Amazing! Brisket and beans was perfect. Will be back. Very soon! Next time in Missouri were there for three squares.

I wound up at Deke’s because I was going to an event at Arrowhead and Deke’s was close by. He was very nice and there were other people in the tiny waiting/eating area. I ordered a slab of pork ribs to go. It took about 20 minutes to get the order. So far so good. After the event we got out the ribs. YECH! They were of kinda mushy and didn’t taste like BBQ at all. No burn marks, just greyish ribs. I think they had been boiled — at least that’s what they certainly looked and tasted like. Maybe the other meats are okay(since the people in the eating area were chowing down). But I will never go back.

Was in town on business looking for dinner at a locally owned BBQ place. DEKES has it. The big name places are great but Deke’s has some of the best of the best meats. Had the combo platter with Brisket, hot link, ribs and Turkey. Everything was fresh smoked and tasted excellent. I enjoy eating at local places the place does BBQ right.

My husband and I decided to stop for«to go» after work on a whim. He’s never a hard sell for BBQ. He had the burnt ends(his standard) and I tried the lamb sandwich which came with fries and beans. We had already decided to split our sandwiches. The lamb was nice. The burnt ends were… OK I will be honest. Not bad at all but nothing special. The beans were amazing. Like.10 stars. I’m super picky about BBQ sauce and really do not like some of the«kc rock stars» sauces. But this sauce is something else! Sooooo good. It wasn’t quick. The guy at the counter took our order and then went into another room and made our food. I took away the 4th star because I never heard any water running. So… maybe the hand wash part got skipped…

Had the 2 meat combo brisket and pulled pork sandwich with bbq beans. It was on point! Oh and the bbq beans were so tasty! It gets my KC stamp of approval.

A true hole in the wall place. I went in and ordered two burnt ends. The side was an order of fries. I wasn’t crazy about the fries. Neither my wife nor I liked them and we didn’t finish them. My burnt ends were served on a bun and were more of a pulled pork sandwich. I was a bit bummed on the ride home because I figured the bun was going to be soggy on the way home. Now here’s the thing. Here I am with bad fries and a soggy bun. I’m not really expecting much at this point when I take my first bite… and it was really really good BBQ! I mean first rate. Especially for the price. If you are looking for some good take home BBQ and don’t want to spend a ton of dough this would be a good choice. It truly has it where it counts and that’s in the meat. Since my initial review I’ve returned to Deke’s twice more and discovered that the BBQ sausage is as great as the burnt ends.

OK, now understand I have never been to the actually restaurant. I only have had this food catered at an event. Where do I begin… I am a self-proclaimed BBQ connoisseur and at the same time I always shied away from spare ribs(don’t like the cartilage). Mr. Williams created the most succulent and flavorful spare ribs ever — then I tried the deep-fried turkey, and the fried chicken. WOW, this guy has it going on!!! So the best I can tell you is if the rest of the menu is as good as these three items that were catered, this place is one of the hidden gems. Buon appetito.

I drive by this place everyday. One day I was feeling I needed some BBQ and just pulled in to give it a shot. Deke’s is the kind of place most people just drive right by and not give a second thought too. I am not scared to walk into just about any joint or try anything once. I walked into Deke’s and I’m assuming it was the owner/cook came out from the back and took my order. A large fan was running and Sister, Sister was playing on a TV from the 80’s. The owner was saying something from the back but I wasn’t sure if he was talking to me or another person in the back I didn’t see. I couldn’t hear him over the TV so I gave him an understanding nod and smile when he came back out with my food. I got the beef sandwich and thought I got a side of rib tips. The rib tips turned out to be an entire meal by itself. I hated myself for not just getting a full slab of ribs after eating one rib tip. It was that good

I shamefully admit that I live close to this place and have been here only one time(because, until recently, of my financial situation). So this won’t be a full blown review, but something short and tangy. I give it 5 stars because I like to support the locals who are really trying to make it in this world by working hard and doing it on their own terms. This place gives true meaning to the phrase«hole in the wall». It’s a tiny brick/cement building that might be able to hold 4 people if they decide to stay and eat. I’m not making fun of it; i think it’s really cool. Honestly I think they should expand the building but keep the décor… or lack thereof. For now the place is set up to handle mainly«togo» orders. I tried the brisket with a side of coleslaw. Honestly, it’s the best brisket I’ve ever had. It was cook and sliced to perfection. It was tender, yet no fat. To me, the sauce was very good. Not too sweet, not too tangy. The coleslaw was good; however I wished they would have dished out a larger serving of it. A grilled bun would have made the sandwich perfect. I hope someone from Deke’s reads this review because I want to see you guys succeed. Here is some constructive criticism: Your prices are no lower and your servings are no larger than the big boys in town. You don’t have the overhead that the other places do. You have good food. If you give us more of it for a little bit less we’ll come back with our friends.

I was craving a burnt ends sandwich with pickles and stopped at Deke’s BBQ. If you drive too fast on Raytown Road, you can miss Deke’s BBQ that looks like a little white house on the corner of 52nd Street and Raytown Road. Signs promoting the $ 4.99 sandwich are nailed to the front along with a hand-painted sign listing seasonal specials. The only clue is the big smoker and Deke’s BBQ van. Deke’s BBQ is all about the BBQ and not the atmosphere. My burnt ends sandwich heaping with meat and an abundance of with fries cost a mere $ 8.96. Aaah Deke’s BBQ fulfilled the burnt ends mojo. Deke’s BBQ is the perfect place to grab a lunch on the way to a game at the Arrowhead stadium. Sandwiches are $ 6 and under and smoked meat combos are $ 9 a lb. Grab a side of potato salad, baked beans, fries, cole slaw or red beans /rice for $ 2. Deke’s BBQ also offers catering for $ 8 per person which includes 2 meats, 2 sides, bread and drinks. Meat trays are $ 35 and up. Deke’s BBQ also has Louisianna Gumbo for $ 14 a quart or $ 50 a gallon. Whether’s BBQ, gumbo or smoked meats, Deke’s BBQ can hook you up.
