We live nearby, but originally from the pacific northwest. I never loved applebees when I lived up there, but would eat there and thought of it as adequate. The applebees in KC area are MUCH worse quality, and of those, Raytown applebees has the honor of being the worst of the worst. The food is routinely cold or misassembled or dissolved or drenched in dressing. The place smells like smoke and the service is usually shoddy… When I learned that applebees’ corporate HQ is a few miles away on ward pkwy, I was kind of shocked. You would think the execs would keep tabs on local quality at least. I guess they dont care about applebees either. Avoid this place if possible, its just disappointing at best, of dubious food safety at worst.

Husband and I stopped here for lunch had the Whiskey Chicken and Steak with Shrimp. Both were very tasty and our waiter Joshua did a great job. Kept our tea and water filled. We would come back.

the worst of all the area Applebee’s. The service is slow and the food was not hot

Two stars is generous, but it gets points for being the only place open late that ISN’T the shitty Raytown ihop. Every time I visit, it’s a twenty minute wait for water, frequent confusion on orders, limited service, mediocre food. Great place if you just want to sit around for an hour and a half with few interruptions. Actually, I think I might prefer the shitty Raytown ihop.

Waited over 5 minutes for someone to come to the hostess station to seat us. I had to step into the restaurant to get someone’s attention. I ordered the riblets which I’ve always liked but the quality is not as good. These riblets had a lot of fat and in the past they didn’t have any fat.

I think this is the worst of all the area Applebee’s. The service is slow and the food is almost always sub-par. It’s bot just the menu, it’s the prep. Salads are drenched in dressing. Appetizers came to table cold. This is now my last resort restaurant. Not sure what happened to this restaurant. Maybe it’s the management. I don’t know, but it’s one pass by.

As this is one of the few restaurants in Raytown, we are forced to eat there on occasion. The only reason they received 2 stars and not one, is due mainly to the bar staff who are courteous.

We arrived with my 92 year old father and asked to have a seat near the door since it is difficult for him to walk. We were seated on the far side aisle just across from the windows. When questioning our waitress about my choice from the special menu, she pointed out that it was the same as what was on the regular menu, which it was not. I told her the chicken on the regular menu also had shrimp. She debated the issue with me before finally acknowledging I was correct. It took quite a while for our meals to come out even though there were only a few other families in the restaurant at the time. After taking a few bites of my salad and chicken meal, I waited for our waitress so I could request more dressing and more queso. After 10 minutes I finally saw our waitress, but instead of bringing the condiments, she was taking another tables order. I waved her down again and asked a second time for the dressing and queso. She blamed it on the kitchen with no apology. Another 10 minutes passed, by then my father and husband were done eating and my meal was cold. We waited another 5 minutes and still no waitress. She had never refilled water glasses, or soda, or coffee. We’d had enough and as my husband helped dad to the car, I went on the hunt for a manager. Found one at the back register and unloaded my disappointment about the service from the beginning. On a positive note, this little red-headed manager was very professional and apologetic. Interestingly, our waitress, who had only been seen 3 times prior, passed by me 4 times in the 5 minutes I stood there talking to the manager. The manager stopped her twice to ask a question, and even then, no apology was forthcoming from her. The manager removed my meal charge from the bill and asked if that would be satisfactory. When I said no it wouldn’t be, then she zeroed out our bill completely. This manager again apologized for the poor service. There is absolutely NOEXCUSE for such poor customer service in regards to the waitress. We live only minutes from this location and wish there were more restaurants to choose from in Raytown, but alas, there are not many. This is not the only time we have had poor service and problems with our orders at this Applebees location. Needless to say, we are done here and will not be back. Hopefully a responsible regional manager will read these reviews and make some changes. Otherwise, I fear this location is going to be known for their incredibly poor service.

I’m not a HUGE fan of chain establishments but I’ve always had up & down experiences at Applebees. This time… I was elated b/c the service was great, the salad my husband an I enjoyed were both wonderful(he ordered the Fried Chicken Salad & I ordered the Asian Salad) an we were FULL afterwards. We did share the thai flatbread which was amazing as an appetize. Enjoyed some cosmo’s which were so-so an played a game on a tablet on the table that yes, we paid $.99 for but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. :) Best part — — — — - SMOKING section! haha

Blech. Service was slow and the food was terrible. I don’t know whose idea it was to put honey BBQ on chicken and then out it on mac and cheese, but that combo of flavors does not work. We will not be returning. Plus, I’m not a big fan of places that still have a separate smoking section.

