Hi-Fi Brewing

Went to 3 breweries the other day. This was the best. I tried zero food items, but the beer is great. It was a relaxed Saturday, just popped in on a recommendation and loved it. The atmosphere was great. The bartender was playing records, Johnny Cash some lesser known tunes. It was chill. At one point the Brewer, super cool guy, came out and talked beer with my wife and me. And the beer… I love something different in a brewery. Everyone has an IPA to hang their hat on, and some other common variety, but these were some really cool beers. Peanut butter porter and I really loved the peppermint porter; so good, so new, so original and great for the holiday season. Reminded me of hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps. I’ll definitely be going back, often.

I went to this place on the night they were celebrating their 2^nd anniversary.
It was super loud with some pretty hardcore music. There was a lot of people and only one bartender, I felt like their were other workers but they were just walking around eating pizza.
Beer was alright, not sure if it’s my style. But seemed as if most people enjoyed it!
I came here because Black Raven closed early and this place was walking distance.
Decent place, just not my vibe.

Great Atmosphere and Good Beer!

The pumpkin spice ale is delicious. Seriously. Sat at the bar looking into the brewery and the owner grabbed us and gave us a tour. He was really nice. Love this place.

What a great brewery! Most of the beers I’ve had have been great, and the porter is fantastic. It has a cool vibe going, with everything related to records. You can see into their brewery, and everything looks high-​tech and in tip-​top shape. It looks very clean and sterile. Everyone working in there has gloves, a mask, etc. I love breweries, but sometimes you take a tour or peek in and the floors are sticky, people working with the beer aren’t wearing gloves or clean clothes, etc. Not to be a snob, I get that it’s a brewery, but if I’m drinking (a lot) of it, it’s nice to see it in tip-​top shape. Plenty of parking and a friendly staff.

Hi-​Fi is a pretty good spot if you enjoy good beer. Their selection is limited but l liked almost all of their brews. Clean place, cool atmosphere. Service is pretty good, depends on who’s pretending. Wish their hours ran a little bit later than they do.

Omg, what’s not to like? It is a bit small, but has an open feel. Love the records, music and most of all the beer!

Really enjoyed this brewery! Great beers on tap. I had the Belgian which was really good. I also tried the smoked wheat and the pale. I really liked the interior, it was retro themed. I would definitely stop by here again.

We stopped here on the way back from yet another epic Bellingham-​to-​Portland food and beer pilgrimage. We’d first heard about Hi Fi when they did a brewer’s night up in our neck of the woods a few months ago, and wanted to check them out in person.
I have to say, I was very impressed with the décor. It was very unique, with a definite mid-​century vibe yet featuring modern touches throughout. The vinyl on the turntable and throwback video games playing on the big screen TV were balanced by the clean lines of the modern white furniture and cool artwork throughout.
And yes, they had good beer (and cider) too! I had the tart and refreshing cranberry rosehips cider, while hubby enjoyed a good IPA. Our friend got the sampler, which was served inside a carved out old vinyl revord. Very creative! The service was super friendly, and the crowd mellow on a rainy Tuesday evening. Oh and, bonus, they have several board games to play while you’re enjoying your brew!

The guys behind the counter excitedly brought us into the back to blow the steam whistle they got off an old train.
The whole place is a very modern and SUPER Hip take on Mad Men and the futuristic view from the 60s.
Plus, they have video games and board games.
I could live here.
Especially since they have delivery from pizza places and delis within a block radius
And unlike Black Raven, the music playing is soooo good (Beck/​Black Keys, etc)

This place is super clean and cool but their beers were just … ok at best.
Service was also alright and forgettable (not in a bad way).
My friend and I came here on a Saturday night and it was pretty full. We ordered the beer flight so we got to try all of their beer and I personally didn’t really enjoy any of them, but I also didn’t hate any of them.
I enjoyed their porter the most. They accept credit cards!

This area of Redmond is fast becoming «Brewer’s Row» with Black Raven down the street. Very chill atmosphere, great music and board games. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Decent TV to watch sporting events (better TV than at Black Raven). Free WiFi. They are dog friendly. No Food served (other than beer nuts and pretzels), but many restaurants are nearby and deliver to the brewery (Jimmy John’s, Flying Saucer Pizza etc.). There is also the occasional food truck in the area. Got a free tour of the brewery by one of the owners.
Overall great experience. This is my NEW favorite spot in town to chill. Just wish they had better hours during the week!

I am new to the beer world and have been trying breweries all over the Eastside, Seattle and Portland and have found Hi-​Fi to be one of my favorites even though I have only been twice.
Our first time in, John was there to serve us, we ordered our drinks and we told him that we were first-​timers and he welcomed us and told us about the place, and the beers and had a great and positive attitude and seemed excited about the whole thing. There was also a woman behind the counter who had great energy and was full of smiles! Our second trip wasn’t so welcoming (different beertender) but the cookie butter beer was AMAZING which is why I am still giving it 5 stars! I will continue to go back! Great atmosphere, inviting, delicious beer, friendly and clean!
You should make a trip!

