If you don’t mind paying a premium and don’t want any help finding anything it’s a good store.

This place will send you back to your childhood as soon as you walk in! The staff is helpful, the selection is varied & not found at other comics shops. This is not just a comic book store, all sorts of memorabilia is available for purchase. If you have a request for something you don’t see on the shelves, the staff will see if it’s available on their eBay store. My boyfriend & I visit the store monthly.

This place is pretty big and somewhat organized especially in comparison to their old location years ago. They were pretty helpful in trying to find what my husband wanted, which was a particular Wolverine Bowen statue. There are lots of collectible items ranging from movie and comic collectibles. There were several questionable items available for sale specifically Nazi related items. I thought it was illegal to sell that stuff but apparently it is just in bad taste. As a person of color I did not feel comfortable waking around when I saw those items. This was the first time I had seem those items and we’ve been in that store several times before. I can definitely say I will not be back.

A good place to visit on a saturday The comic book selection seems large however after going through the boxes you find that the majority of stock are bronze age editions. A lot of collectables and a ok amount of action figures. I liked it for the selection of hard to find movie posters and old records. Prices are on the high side for many items. Expect to pay anywhere between 20 to 50% more for the same stuff that can be found at other collectible shops in the area.

You walk in the doors and you are immediately taken back to your childhood. That’s the feeling I got while I was visiting my son in Livonia and we stumbled upon this gem of a comic store. Comics as far as the eye can see. Statutes, busts, figures, toys… just a bunch of nostalgia. I’m very sad that I live in Florida and cannot visit them on a regular basis but I have done much business with them via phone. Scott, Mike the whole crew are always helpful and accommodating. I have been to MANY comic stores in my lifetime but Back to the Past is without a doubt THEBEST I’ve ever been lucky enough to visit.

Marty! Marty! Fire up the Delorean! We have to go back! Back to… Redford? What a great store. As the name implies, they’ve got just about everything retro here, not just comics. Paperbacks, used DVDs, Reservoir Dogs action figures, posters, lunchboxes, adults only vintage porn section, lunchboxes… more pop culture ephemera than you can shake a stick at. And they were playing some awesomely sleazy sounding doo-wop like you might hear in an early John Waters movie during my recent afternoon visit. Dudes are super friendly, too. Let me use their restroom tucked way away in employees-only land. Hate it when places act like their bathrooms are too good for customers. They even had movie posters in the bathroom, one of which was a nicely maligned Three Men and a Baby poster. I complimented one of the workers on it, saying that movie had it coming, and he told me they wanted to go even further with it, but needed to keep it family-friendly. Funny, considerate, tasteful — these are qualities I like to see in customer service representatives. I bought myself a weird-ass comic book called Chew, and a couple of Carol Burnett Show DVDs to give to my mom for her birthday. I might go back and buy Season One of Mad Men, too, because she likes that show and well, I want to watch it first. Ssshhh… don’t tell her!

Checked Unilocal! And sure enough a Unilocaler had been here before. Seems they setup a coupon deal. Found what I wanted and picked it up for free! Staff always amazes. Great selection and special events are incredible!

I fully admit that I’m not a comic book expert. I follow a few titles but I’m not that hip to many of them, and unfortunately so. I’ve always WANTED to be but I think my main problem is I just don’t quite know where to start. What I DO know, however, is that when I’m ready to jump on in and get schooled Back to the Past will be the place I go to get learned. The staff is just SO nice. Seriously, everyone I encountered when I popped in last week is just friendly as can be. Scott in particular was just a peach of a guy; very helpful, enthusiastic, and personable. I have a feeling they’d make some stellar teachers! The shop is tucked into a parking lot just a touch south of 96 on Inkster, although it’s easy to spot with it’s big banner and photos of comic touchstones and pop culture icons(Marilyn!) on the building. The space inside is HUGE. Racks and racks of comics fill up the shop with plastic covered wonder. I’m pretty confident that they’ll have most everything you could look for there. But they don’t just carry comics. They’ve also got a great selection of figurines and collectables, not to mention pop culturey items and nostalgic goods. As far as I can tell the price point is pretty darn good which makes the selection even more appealing(you can stock up on loads without breaking the bank!). But that’s not the only reason you should hit up Back to the Past – they’ve got the most helpful staff around!
