You won’t find many places like the Café Waldorf anywhere. Beautiful old Victorian bar with a wide selection of spirits and an excellent menu. Plus they offer lighted off street parking. The next time you go out, you absolutely must stop by for a cocktail and dinner. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Holy mackeral! This place is freakin’ amazing. I NEVER expected to stumble into a bar like this in Reading. The Waldorf seems like it should be on a swanky street in NYC. Seriously, fancy inside. Old woodwork/glass/mirros, like it’s 1920. Had a couple solid cocktails, didn’t have any food as this was an after dinner stop. But I suspect the food is solid.

I live in Bethlehem pa… there are many great steak restaurants in Bethlehem. However; this pub and martini superior to any steak restaurants in Bethlehem. I stopped tonight. I had a new York strip, and potatoes, fresh green beans. Had a couple beers and my bill was justunder $ 30.00…I have ate a the cork, prime steak in bethlehem. …and u could triple ur bill for the same quality and excellent quality. Also they had a nice small jazz band… great ambience. . …also service is excellent… this is like a hidden treasure of a pub/restaurant. Thx for the experience. Jamie

My husband and I have been enjoying coming to Café Waldorf for several years. Never knew it existed until a cigar shop owner in West Reading told us about this little gem. The fact that it was one of the last remaining places you could smoke a cigar or cigarette in Berks County is truthfully what peaked our interest and brought us here, but we were happily surprised that it offered so much more(note: Café Waldorf became smoke-free about a year ago). This restaurant/bar has been in Reading for over 30 years, and once you visit you’ll understand why. Not only does it have reasonably priced AND well made drinks, but the food is worthy of being on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives(the pork chop is crazy good). Wonderful antipasta with the best balsamic dressing I’ve ever had. I love the old school décor; rich wood paneling and an antique bar downstairs, while upstairs has a definite flapper-era, speak-easy feel to it. It draws a crowd of all ages, which is nice to see and we love the live music! Lastly, we can’t say enough about the staff; welcoming, courteous, professional. They understand what service is all about.

Known for having the best martini bar in town; you will want to ignore the first floor and head right up the stairs to the quirky, small lounge on the second floor which used to have a cigar shop back in the day. You could smoke your cigars in this little hideaway which gave the the place a decidedly men’s club feel to it with the leather furniture, low lighting and let’s just say, «eclectic» art on the walls. The bar is actually situated in the center between two larger rooms with service on both sides and is only about 6-feet in length which must be claustrophobic for the bartender. I’ve only been here during the late evening hours to see a friend’s band perform so I don’t know much about the regulars or the menu. As for the location, it’s not in a terrible neighborhood but it’s not in a great neighborhood either, but they have a small parking lot across the street which is unusual for city bars.

Drinks were good, very attentive staff, however our waitress was a lot on the hyper side. Had she toned it down a little, she would have been a great waitress. the mashed potatoes were the best I have ever had, and the chicken picata, i think that’s what it was called, definitely a garlic lovers meal. the atmosphere is really nice also, and clean bathrooms! It was pretty empty for a Friday night so i don’t know what that says, i think they just need to update things a little, but it could also be that the location isn’t exactly the greatest, and i don’t see many people driving from the suburbs, which is kinda the crowd vibe i get, just to come out here.
