Wow! Best kept secret in Redding!
Brought the wife here only because we received a $ 50 gift certificate. Of course we weren’t expecting much as we hadn’t heard of the place via the grapevine, newspaper, et cetera. Boy were we blown away!
It’s a small, locals only kinda’ place but far from the ‘dive bar’ feel we were expecting. This place has class with a capital ‘C’ to go along with their 3 big screens and the kitchen which is located at the end of the bar for your viewing and olfactory pleasure.
The menu changes constantly based on what’s locally fresh and in season. We chose the filet w/​mashed potatoes and the wild caught salmon w/​risotto, both of which came w/​a mixed greens salad. Both were amazing! The peanut butter pie (made by the owner’s mother!) was the coup de gras!
Our bartender/​server was prompt, courteous and clearly knew how to wait on guests, which I’ve come to painfully recognize are wait staff qualities that are in very short supply here in Redding!
Bottom line: go have dinner here before the word gets out and there’s a 2 hour wait every night! 5 STARS!
UPDATE NOV 2013: I just found out that Mike the chef is no longer here and therefore the menu has been ‘simplified’ to your standard small bar type grub. Rats! Now just 3 STARS :(

Wow! Is the food at this place fantastic!
We were staying at the Travelodge next door. Found it on Unilocal but only 2 reviews, both good but not sure about trying it. We walked by poked our head in the door, and decided to go else where, so we could to take it back to the room. What a mistake we would have 2 nights in a row here if we hadn’t walked out.
The place looks just like any tavern from the out side, nice on the inside but still very unassuming. The first I noticed everything is right there, the bar the kitchen and sitting area, we watched the chef cook our meals. I order the green chili meat loaf, with garlic mash potatoes and salad with blue cheese vinaigrette. My wife ordered the BB burger and fries. Then we split a Belgium cream fruit tart, one fabulous desert!!! Wow I can’t say enough, this by far one of the best meals we had on our five week vacation, I just love finding these little gems. The only sad thing is I have now idea when we might be back to Redding, but when we do this will be a must visit.

Very nice bar, great flat panels & a real chef! Exposed brick, great service and drink selection. I will definitely return next time I’m in Redding.

Looking for someplace new and different the Stalker Club of Redding (S.C.O.R.) made a visit to a bar that has been around for a while but known under different names. Currently known a B-T’s By Way and By the Way the club made a afternoon visit and was pleasantly surprised. The bar was clean and of good size with pricing to be great for our beer budget. What made the place was the bartender Kayla. What a kick in the pants she was. Great personality with a smile you will never forget. The club puts a lot into a review and we believe the bartender makes or breaks a place. Kayla makes this bar a fun place to go. Bar owners out there if you are looking for a new bartender we would snatch her up quickly because she is a pick of the litter and will make your bar shine. She brings that much enthusiasm to the bar. On occasion the Stalker Club of Redding (S.C.O.R.) invites a guest Stalker to come with us on one of our outings. We have invited Kayla to join us next week which she has excepted. It will be fun. Because of Kayla we have given this bar a 5 out of a six pack.
