This is specifically for the yoga hike in the Gateway National Recreational Area(Sandy Hook) in NJ. Myself and two friends purchased tickets off of Amazon Local for the hike and picked this location because it’s close and is a lovely area. The voucher told us to contact NMG to confirm what yoga hike we wanted and to pick a date it was available, which we did. NMG gave us a list of what to bring, told us what to expect, coordinates for where to meet to start the hike, and other useful info like numbers to contact in case we had questions or if we had issues while on the hike. Great, so we should be fine. Wrong. When we got to the park entrance, we knew we could park at the Fort for free(it is $ 15 a car to park otherwise, just a heads up!) and we followed the coordinates. The first problem was that no one was at the hiking coordinates before or at the time we were told to be there… Odd, but maybe we were at the wrong spot. Another in our group copied & pasted the coordinates into their GPS and got the same spot we were currently in. We decided to call the numbers given to us to see if we could find who was leading the hike and see if they changes the meeting location. The first number was for someone named Joey that we were told to call if lost. We called Joey a few times and left a voicemail, but every time we called it was clear that his phone was off and likely to stay off. No worries, we had another phone number to call: the north NMG office! Four calls later, we were met with only rings and a full voicemail box so we couldn’t leave a message. By this point, it was fifteen minutes after the meeting time at the coordinates we were given. Still no people. We looked on the website, found a different set of coordinates for the same hike that we booked, went to that spot and still found no one. After a few more calls to both numbers, we gave up and went on our own hike after calling Amazon Local for a refund. No one from the office has called us back or offered any kind of an explanation. Definitely a bummer since we heard good things, but the organization for this hike could be better.
