Screpesi’s makes a great sandwich, no question. In addition to the Ham or Italian hoagies that everyone mentions in their review, the tuna salad hoagies are really good too. Keep in mind that they really are take-out only, they don’t have a table and chairs for you to sit at.

Been eating here for 40 years. Don’t get any better. Small and prestigious little sandwich shop in business for over 65 years. Everything is EXCELLENT.

Best Sandwiches in Reading Hands Down! I am in love with the Ham sandwich as well as their Fresh Tuna Sandwiches. Relocating from New York City, I didn’t know what to expect but let me tell you this is my favorite place to go to during lunch at work. They have this amazing butter spread accompanied by mayo … On a good note their sandwiches are packed to perfection! They are not greedy at all. I really wished they had delivery but its understandable because its a «mom & pop» shop. Their profits are NOT for a 3rd vacation home but rather to support their children. Great people and amazing Customer Service… Forget about going to Philadelphia ! These Sandwiches/Hoagies are made with love, not for a CEO of a franchise to become rich.

Stopped here for a sandwich as we passed through. Could not decide who had the best, between the Italian, Turkey, or Ham. All were well proportioned, made with quality ingredients, and delicious. Next time we come through the area, we will definitely be stopping again. Also appreciated the support of other local businesses with the chip and drink selections.

This is the best Reading hoagies. They are NOT Philly hoagies. Same as cheesesteaks, if you don’t understand there is a difference between what you get in Philly versus Reading, I can’t help you. If you want Philly style, get on 422 and head east. These are READING sandwiches, and they are damn good.

This place is a joke. To call what they serve hoagies is an insult to a real Italian Hoagie you’d get in Philly. Where’s the spicy capicola? Where’s the sharp provolone? Where’s the roasted Italian peppers? Where’s the crusty seeded Italian roll? Berks County wouldn’t know an authentic Italian hoagie if it slapped them in the face. So lame.

The Italian is the closest I can find to a «Chubby’s» sandwich. Anyone that remembers«Chubby’s sandwich shop» as being the best sandwich shop in Reading, and in my opinion all the world. They are extremely good.

My father grew up with the original owner of this place. I believe his name was Pat. They were very good friends. I grew up in Memphis, Tn but anytime we are back in Reading we have to go get an Italian sandwich from this place. By far the best sub I have ever had. I have many happy memories of this place as a child. If it’s any testament to the food here I will share a story. I went to this restaurant when I was about 12. Years later I returned to visit family without my father. I was probably about 18. I found this place by memory without any help. That’s a powerful hoagie if you ask me.

Awsome subs! Well worth the extra cash. Only down side is — they could stand to wear gloves or wash after handling money. Still, the subs truly rock.

Sandwich is decent. The reviews below are clearly the owner because the sandwich is average. Best hoagie is Shillington Farmers Market Richard Stricklers stand. Chapmans makes a better hoagie than them too.

Other reviews are correct… Screpesi’s has the best sandwiches in town. My family has been eating their food for 3 generations. The quality control is excellent, never had a bad meal here.

This place ROCKS!!! Absolute gem!!! Classic Italian subs and salads are PERFECT, and this is spoken by a Jersey boy, where Italian subs are made like nowhere else. Well, until Screpesi’s! Seriously, this place should be on a TV show. No exaggeration. Loads of crisp fresh lettuce, juicy white onions, red ripe tomatoes, all FINELY sliced, and deli meats that are perfect. But don’t forget the hot pepper spread. This perfects it! Wait, you won’t forget anything because the ladies here are so good at what they do they ask you! This will definitely be a regular stop when I’m in Reading. Hours: M-W 10 – 9 Th-Sat 10 – 10 Sun 10 – 5
