Lauraina Levwood Birth & Bodywork

My greatest acknowledgment of Lauraina is how she listens to your requests and fully honors them. As a trauma survivor, I’ve been slowly searching out the right fit for me in a somatic bodyworker. My Unilocal search of «doula masseuse» brought me to Lauraina (among others) and what resonated in her website of care, understanding, and gentleness encouraged me to set up my first appointment, which I hope will be the first of a long-​term commitment. We were both flexible in terms of, let’s try a little bit of everything and if something feels great, continue, if not, pass. Lauraina knows how to hold space for your emotions, to dig deep (literally) into your body and also release tension, pain, and carried anxiety: a perfect firm and nurture in her ways of being and massage among other options of spiritual practices that she also offers.
I am appreciative of Lauraina’s care for accessibility, how she has discounts for students, disabled, unemployed folks as my work is also in accessibility and it truly is a community commitment. Mostly, I am grateful that Lauraina has shown me that survivors of trauma can heal, can have their bodies touched in pleasurable and safe ways, and that there is space to take as much time or as little time, to relax into the moment and her knowing hands.
She truly is a gifted healer. I’m looking forward to our next appointment and can’t wait to gift her to friends as well. She is not to be missed.
And! She saw my intestinal challenges by looking at my feet. Magic!

Lauraina is not only an amazing doula (see previous post) but also an amazingly talented bodyworker. I’ve been seeing her for myofascial release due to a car wreck injury. And I cannot recommend her services enough. Not only is my back feeling better, but the trauma from that injury is actually healing. Thank you Lauraina!

I am one of the pregnant friends Jennifer F recommended Lauraina to… and I wholeheartedly agree with Jennifer F’s review! I am so glad Jenn did great research and found Lauraina! Not only is she super sweet and affable, she is amazing in her role as a doula. Her presence is so calming. Before the birth of my third baby, Lauraina worked with me through the Birthing From Within Mentorship. She helped me process my fears of natural childbirth, and helped me cultivate a positive attitude and energy toward natural and med-​free childbearing. With her help, I had a natural and med-​free delivery. My husband and I are so happy we hired her. I’ll never forget my natural birthing experience and I’m so glad Lauraina will always be a part of those memories.

Lauraina was my birth doula and my postpartum doula. She came to my house to give me a massage every other week for the last two months of my pregnancy, which greatly contributed to my comfort. The postpartum massages were amazingly helpful in adjusting to the body stresses of being a new mama. She does a great job of checking in and working with what’s going on in the mind and body. As a birth doula, her presence at the birth was exactly what I and my husband needed — grounding, loving and supportive. As a postpartum doula, she did what needed to be done and modeled loving, respectful interaction with my baby, from which I learned a lot. You would be lucky to work with Lauraina.

I found Lauraina by going down a list of profiles on the Birthways website, and am so thankful that she was available to work with me! She visited for an initial interview, and I knew I had hit the jackpot so to speak. She met all the criteria I had set going into my search, and most importantly, I felt really comfortable with her. It was important to me that my doula also be proficient in pregnancy massage, and this is a specialty of hers. Getting massage from her since 1^st trimester was a really special way of developing our relationship before the big day arrived, not to mention the wonders it did for me physically. Another non-​negotiable was confidence — I knew I wanted a doula with a naturally calming presence, and Lauraina definitely has that. She is also kind, easy going, and perceptive — all very important traits around a woman in labor! She worked with my husband and mom to support me in such a fluid way… I honestly felt like she was part of the family! I recommend her to all my pregnant friends because she was indispensible to us and I know without a doubt they will be in good hands. I just hope she’s available for my next baby :)

I’ve known Lauraina for some years now — but am not letting that color my review. The fact is, she creates a very healing space (and sees her clients in a really beautiful environment, in fact), and helps you really release the old stuff and get the new you going.
On top of that, she’s just lovely, and really caring. You won’t go wrong with Lauraina!

Lauraina has been my massage therapist for several years. She is far and away the best massage therapist I have ever seen.
Despite seeing me regularly for years, Lauraina never gives a «business as usual» vibe. She listens to what’s going on with my body and my life, and then structures that day’s massage to meet my needs. I can feel that she is fully present during the massage, not letting her mind wander.
Lauraina has also worked with me over time to improve «problem» areas of my body, recommending stretches and treatments I can do for myself to keep me limber and comfortable. I can feel the difference this has made for me over time. Areas that used to hurt no longer do.
Lauraina has a wonderful understanding of the connections between body, mind, and spirit, and this shows in everything she does. I can’t recommend her highly enough. (And her prices are also VERY reasonable.)
