live here so if you’re interested I would recommend getting on it. You won’t regret it.

I don’t know why people don’t like this place. Yes, there is noise from kids playing and some wierdos that hang around the parking garage, but there is a daycare here and all the units are located above a transit center, so it kind of comes with the deal. The buildings are secure since you need a coded key to get in and out; it’s clean, both outside and in, the windows are double-pane, and it is very dry so mold never grows. I found the management to be very prompt in responding to maintenance requests, always within 24 hours. They have a strict«no smoking» policy, which is great! The only downside is when they shut off your hot water all day to work on the boiler, or section off the parking garage to paint, etc, but those things need to be done to keep up the standard. It’s nice that they make the effort and don’t let this place go down hill. Honestly I haven’t lived in(or seen through my friends experiences with apartment living) a cleaner, sturdier, or friendlier staffed apartment complex — especially for the price!

Holy cow, don’t live here if you have standards. My friend had her car broken into in the middle of the day. If your«lucky» enough to answer the phone when they call your name off the waitlist. You have to run to the leasing office and put a deposit down before someone else. Super stressful. Not to mention the Rude people you live with. I was once accused of trying to poison my neighbors. The maintenance guy was extremely weird and I did not trust him in my home. I get that it’s low income housing but the way it’s played off makes it seem nicer then it is. If you have to live here, sign the short lease.
