Took time off work and drove there in December. Lights off, door locked. Middle of the day. Took time off work today, January 19^th. Light off, door locked. 11am. If this owner won’t take reservations and doesn’t show up at the hours posted on the door they don’t deserve anyone’s business.

Start on time, speedy, good cut, careful, clean. Very pleasant experience and great value for the price.

I did put 4 stars, thinking that the cash-​only payment would be good to post clearly — I could have gotten cash while I waited — then moved to 5 when I remembered how pleasant she was about it all, and that the price and wait were so much better than the other barbershop I reviewed! Mieko is great. I’ve been going to her for a couple years now. I’ve changed my hair style a couple times now, and she always does a great job. I also really like the fact that she’s quick. I’m usually in and out in maybe 15 minutes.

I’ve gone a couple times and she layered my hair very nicely, and the price is extremely reasonable. When my sister visited from out of town, she was able to fit my sister in for a quick hair cut after work. I had been going to a place in the University District for 10 years, and after that place went out of business I will be going to Meiko’s from now on.

The green awning in front of the store does not lie at all. This really is a small barbershop run by one woman named Mieko, and she is awesome. I parked across the street from here and walked in looking for a high and tight military haircut. Mieko was already working with some other customers and conversing with them in Japanese. When it was my turn, she seated me in the chair and had no problem talking to me in English.
She was very friendly and asked for my name and made other small talk with me, probably because this is how she gains long-​time clients. I had very little hair to begin with and it didn’t take very much time for her to make it even shorter. Although a normal men’s haircut would have been $ 16, she only charged me the seniors’ rate of $ 14, likely because I mentioned the military or because it was very easy work for her. I just gave her a twenty-​dollar bill and told her to keep the change. Definitely a great place to get a haircut, and I admire the effort it takes to run a business solo.

First time to cut my hair at Mieko’s, wonderful experience, I will definitely come back. I have long hair but a little bit messy, because I once cut my hair myself and that was a disaster. Mieko did a great job trimming my hair at the same length and gave me a cute look. I love it! And the price is great too!

I was visiting from Tokyo and since I read Mieko gave good short haircut for Asian I gave it a try. Making a same day appointment (in fact, appt for 30 minutes later) was easy. Parking was abundant near her shop. Mieko was nice and pleasant to talk to. Took 20 minutes for a quick trim and only cost $ 16 + tips. I was happy with my cut for the price. My short hair was tidied up and nothing overly fancy — no layering or anything. I was satisfied. If I need another haircut in Redmond, I’ll go there again for the efficient and no nonsense haircut.

A-​OK is right, the best thing about this is its right next door to palmers east
where you can get a brew while waiting to be seated.

Mieko takes the time to get to know her clients and has been cutting my husband’s hair for years. She gets to know her clients and always has a great attitude.

I’ve been to Mieko’s more times than I can count. She cuts my short Asian hair really well and pays close attention to all the details.
She’s very friendly and it’s a great opportunity to practice Japanese. Make sure to bring cash or check as she doesn’t accept credit cards. Great price for the service. While on Eastside, I’ll be going to her exclusively.

I come here anytime I’m in town visiting relatives and need a haircut. Meiko is super friendly and does a great job. The shop is neat and clean. For reference, I’m a male with short, straight hair.

Excellent and creative with short hair. I got medium curly hair she listen to me and did great layers… loved the style… can’t say its exccellent… but she is confident for nay short hair styles…

I went there for my haircut and hair dyeing. I’m really satisfied about result. Also this place has very reasonable price range especially by comparing regular Japanese hair salon price ranges.

Mieko is great. I have been going there for years, even though I don’t live in Redmond anymore.

This is a one Woman show. She is great… I’m always in and out in less than an hour. No appointment needed. She is great at styling my hair using my ideas and making them work… Also very nice. Good easy place to get your hair chopped.
