Sarah the nail tech is the best! Thought about writing this review while I was in her chair. We did the hour long spa pedi. As someone who gets pedis all the time from spas, this was the best yet! I will be coming back for sure(and will cheat on my spa)

It’s hard for me to give this place a bad review… I really had good expectations of this place by the front desk customer service and the price tag of what I paid I loved the front desk! I came in on the week of my bday and they were all friendly and helpful but unfortunately I did not like my hair color, that was done and after I washed out my curls, I realized that my haircut was a bit lopsided but that was the big issue. Right of the bat I told the hair colorist what I wanted and told me that it wouldn’t happen. She told me that she was only blocked of a certain amount of time and what I wanted wasn’t possible in her time frame and that I wouldn’t get the color I wanted AND that I couldn’t get they color mixed together either, that I would have to get the two colors I asked for on top of each other. I had agreed upon her telling me that the colors would be TEALANDROYALPURPLE. They came out pink and a dark greyish blue. The color looked already faded. My hair was also not bleached properly so there is still brown where there is supposed to be purple. She was however running behind schedule and had two people help color my hair. So maybe that’s why one side is brighter than the other and some doesn’t have purple? Anyway after seeing the colors for the first time they weren’t horrible. They were just not at all what I was told what I was going to get or what I wanted… I tried really hard to like it but really don’t, this is probably the first time I really found myself unhappy with a color job. And after paying $ 200 plus tip, I should get what I want or at least get the color more vibrant. On a good note they did honor the price quote they gave me which was $ 200 flat when I made my appointment and when I went to check out they told me $ 245! Ridiculous for something i was on the fence about. But when I mentioned it to her she right away fixed it with no hesitation! She was awesome! Other than that I probably won’t be back here again… I could have told them that I wanted it fixed but, I just didn’t want them touching my hair anymore… It is not worth my money…

I suggest that everyone should get a pedicure somewhere else. They put your feet in water for 2 min, rub it a little, put nail polish on and then done… This cost me $ 55. Worst pedicure ever

I’ve been a loyal customer at Gene Juarez for the better part of 30 years. I’ve always felt that they were extremely consistent in delivering a good product and a good service. Unfortunately, I had a couple of experiences at the Redmond Gene Juarez recently that made me think otherwise. I had made an appointment by phone for a haircut with Blake at the Redmond Salon for a Friday morning. I took the morning off from work to accommodate the appointment. I showed up a few minutes early, checked in and settled into the lobby. 20 minutes later I went back to the front desk to inquire about how much longer it would be. The front desk clerk seemed puzzled, said I was Blake’s first client of the day, and went to see if she could locate her. About 10 minutes later, I was informed that Blake didn’t show up for work that day and that no one else was available to cut my hair. The manager Kelli came out to apologize and said I could wait another 30 minutes or so and wait for Blake to arrive, but I didn’t have the time to wait nor did I have faith that it would only be 30 minutes. I was extremely frustrated, but understand that mistakes happen, and I agreed to another appointment on Sunday(2 days later) with a different stylist and Kelli said she would make notes in the system to give me a deal on the haircut. I showed up on Sunday a few minutes before noon and was told there was no appointment on the books and that they have no one else available to cut my hair. I was stunned at this point. They found Kelli’s notes about what happened on Friday, but explained that either someone deleted the appointment or there was a «glitch» in the system. They had no one available to cut my hair. I again waited 30 minutes for them to figure it out, and again received no service at my second attempt. The front desk Manager named Amanda apologized and handed me a card to call someone on Monday and explain my frustration. I explained that I didn’t really appreciate having a TODO list handed to me to rectify the situation and she agreed to have someone call me on Monday. I never received a phone call from anyone at Gene Juarez which told me loud and clear that my time wasn’t very important to them. I ended up contacting them to explain my frustrating experiences and received a lack luster response. Here’s my issue: My time is precious. I work full time and I have two special needs kids. I don’t get much«me» time and to sabotage my weekend and make me come in TWICE, make me pay for a sitter, take half a day off of work for a hair appointment, and to have no services rendered is very bad business. I was given a complimentary haircut and a $ 25 gift card from the Bellevue Salon and I enjoyed that experience, which is the reason for the 2 stars. The stylist Aaron was phenomenal and he helped renew my faith in Gene Juarez. Unfortunately, even though I live rather close to the Redmond Salon I won’t be going back.

