Red Hook Community Farm

Community based farm that offers a lot of community base activities and volunteer work. It is located right across from IKEA and aside from B61 there is also a shuttle bus to Downtown Brooklyn. I found that Red Hood Community Farm from New York Cares, I was amazed by their Compost Project that works with the Community’s reusable waste. This is a process that requires «Men power,» so for someone who doesn’t exercise, it was tiring. There are other fun volunteers work available. The last time i was there they had a Pumpkin smash event for children to break down their pumpkin add on to the Compost.
They also have a large garden for children to learn about the environment and for them to see how vegetables and fruits are actually grown. They also have a farmers market open Saturdays which they sell vegetables freshly grown from Red Hook Community Farm.
