Wouldn’t recommend. Took two dresses here to be hemmed have sleeves cut. The price was $ 12 for hem and $ 8 for sleeves. She charged me for 3 hems because she had to hem the lining too.
When I dropped them off, nobody greeted me when I walked in. After a minute or two one of the women asked if I was going to try on the dresses. The «changing room» is a room divider that doesn’t close fully, and faces the open window to 422. Not very private. I have no idea who Jenny is, all the women there were older and had very thick accents. Nobody introduced themselves, thanked me for my business, gave any type of care that I even walked in.
I asked for the dresses to be hemmed a certain way, with elastic thread, because I’m pregnant and knew i needed room to grow. When I went back to pick up my dresses two weeks later, they did not heed any of my requests. They used regular thread, they hemmed from the bottom instead of bringing the garment up to give me more room, and they put a decorative ruffle on the bottom of one dress that wasn’t asked for. I was so angry. However, the women were so cold, and I could hardly understand any of them that frankly I was a little intimidated. So I paid my $ 40+ and left.
Lesson learned. I have a sewing machine, need to learn how to sew with elastic thread. I will never go back here, and would not recommend.

It’s a throwaway culture. But instead of throwing or consigning away clothes that no longer fit or that I don’t like as much anymore, I decided to get them altered, if possible. That changed some very ho hum items into clothing that once again was in the regular rotation. Mostly this involved lengthening pants and skirts.
Many of my friends use Jenny’s for simple alterations like this, and I don’t think I have ever paid more than $ 10. Yes, I could take all those $ 10 charges and buy my own sewing machine and do it myself, and maybe I will. But Jenny is great for fast and reliable service until then.