Hhmmmmm. I’ve never given a low rating to anyone. It’s the first time I was disappointed with any salon! I want to give one star but my stylist was a good person at heart(not so good at colouring hair) so I’m holding myself back. Good things first. I was really excited to be here for my full balayage copperish maroon kinda look on my naturally dark hair. The receptionist was warm and friendly and so was my stylist. They took care of my pre appointment chores promptly. My expectation: I discussed in depth about how I do not wish to go too light(or golden) as this was my first time daring to change the color of my hair. However, I do wish to get a NOTICEABLE balayage with tints of copper n maroon all over. We picked two colors. She was confident that the mixing of those two would be my best option. I was eagerly waiting to see my results, like any other person getting a full balayage! Aarrggghhh: To my disappointment the mixer apparently had NOEFFECTONMYHAIR. None at all! It looks like I’ve had no color or balayage or whatsoever. Look at the pics I posted. What a waste of $ 170! I told her it’s not visible at all, she replied it will be «in sunshine». What about rest of the times? What about when I’m indoors! Argghh I didn’t even want to argue because I was in salon from 12.15−4, hungry. Arguing or rectifying would’ve added another hour or so. Never going back to gene jaurez.

Their highlighting/dying, styling, and makeup services are spot on. The Redmond location is also the best gene Jaurez. The stylists do a great job making sure the color is exactly right and that your hair receives minimal breakage. It’s the best salon I’ve ever been to. Their makeup service consists of them telling you what color and makeup structure suits you best. They give great advice.

I’m writing this review from the perspective of an individual buying a service as a gift for a family member. If someone buys a service as a gift for a beloved person(e.g. spouse) then you don’t want that person to be knowledgeable about the price and in no way to be told what the cost it was. Well, exactly that’s what happened. The staff must be too stupid to handle their services as a gift. Also if you want that gift/present to be a surprise then you don’t want that person to hear about this present until you decide to do so. Well, and here again the stupidity of their staff has really jumped in, they called my wife one day in advance to «remind» her of her appointment. So, surprised spoiled AND the overall costs shared with her. This was a total fail from Gene Juarez about a surprise present for Valentine’s Day.

I went in on Saturday for my first time because I received a gift certificate. The atmosphere was very inviting. They give you a robe and water or tea. My appointment was at 9:15 and I got taken back around 9:30. Kelly was my hair colorist and she was very nice. I sort of explained to her what I wanted and she didn’t really ask questions(I’ve never had my hair professionally colored before). I told her I wanted purple in my hair and showed her some pictures. She put the color in my hair washed it out and sent me on my way to go see June who was to cut my hair. My hair is red. There’s no denying it, there’s red in my hair. I saw the purple dye but the ends of my hair are RED not PURPLE. June asked some questions as to what I wanted and I told her I wanted thicker side bangs and my hair thinned out and the one request I had was not to cut it straight across on the bottom. Well guess what, it’s cut straight across on the bottom. My bangs are butchered. There are random chunks of hair next to my bangs that are cut short and straight across. I don’t even know how she still cuts hair. My hair cut is terrible. After using my gift card I paid 90 $. I don’t think my hair cut or color was worth it for not getting what I asked for. Sort of disappointed. I’ll stick to going to Gretchen Scott where they actually do what I ask. The only good thing about this place is how nice Kelly is. That’s about it.

I will never get my haircut at Gene Juarez again. Bless the girl that started my haircut, for I am sure she was new to cutting hair, but please have the courage to ask for help when you need it. I would have rather you NOT keep cutting my hair to try to «fix» what you started. After you left me, you told someone you felt sick and another nice girl came out to try to clean things up. Granted there wasn’t much to work with, she tried to cut side bangs, but I ended up with a chunk of choppy hair that I now have to grow out. I knew she knew my hair did NOT look the way I wanted it to, but kept saying, «just wear your hair back for a while». I am sorry, but no. Needless to say, I did not tip, but I did pay for the haircut and no one even came to ask me why my experimented was poor. What I thought would take about 45 minutes ended up taking 2 hours… For a haircut.

