Please consider renaming your store to «Bogbean movies and music». The selection of books is absolutely dreadful. You can barely even find them as they are below all your movies. Also please clean your store. It’s gross. If I want some video games or movies I might come back. But I doubt it.

I stop by once a year when we’re in town to visit my in-laws. I’m a serious LP collector and always find a few gems. Their prices are fair, even on vintage jazz titles(which have become ridiculously expensive). The more collectible albums are well marked on the tops of the racks, and there are tons of classic rock LPs on the floor under the racks. If you’re willing to spend time going through the dollar bins, there are some great bargains to be had. Although I wish they could figure out a way to make them a little easier to look through — it’s dark under the racks, and the LPs are turned sideways — so it’s difficult to see them and very hard on the back. However, it’s worth the trouble to turn up a near mint Stevie Wonder«Songs in the Key of Life» for a buck. And they will very kindly provide a stool to sit on if you ask. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Great place and great staff! I always find at least one thing I want to take home! There’s a great movie section, especially for bluray. This is a used book/movie/music store so it’s not a guarantee that they will have what you want but it’s always fun to walk in, see what’s new, hear the eclectic music tastes of the staff and stumble around the place looking for treasures.

I was on tour coming through Redding(drumming for D.R.I.) and i happened to visit this store before i was to play at the venue next door. The staff was interested to know what i typically listened to and based off my interests the owner scoured the store and found three records he thought that i would like and played them on the record player. I was amazed that such diligence ad service was given to me as i have never experienced that anywhere else. their choices were right one and i found some music i would not have otherwise. On my own i looked through the records for some classic rock and soul music. i found my favorite record album of all time for only $ 3.00(Rush’s Album Farewell to Kings) and it plays well with little hissing. Great selection, service and character. i wish there was a record store in my hometown that lived up to this one. Cheers

The first thing you notice when you walk through the door is the smell which can only be described as a mixture of old books and poor housekeeping. Once you get past that you notice the odd decorations. They have nothing to do with what the store sells at all… They usually have a good selection of movies and video games but the books are usually out of date diets or medical things. Their selection of animé and manga is lacking significantly. I understand that they mostly buy their things from people who come in but there are other sources too… It’s rare if I go in there and if I do I always have someone with me. The staff tends to be uppity and hipster-ish… It’s rare that they will actually help you find anything.

Our region is late to everything, including the Digital age. This place is still a great place to find that cd or DVD you want. Its like browsing entertainment history. I dig it.

This place is very cool. It takes me back to the 90’s and being a teenager in San Diego when you and all your friends go check out the local record store for your favorite music and books. But now we have dvd’s to add to the fun of the search. If I am ever looking for a certain movie I will definately look here first.

I’ve been going to Bogbean for years to find obscure movies, classic books and hard to find music. I’ve always thought it was overpriced — but it beat ordering stuff on-line and having to wait for it to be shipped. Unfortunately, they have lost me as a customer. I cannot abide by poor customer service — and that’s exactly what I got. I saw a DVD set for 4.95 — when I got to the counter the young man rang it up at 16.95. When I questioned the price and pointed out what it was marked for — he stated that someone wrote the price poorly with a marker — but if I looked«close» I would see the real price. Even after I explained that a customer shouldn’t be expected to hold a price sticker up to the light and make a guess as to the price — that one should be able to simply accept what is marked — he would not honor the marked price. Unbelievable. Truly…

This place is stocked with lots of movies books and music! Prices are a little high for used stuff but bestsellers and classics are worth it!

Back in the day, I can’t tell you how many VHS movies I bought here. Every time I’d come back to Redding and visit, my brother and I would go to Bog Bean and hang out. I love the variety you get — you can still find random VHS tapes, a ton of DVD’s, oddball CD’s, and some really interesting books. Prices are great. I’ve never had an issue with quality — everything I’ve ever purchased has been in excellent working order. They have frequent buyer cards, where you purchase so much and then get somethin’ for free! I hope Bog Bean sticks around for a long time. It’s the cat’s pajamas.

Nothing worth going to more than once. Overpriced used CDs and DVDs that you can practically find for the same price or cheaper somewhere else. Filled with yuppie workers and old timers.

I’m giving this 4 stars simply because it exists in Redding — it’s the only place I know of right now with any significant amount of used CDs. And they tend to range in the $ 3 to $ 6 range, which makes them unique in a world that has decided that used CDs should cost the same as new WalMart CDs. That being said, the selection is a bit strange — maybe because this is Redding? For instance, they have a lot of Celene Dion and the full compliment of Aaron Carter and the Backstreet Boys, but no Dylan. Hmm. The«Blues» section was empty. It was sort of like thumbing through the Salvation Army collection without the overabundance of Christian CDs. But we did find a couple of zirconium-grade items(not quite up to true gem quality…)…but, then, I DID manage to walk out with 6 CDs for $ 27… Quite a bargain, really, and it allows me room to experiment with new music. They’ve got a decent looking used book collection and a HUGEVCR tape movie collection. They’re tucked into a strip of businesses inside of a fenced plaza, «Foundry Square». They have interesting nic-nacs everywhere inside, and the help is very friendly.

This is Redding’s little taste of Berkeley, Ca. If you’re a collector and want to thumb through a nice selection of used CD’s, come check it out. Staff’s pretty nice and the atmosphere’s unique.

Given that they are getting their books & music from people who live in Redding, this used book & music store has a surprisingly good selection. The shopkeepers play good music and it smells like used book & incense.
