It’s definitely not Ululani but it’s the best shave ice in redding. Their Hawaiian snacks are a cool novelty too. Unfortunately I do not know how large of a demographic there is for pupu in northern Cali. Over all a neat little place if you want a little Hawaii in land locked redding.

Really enjoyed this little slice of Aloha. The shave ice is really well done. Refreshing for a hot Redding summer day and the flavors are better than a couple of the well known shops on Oahu. While we sat enjoying our shave ice with our son, the owner brought us a special treat: Spam Musubi. Overall, it made our family miss Hawaii. Perfect. Mohalo Aloha Ice.

The pulled pork is wonderful! The spicy veggie sauce compliments the meat, which is not smothered in bbq sauce like you might expect from pulled pork sandwiches. I’m coming back to try the Spam Musubi! Spam!!! How cool! They have lots of flavors for the Hawaiian Shave Ice. And they have blended mulk tea with Boba which can be flavored with the standard blueberry or chocolate, or tropical favorites such as jack fruit, durian and taro. This is an unassuming little place in the entry to the Redding Library. You gotta try it!

Amazingly friendly staff! Joked with my girlfriend that I don’t know how I would ever be able to stay awake and upbeat like the employee there. I enjoyed the shaved ice and will probably stop in next time I’m at the farmers market. The only negative is the redding homeless and characters you have to deal with cause its in the public library.

Had to order tickets for the Maroon 5 concert today at the library. Afterwards we decided we were hungry. Just past the library entrance to the left is Redding’s hidden little known paradise, Aloha Ice. Their shave ice is traditional, made island fine from block ice, not crushed. The flavor selection is good, though I wish they had POG and a few more tropical fruit flavors. The topping selection is even more diverse. We tried the chicken banh mi sandwich. Get one, you won’t be disappointed! Included are jalapenos for a kick, marinated cucumbers, cilantro, tender chicken marinated in a special island sauce, mayo, scirracha. Your taste buds will think you took a Kauai vacation. This is the real deal. Give them a try. I’m sure with Redding’s hot summers, the shave ice will be a big hit.

Great authentic shaved ice with tasty flavors(try the snow cap) and a really interesting mix of foods. The owner was really nice and had great hospitality. I had a banh mi sandwich and a shaved ice and they were both excellent.

Their chamango, spam musubi and rice meal were pretty good. Would buy again. Their vietnamese sandwhiches were okay. I’m not sure i would buy that again considering they are about $ 5 something a pop and pretty small compared to others banh mi’s out there. I’ve had the shaved ice on two seperate occasions and i was pretty disappointed. The boy behind the counter poured too much syrup flavoring over the ice. So i ended up with three bites of ice and a bowl of syrup :-( Service was nice and friendly so i will definitely be trying them out again.

The shaved ice is great it earns a five star! Perfect treat for a hot summer day in Redding! The location is in the Redding Library, there is no sign out front so it was hard to find and they close early so that was inconvenient. But the location and the hours get a two star. Make sure you call ahead Unilocal said they were open we drove all the way down there got all the kids out if the car and there closed!

YUM! My boyfriend & I went here today & both got a bahn mi sandwich — he got the pork & I got the chicken. Both were DELISH! Fresh veggies, nice portion of marinated meat, toasty bun, great sauce… sooo good! We couldn’t decide which we liked better! We also shared a shaved ice — got passion fruit & melon flavors with fruit jellies on top. The ice was fluffy & snowy with no big ice chunks(a big deal if you’re really into shaved ice!) & the flavors were delicious. Will DEFINITELY be coming back to this place & I highly recommend it. They also have regular sandwiches(like chicken ranch) & they have Boba!!! I’m excited to try that next time!

This place has the best sandwich I have tasted in awhile! I ordered the Banh Mi sandwich — even my kids loved all the sweet chicken and veggies packed in it! The kids loved the shaved ice as well — they made it rainbow for my girls and they were so excited to eat it! The owners are so nice and accommodating to your kids — great place to go before you head into the library!

Love everything about this place! We live 20 minutes outside of town but decided to check it out one weekend and have been back almost every weekend since! The Hawaiian shaved ice is great and they have an terrific assortment of flavors but their Bahn Mi sandwich really takes the cake! It is a combination of wonderful flavors that come together to create simply the most amazing sandwich I’ve ever had!!! We have even brought friends and family with us to enjoy this new hot-spot and every one of them is now a regular. Best new place Redding has seen in a LONG time! We are now loyal fans/customers!

Boy am I glad my friend was too hungry to wait and convinced me to give this place a try. Tucked into the side of the library, it is easy to miss. The previous café in this space only served pricey pre-packaged sandwiches, salads and drinks so I was not too enthusiastic about eating an overpriced sandwich I could get at Safeway for less. As we walked up, we were greeted by the staff and it was obvious this was not the same place as before. We each got a banh mi sandwich which comes with this greenish sauce and cucumbers as well as a blended fruit drink with boba. The banh mi was a roast pork special with fresh veggies — pickled carrots and daikon, cucumbers, cilantro, jalapenos, & mayo… and was delicious! It really hit the spot and while the ingredients sound a little weird for Redding… they really work well together. That greenish sauce just put it over the top… a must, must try. The side of sweet cucumbers… don’t get it… all the more for me ;)…I could probably eat those by the handful… after handful! ^__* I had the strawberry boba drink and my friend who is more adventurous tried the tamarind boba drink. Both were really good and did not leave a chalky/powdery after taste like some of the other drink places around town. Have already been back with some other friends who said the shave ice reminded them of their trip to Hawaii. Would recommend for thosing needing a break from their studies or anyone who just wants delicious food. Make sure you get the banh mi so that you get that green sauce and the sweet cucumbers… the staff said both were made in house. For only being open about a month now, service was actually very friendly and fast.

Having grown up in Hawaii and tried all the best known shave ice places like Matsumoto’s, Waiola, Ice Garden, Ailana’s, etc., I was not expecting much from a tiny little place in the middle of Redding, CA of all places. To my great surprise, their shave ice was just like being home again. Fluffy with flavor in every bite, it was a delicious treat to cool down with and they even had condensed milk as a topping! I also tried their Hawaiian chicken banh mi served with a side of their house pickles and house sauce after I heard the woman next to me say«this is da bomb» about her sandwich. I have to say she was not exaggerating… full of flavor, everything tasted fresh and the house pickles and sauce are so good, I was mopping up every last drop! Now I know where to go for a taste of home.