Yes, I was in Raytown. No, really I was. My cousin and I had to wait for her cell phone to be delivered to the store we were at, so we decided to grab lunch. Applebee’s was in the lot across from the phone store. We made the trek over. Upon entry, the place was DEAD! Odd considering that every place else in the area was very busy. We were seated by a very lack luster greeter. Our server however appeared immediately and was bubbly and a pleasure to deal with(this takes a sad turn of sorts later). We ordered sweet teas and perused the menu. Let me just start by saying that I hadn’t eaten Applebee’s in years(not since I worked for the PR firm that handled them. Say 11 years). My cousin and I ordered the soup and entrée combo($ 6.99). She ordered the French Onion Soup & Roast Beef, Bacon and Mushroom Melt. I ordered the Tomato Basil Soup and Lemon Shrimp Fettucine. Our orders arrived pretty quickly and I immediately remembered the first reason I do not care for Applebee’s, the portions were small for the price. Hardly a value at the $ 6.99. As my cousin proceeded to dig in, she fought with the cheese on her French onion soup trying to cut it. Once she got it cut, the croûton was completely saturated with soup and breaking down. My soup had to wait as I was not given a spoon with my silverware or on my dish. It took some time to get a server as none were to be found(I did mention the place was DEAD, right?). After about 10 minutes, I flagged the first server I saw and asked for a spoon. Fortunately my soup was still warm, but not very appetizing(second reason I recall disliking Applebee’s) I couldn’t taste the tomato over the heavily garlicy, yet crispy croutons and when I could taste the soup the«basil» flavor had an odd tinge to it that just didn’t say«fresh» or «basil». My Lemon Shrimp Fettucine wasn’t much better. The shrimp were cooked properly, but were over powered by the lemon butter. The pasta itself was having personality issues. Some of it was chewy, the rest was just bordering on overdone. The artichoke hearts used in the dish were tough, chewy, and fibrous. Not what I expect from proper artichoke hearts. The sauce was a broken down mess. The lemon and(I assume) butter didn’t quite marry in the dish. The whole thing seemed like a Mediterranean spin on a poorly executed Chop Suey. The only reason this location got a 1 star was the server, who though very friendly seemed a bit off in her own world and not all there with the people she was serving. Upon exiting, my cousin and I looked at each other and said the same thing. Soup at Panera would have been better. Actually the hot bar at the QuikTrip across the road would have been a huge improvement over what we had just gotten. Applebee’s I disliked you 11 years ago and you haven’t changed your ways since. You’re still horrible and I won’t be back. Even if my server can sing like Whitney Houston. *facepalm*

Was passing through on our way home to Texas. We waited nearly 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us at the door and I had to ask for someone to seat us. Apparently, the hostess was too busy texting, running around, and talking on her phone. The server was nice. My girlfriend ordered a burger and fries. I wasn’t too hungry, so a bowl of tomato soup for me. I also ordered a drink. Our food came out in good time. It was a very small bowl of soup. Tasted like it was right out of the grocery store can isle. My girlfriend ordered her burger medium done. It came out charcoal burnt next to a sprinkle of uncooked fries. I finally got my drink after my food came. Maybe Applebee’s serves drinks after you get your food instead of before? Or, Maybe this is just a location people should avoid. It did seem like the place for the local neighborhood guys to bring their dates, though.

Hubs and I have been to Applebee’s restaurants from Phoenix, Arizona to Casper, Wyoming. There are some regional differences, but the nice thing about Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar is that we can count on a menu with a large selection of sandwiches, salads and entrees that will guarantee we can find something Hubby & I will like and nearly always with friendly, helpful servers. The Applebee’s location on 350 Highway in Raytown is near our home. So we end up here several times a year. If we are hungry, we order a steak, baked potato & seasonal veggies. If we are looking for something instead of beef, we also enjoy some of the chicken dishes such as Fiesta Lime Chicken or the Crispy Orange Chicken and pasta dishes like the Cajun Shrimp pasta. If I’m in the mood for a burger I like the Cowboy burger that comes with crispy onion straws. Hubby’s favorite is the Bacon Cheddar burger or just a Cheese Burger. He said that it’s a good burger and easier to eat than the ones at Ruby Tuesdays & Red Robin which generally have a tendency to slip and slid apart while eating. I can’t say that about the Cowboy burger, but I just wrap an extra napkin around it and hold it over my plate and I manage just fine. On our most recent visit, I ordered a soup and lunch entrée combo. The soup was a very tasty creamy clam chowder and I had the cheeseburger sliders(two small bun burgers topped with melty cheese and onion with a squeeze of chipotle mayo). Hubby enjoyed his regular sized cheeseburger and fries and said it was cooked ‘just right’. Applebee’s isn’t going to surprise you with much that is «new» or «daring» but no matter whether you are at your neighborhood location or in Pensacola, Florida, you can probably count on feeling at home in Applebee’s and getting food and service that will pleasingly sustain you.

The no silverware or straw for my Pepsi should have been a sign of things to come. They forgot my salad until I reminded them about it when they served everyone else’s about the time the food came out. Wasn’t a matter of speedy service but the total opposite with about a half hour after ordering. Told them to forget it because it’s pointless at this point. Never once offered to refill my drink after trying to signal when passing by. No salad. No refill. No tip. Shouldn’t have to babysit my order
