After my review, that you can view below, this is the message I received from Stephanie W. Hi Lizette, Stephanie W. sent you a message on Unilocal: Subject: RE: your review «Ms. Liebold, I am the publicist for the Hearthstone Motel and after receiving this message, I went ahead and spoke to the owner, the same man you met the other night. To clear up the first bit of communication, let me state that while I do manage the motel’s business accounts, I wrote my review months after I was hired by them. The owner and I spoke, after my delightful stay at the motel, got along great and realized that we could one day formulate a partnership. Since then, we have and my review is accurate and unbiased. I will be submitting this to Unilocal so they may remove your account. Now, after speaking to the owner, watching his video footage of you, and listening to your voicemails, my office has concluded that we will be entering this message into his criminal complaint and subsequent lawsuit against you. While his lawyer prepares a case against you with the San Diego PD, I’m sure the Bethlehem SD and your fellow Red Hook HS classmates will be asked to be character witnesses for you. Being that your message was incredibly unprofessional, I can only guess what their portrayal of you will be like! You arrived late, broke your contract with the motel, became a public nuisance, threatened the owner, and then trespassed on private property after you were asked to leave. You were told that since you broke the contract your room had been rented and you were not able to stay at the motel because they no longer had a room available. Even when presented with the evidence of NOVACANCY(the«closed» sign on the motel door along with the«no vacancy» sign on the door), you continued to berate the owner and insist that he had vacancy. They do have this interaction on video, with a close up of the two signs. Finally, when you did leave, you called the motel 3x with 3 different stories as to why you weren’t staying there. First, you had already cancelled your reservation a week ago, then you were«scared and terrified» to stay at the motel and finally, you weren’t staying there because they didn’t have vacancy even though the BROKEN sign said they did. I don’t think that will come up as very rational during the criminal investigation and a voluntary psych evaluation is certainly in order — you should ask to take one, it might help you in your day-to-day life! Don’t forget, they have your enraged messages saved along with their video evidence. We don’t suggest that you continue to give the motel negative reviews as it will only further their case against you. Also, if you do, our lawyer has advised that we are legally entitled to post the videos of you, with your full name, on the internet, as New York State is a one party consent state and we are allowed to record and publicly display this media online. Slander and harassment are serious charges and I’m sure will cause Christie and Carl some embarrassment. Keep in mind that, similar to your online research/stalking, your loved ones personal information, including addresses, are also easily researched online.

This hotel is very clean and charming. It certainly has retro style, but in a charming way. If you’re looking for a quiet night in a clean hotel, look no further. The bathroom here is cleaner than most hotels in this price range and you can’t beat the mountain views. Beautiful wood ceilings too! Plus the owner is very nice and let us bring our poodle along. I highly recommend it here!

BEWAREOFTHISHOTEL’S RESERVATIONPOLICY!!! THEYWILLCHARGEYOURCREDITCARDIFYOUTRYTOCANCEL! We made a reservation here five days before our arrival date, and were not informed of any cancellation policy over the phone. We reserved the room with a credit card. The next day, we received an email stating that we they have a one week cancellation policy and that we were within it, and that our reservation could not be changed or cancelled.(Obviously, we made the reservation within that one week period and they didn’t tell us about this policy before taking our credit card number to hold the room!) They also included a long list of bizarre policies including these: You are within the cancellation policy and therefore your reservation cannot be cancelled and/or modified. We will charge your credit card for the full stay regardless. If you cannot arrive before 6pm you must inform the office when you make your reservation or as soon you realize that you will be late. If you are arriving after 6pm you MUST submit a late check-in form which we will either email or fax to you. You can return the form to us via email, fax, or standard mail(USPS) but we must receive it before 6pm on the date of your arrival. For example, this means that you cannot call us at 8pm on the date of your arrival to tell us that you will be arriving at 11pm. If we do not receive your form, you cannot check in after 6pm. It is your responsibility to ensure that we received your form. We will reply to all emailed forms but faxed forms require you to call the office. If you do not hear from us within 24 hours after sending your form, again, you must call us. If you did not submit a late check-in form and do not arrive before 6pm, we reserve the right to rent your room to another customer and/or charge your credit card the full amount for your stay including any applicable taxes. This means that we cannot guarantee you a room after 6pm if you haven’t made other arrangements such as submitting the late check-in form. To top all of this off, THEYWANTEDUSTOFAXTHEM A PHOTOCOPYOFOURCREDITCARDAND A GOVERNMENTISSUED I.D. What!!! We have traveled throughout this entire U.S. and in several countries abroad and have never encountered anything like this. We immediately decided this was not the kind of place we wanted to stay, but when we called to cancel, the person we spoke with said, «You said you received an email stating our cancellation policy. I will be charging your credit card,» and then hung up on us. Unbelievable. We’ve spoken with our credit card company who said this is all illegal and disputable, so there’s that at least, but we wanted to warn anyone considering staying here. Our next step after posting this is to contact the Better Business Bureau. Beware of this place and their shady practices!

We love it here. Our third visit to attend Bard College graduation. We will return even after our daughter has graduated. If you want the Holiday Inn go to Kingston. If you want clean safe comfy lodging in the 55 mph tradition of the Taconic Parkway then go to the Hearthstone Motel. It’s surrounded by nature, on a rise overlooking an aple orchard and all rooms face west for spectacular sunsets. It’s a privilege to be here.