The staff at Gene Juarez did an amazing job with my color and cut in Redmond! Taylor was my colorist and she was very friendly, I loved chatting her up. I can’t remember the girl’s name who cut my hair but she did a great job, too. I love the wrap robe I got to wear during my appt, they hung up my jacket for me and offered up tea or water. The atmosphere is very comfortable and has a bit of luxury to it. My hair felt and looked so amazing afterward! I got tons of compliments from my friends and coworkers. The price is definitely cheaper than what I was paying before at a place in Bellevue so it was well worth it taking a chance to come here. I will definitely be back again for my cut & color hair needs, it’s such a relaxing experience here. Also be aware though that when leaving a tip for your stylists, it goes into a separate envelope at the very end when you pay the bill at the front desk.

This was easily the worst haircut I’ve ever had. First off, I had asked for only an inch cut off. I wanted to clean it up a little. The artist cut off 2 ½ inches. When I got home and checked the back with a mirror, it was COMPLETELY jagged and uneven. I went back to the salon later that evening to speak to a manager and hopefully resolve the issue. The manager set me up with a different stylist to fix the situation. The second artist I worked with shaped the hair around my face and told me the back of my hair was«perfectly even» when I asked. I trusted her and left feeling better about the cut. However, when I got home from my SECOND appointment and took a mirror to the bathroom — it was still jagged and uneven. I’ve had multiple comments on it. It’s upsetting to have spent good money on a haircut and the service was sloppy, rushed and unfinished. I think the photo speaks for itself.

Had a wonderful day, spent my first haircut at this wonderful spa! My stylist, Corey, was terrific, gave me a cut that was exactly what I had in mind. Most stylist just half listen to you. But she really listened! I know I will be back for more haircuts, and any other treatments I feel I really need! I’m a senior, but she didn’t make me feel like an old lady. That is an art form! Even with the high(sometimes incredibly high) prices I still continue to come to this salon because of their customer service. They always great you with a smile, their appointment makers are always great, I’ve never had a bad experience at the Redmond Salon. I’ve been to Bellevue and Seattle and it just doesn’t feel the same. The redmond salon is a place I would take a friend to… I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. I don’t think that the price is reflected in the quality of service.

This rating is for the BELLEVUE Gene Juarez MANAGER that apologized and not for the REDMOND Salon. I was super impressed that the manager at Bellevue responded to this post. About a week later from the review, I received an apology note that was mailed to my house. Not sure how the Manager was able to get my information, but she did. She asked to give the Bellevue location a shot and to work with their senior stylist. I really appreciate this effort to make it right. Although I have not gone back to get a do-over, I will remember this gesture and have told this story to so many co workers and they have been interested in going to the Bellevue location… some have went already… Businesses need to realize that gestures like this go a long way and that word of mouth will either hurt you or help you. Thanks again to the Bellevue Manager that wrote to me! :)

I’ve been a regular here for about seven years. During that time, I’ve seen a number of different hair stylists and colorists, mostly because my schedule makes it difficult for me to get there — so I need to see whoever is available when I am. The positive thing about Gene Juarez is the staff is, for the most part, consistently good. I’ve had some cuts that I was thrilled with, many more that I was happy with, and I don’t think any that I was truly unhappy with. My experience with the colorists has been even more positive — I’ve had a lot of great color treatments, and the colorists have made some great suggestions for me as well. The downside? I’ve only been into the spa once or twice — and to be fair, it was a long time ago — but it was nothing special, at the time at least. I’ve found other spas I like and not had a reason to go back to GJ for spa services. The place is busy, and big, and unfortunately, can feel impersonal, especially at the front desk. But I’ve gotten to know several of the colorists and stylists over the years, and everyone there is generally nice and helpful.
