I have been to many assisted living, senior care, and hospice care facilities over the last decade. First my great grandmother went into around the clock care at a facility almost a decade ago and after my recent tour of Highland Care, I have to say that I was blown away. My first experience in a facility felt cold and empty. I walked into the lounge here at the home in Redlands and that was completely different; it felt warm, people were enjoying games, some were cracking jokes at my youth. Several of the men and women came up to me to tell me they appreciated the facility and asked about my own family. I received what felt like a VIP tour as well. It was great to see the layout, I got a sense of the security knowing that staff were always on hand to assist and they knew everyone not only by name but by their personalities. Facility wise, the layout is a big loop. The residents were primarily on the west(I think) side and the maintenance, administration, and cleaning departments on the other. New renovations stood out and felt a lot of new updates to equipment, rooms, walls, floors, even the lighting had been improved. I got to see several rooms; this place has a lot of private rooms! The last facility I toured felt like a military base. Besides meeting the residents I also had a nice experience seeing the therapy rooms. My wife is a speech therapist and I could appreciate a facility that provides quality therapy. The physical therapy space is large and several residents were receiving one on one treatment when we passed. My prior experience with facilities had me believing that senior care was diminishing. Touring is not how you want to spend a few hours on a saturday, but after the cold and empty feeling I had remembered my expectations were low. This facility is not that way. I think in time this facility will continue to renovate and everything will look better and better. I recommend you take a tour, learn everything there is to know, and do this at several facilities so you have a better idea of what I’m talking about. My 94 year old grandmother is picky but I believe she would thrive in a place like this.

My Grandmother has been a long term resident at Highland Care center for 6 years. When my Grandfather passed away, my cousin and I had to make a decision to find a nice place for her, it was Country Villas at the time. Honestly my Grandmas health was in very poor condition at the time, her diabetes was out of control, she had been in and out of the hospital constantly while my Grandfather was battling lung cancer. Since she has been in their care her diabetes is under control, and has only had 2⁄3 hospital visits in the 6 years. I cannot express how happy we have been with her care. The staff at Highland care center is amazing, they take it to a personal level. They treat my Grandmother like family. They call with any issue, Jenna with social services is awesome. She updates us often if there are any concerns with my Grandma. Nobody likes to make a decision to place loved one away form family, and its not an easy one, but I highly recommend Highland care center. Very clean and well maintained

Been a long term resident for over a year now! If you’re looking for a place to put a loved one please look elsewhere this is only ok I’ve been in the army and I’ve been locked up in jail for a short time so I guess I can tolerate just anything! Look for a better place there out there.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Jeff made it possible for my mom to be accepted. The previous facility was not a good fit for my mom. Jeff went out of his way to go drive and visit my mom at the prior location. We spoke later that evening and he arranged for my mom to switch facilities to Highland Care Center of Redlands. The staff is friendly and are very patient. I also have to say the onsite social worker Jenna is awesome. Thank you guys for treating my mom so well and like family.

AT first I thought this was a nice clean place did not smell and everyone seemed nice, but nice does not cut it when you have a loved one there. When we went in they wanted to know your income, social security, what you own some I could understand but what business is it of theirs what property you own, My Dad was not there for a free ride he was fully covered under the VA, and they knew it because the VA are the ones that sent him there, while there my family and I had to be on them to feed him, or clean his mouth since he was not to have any water but could be swabbed which we did or sometimes a nurse? but we had to ask, it was so bad my Dad had flakes of skin stuck on his tongue it was so dry, one day a nurse that was covering for his regular nurse came in she was appalled at what she saw she told me to complain which I did, they told me they would talk to his charge nurse. My Dad also would want to get up and go the bathroom but he needed help and they would ignore him until he went on himself, they ignored the light if we pressed it so we had to go to the desk. My Dad deteriorated getting confused in the 3 weeks there, low and behold we get a call one morning that they had to call an ambulance to take him to the ER at the VA he was severally dehydrated and malnourished and was septic according to the VA Doctor, I kept telling them that my DAD fought for this country was a prisoner of war and this is not a way to treat him Please treat him with dignity and respect.

Rude and unprofessional. Asks for residents Social Security number over the phone and when you don’t have readily available, asks who they can call to get it. Room cost is much higher than other local(better rated) facilities. $ 232 for a private room and $ 226 for a semi-private room. Would think there would be a bigger gap in cost since a semi-private room is shared between two residents. This would then mean they are charging $ 452 for a semi-private room(for two people). Rooms themselves are rather depressing, no decoration, just plain paint and patched up wall work. Was referred by Redlands Community Hospital ER Manager who asked the patient if they have a home. If so, do they own their home. As far as I’m concerned, it’s none of their business if the home is owned. This to me means that the Nursing Facility is looking to keep the patient as long as possible and if they can’t pay, most seniors probably can’t, then they go after their home. Was thankful to get my dad out of here.
