Poppie’s Pizza

I’m upgrading to 5 stars because everything has been perfect more recently. Our orders have come out correctly and they’ve been very generous with the toppings on the Thai chicken pizza. Also, Poppie’s always give you great coupon deals (like $ 10 off of 2 extra large pizzas at regular price), encouraging you to come back time after time.
My parents love this place so much that they request pizza from Poppie’s instead of Round Table now. They’re delighted that Poppie’s has been the most generous when it comes to the amount of artichoke they provide on their Gourmet Veggie pizza!

5 stars regarding the food. 3-​ish for the ambiance. The pizza & breadsticks are delicious. Literally, the best I have ever had. The pizza comes with many toppings including BACON! To list all their toppings & combos would leave you reading this review for far longer than you really want. The breadsticks are like none that I have ever tasted. They are made from what I believe to be pizza crust, but unlike the light, crispy crust (not thick like Round Table crust), the breadsticks are soft & chewy. Not doughy, just right. They are topped with perfectly melted Parmesan & coated with garlic butter. They aren’t drenched & left soggy but are perfectly seasoned leaving a light, buttery, slightly garlicy taste in your mouth. The downside is they only come in one size which is the same as a small pizza. They are baked in a roundish rectangle shape then sliced into pieces. No twists that are left dry. Just a delicious bunch of buttery sticks. Each pizza & order of breadsticks is made to order & nothing is ever frozen. Poppie’s offers salads which are good but nothing to write home about beyond their GIANT size. I ordered a small & as a vegan was skeptical it would suffice. I was happily surprised the small is HUGE! It is the size of a clear, square to go salad container. The toppings all come standard (no extra charge); red chopped onions, chopped pepperoncinis, black olives, & croutons. Breadsticks come with 2 ranch dressings & 1 marinara sauce. The salad comes with 2 dressings. The ambiance is not inviting and leads the experienced diner to want to turn around and walk the same door they came in. The grey, indoor/​outdoor carpet is severely stained (obviously many people have fond memories of coming to get the best pizza in town). The booths are made of blonde colored wood & seem small seating 2 people on each side. There are wrought iron table & chair sets diners can use as well as a couple wooden tables covered with checkered, vinyl tablecloths. There is a pretty hefty draft that wafts in the doors which leaves diners feeling cold during the winter. There is a self serve soda fountain for customers. The service is pretty good. Not as good as the best breadsticks, but pretty good. They deliver should you choose to forgo the ambiance. Poppie’s is located in north Redding, I live in East Redding on the Palo Cedro/​Redding city limit line & delivery was $ 4.50. I definitely recommend eating here if you like pizza. If you consider yourself a pizza connoisseur, GO THERE! For the kids, there are no video games or other unnecessary accommodations. People dine at Poppie’s for the food. NOTHING more. Give it a try.

Finally tried Poppies (pronounced Pop Ez lol) out on Lake Blvd. Good combination, fresh toppings and a good amount, however, the crust was a bit thin which also seem to make it a bit soggy… a bit of a disappointment after all I had heard… the best combination around in my book is still Good Times in Palo Cedro… although Old World Smoke house is on my to do list…

I am usually satisfied with their pizza, until a long hair was found cooked into the melted cheese. The most disturbing part is I hadn’t noticed it until the next day, when I attempted to eat it cold, and saw how deep the hair was in melted cheese. Otherwise, I’ve never had a issue before, but I would assume employees would wear something to protect hair from food.

I love this place — actually too much — I believe I’ve eaten a whole pizza per week for the last 2 mos. I usually order the same thing gourmet veggie on one half and either ham/​Pineapple or the big poppies? With light sauce, well done (not burnt)& pineapple covering the whole thing. In all the times I’ve ordered only once the pizza was in edible. I immediately called and was promised a free pizza of the same value at my next order. I’ve also frequently ordered the large dinner salad. That lasts me three meals for whatever the cost (?) $ 6. Something. The ingredients for everything I’ve ordered have always tasted fresh, and I think Iv’e ordered so many times all I need to give them is my name and although they ALWAYS ALWAYS SAY 45 min to an hour?? for a mere $ 2.00 delivery charge it’s usually here w/​I 20 min. Out of all the take out pizza parlours in Redding they are my fav. The only thing I didn’t like besides the burnt pizza was their spaghetti. Tasted old. I actually tore up their take out menu 2 weeks ago so I wud stop this Poppies insanity but conveniently found their menu on Google. Com! They are fun, kind, business owners /​they always have happy staff. One more thing — I have a friend who tried their Thai chicken pizza and said it was out of this world. I’m too old fashioned — it was enuff to get me to try a veggie pizza — but one (for me) always had to have sausage, pepperoni, black olives & pineapple. If u haven’t tried them do !! Much much better and more affordable than most others and ya can’t best the modest delivery charge !!

Love every pizza I have tried from poppies! Have not been disappointed yet! Love when I get coupons in the mail and have money to splurge! Love this place!

Got the bbq pulled pork pizza and wow it was good! I defiantly recommend coming here! Next time i will try the spaghetti and meatballs. I’ve heard they were amazing!

we ordered The Pesto Pizza tonite, which is pesto sauce, chicken, bacon and artichoke hearts, omg it is amazing :-) will definitely get this again :-)

Got the Hawaiian which tasted fresh and wasn’t overly greasy. The flavors blended together nicely. I will definitely be back.

This pizza can’t compete with ANY other local pizza. Its lacking in flavor, quality, and decency. The crust is hard and cardboard like, and incredibly thin, the sauce is nonexistent, and the toppings are barely even there. Westside pizza is similarly priced and is far better. They are only about a mile away and deliver in about a 30 mile radius. Avoid poppies pizza.

The food is always good at any round table but this establishment is so out of date! I went to change my infant daughter in the restroom and they have no changing table get with the times! Lol that is so crazy to me! Also, when they brought us ranch there was a hair on the table yucky! The food was good but not too hot on the spot lol

Ever since they moved to our neighborhood we have been ordering from them! Best Price, Great Taste and Friendly People! They will always have our business. Keep up the Good Work!

I’ve odered pizza from poppies about 8 times since they’ve opened as that are located pretty close to where I live. We sample a variety of there pies and they all have been really good. It was commented Fromm son that the loaded baked potato pizza is the best pizza he’s ever had. I would recommend there pizzas. I actually haven’t dined in just ordered to go. So my rating I bases on pizza to go and the friendly service I have received at the counter at the time of pick up. My favorite is the big poppie