I enjoy this newer brewery and their beers! The staff is friendly and the owner is nearly always there. Dude is always rocking a bandanna, neon kicks, a safari type shirt and a smile. :) Very friendly. You can tell he’s passionate about this place. Very clean and tidy. There’s always a ton of space and no problem parking. Willows Deli is right next door, and sometimes they have a food truck out front.
I feel like this venue is a gem just waiting to be polished. There’s so much space to work with, and I never see anyone on the right side of the place utilizing all of that empty room. I think if they put something like shuffleboard or skee ball there, they would get even more business. Something fun in that side of the building to go with the great beers! I want to see this place succeed and get the following that Black Raven has, just up the street from them.

I am not really sure how I missed this gem of a brewing company but very glad that we found it. The atmosphere is casual and Ilike how they did the bar and tables. Beer selection is GREAT and the taster that you can purchase is a great way to sample their beer. The porter is one of my favorites and it ranks high on the list of porters that I have had recently.
Although they do not have a restaurant at the brewery you can bring in your own food or have pizza delivered from a local restaurant. Friday night? you may find a food truck in their parking lot with yummy food to eat with your beer.
The staff is wonderful and really make your experience great! Check their calendar for special beers and fun event nights !

My wife and I met a couple of friends here for brews yesterday.
I can honestly say that I’m not a fan of this brewery. The venue felt bare and overly bright. Food is not served here; however, one can bring outside food in or purchase from the mobile food truck sitting outside. Two of the beers listed on the menu were currently not being poured (maddening to me).
I ended up ordering the Mix Tape #2 — Bernadette for $ 5.50 a pint. My wife ordered the Extra Mild for $ 5.50 a pint. More than likely, neither one of us would order HI Fi brews if we came across them and another venue.
These two micro brew lovers will stick with Mac & Jack, Redhook and Georgetown.

LOVED Hi-​Fi!
My husband and I went to Black Raven to get some «special release» beers, I decided to see if there were any other breweries close. Sure enough, Hi-​Fi was literally 2 blocks down the same road!
Immediately upon arrival I loved it. Very 70’s kinda vibe. Wallpaper (or paint) to look like records lined up on the walls, white retro looking chairs, beer samplers served on a record (mounted on plywood) Very cool.
We sat at the bar and chatted up Jeremy. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Even offered up a brewery tour with one of the owners (A couple of retirees from Microsoft).
The beers were good. Cask IPA and Blue Danube were my front runners!

3.5 stars. We were up in Redmond the other night to take in a play. We had some extra time and decided to go to a brewery that we have not been to before.
I got the the Viennese Lager and Steve got the Session Brown. Drinking a pint of beer can take a long time to finish so we got schooners instead.
I liked my choice of beer. It was light and tasty. Steve’s Session Brown was ok. He mentioned that he could taste a slight metallic aftertaste. I tried it and detected a note of it. He was not liking it so much however by the time he finished the glass it grew on him more.
The service is pretty good. The atmosphere is fun. In one corner is a fine ceiling light that takes one back to the 60’s all with a red lava light to boot!

My overall impression of the place is that it’s rather sterile. It’s sort of like somebody took Web 2.0 and applied it to a room. The problem is that when you click on the wall of speaker outlines, nothing happens. Looks like they spent some pretty good money on decorating, but came up a bit short on ambiance.
They do not serve food. Like Black Raven (which is just a couple of blocks down the street) they have menus from Flying Saucer Pizza and Zeeks Pizza on the tables, so you won’t starve and there’s nothing wrong with either of those choices.
The main reason to come to a brewpub is for the beer, and there are mixed results here. The only great one is the porter, aptly names «Porter» on the beer list. Their «Summer Ale» is ‘brewed in the likeness of a style unique to Cologne, Germany’ and is a credible example of the Kolsh style. Their Session Brown” is really a Mild rather than an English Brown. It is a good example of the style. I wasn’t so keen on their eponymous «Vienna Lager» but their «English Pale Ale» was a pretty decent ESB. The IPA was more of a bitter APA. It came up way short on hop aroma and taste.
There isn’t a lot of parking, but there weren’t a lot of other customers with cars there during my visit. It seems to be a fairly popular spot for bike riders. Eight or nine of them showed up at various times during my visit.
Pints are $ 5, samplers (four sample-​sized beers) are $ 5.50 with additional samples at $ 1.5o each. There is no mention of happy hour prices.
Why the misdirection on the beer names? Why not name them after song titles, or if you’re going for style names, how about the real beer style? Hopefully they’ll fine-​tune the brewing and give Black Raven a bit more competition in the future, but today I’d go with the Raven nine times out of ten.
