First time ever here. Food it excellent. A lot of food for the prices. You definitely don’t go home hungry! Highly recommend the restaurant! You can buy meats at the butcher shop as well.

I had their steak tips with sweet fries and veggie, and the tips were very good and cooked perfectly, the sides were just okay. My husband had their steak and cheese burger which wasn’t anything special and comparable to any other chain burger. Their fries lacked seasoning. Service was great, there were a lot of interesting things on the menu we would be willing to try on another visit, and the atmosphere was nice. We left satisfied but not impressed, but we plan to give it another shot.

The Tuckaway is a staple to the area as its one of two good restaurants in the Epping/Raymond area. Their beer list is good with mostly local craft beers. The food is above average as well and their menu has been unique in the past. The smoked meat plate was a favorite. The Tuckaway gets crowded early and they do not take reservations. I have walked in to be told it’s a 90−120min wait. The place is good but it’s not THAT good. They offer you a seat at the bar but it’s usually a miracle if you can get one. They will often have entire dining rooms empty while advertising a 90min wait. On Sunday and Monday they offer BOGO lobster rolls. They’re one of the few places that offers them traditional(with mayo) or warm(with drawn butter) but they’ve consistently raised their prices over the last few years to the point where BOGO isn’t really a great deal anymore. Notwithstanding, the food is good and the atmosphere is classic NH. It’s just no longer the bargain watering hole it used to be.

Well, you will never go away hungry, that’s for sure… lots and lots of choices on the menu, everything in my party looked absolutely awesome. I had the burger king with onion rings and was totally satisfied.. .the salads in particular looked exceptional, and people raved about the steak tips. Can’t wait to go back again sometime… I can see why it’s always so busy!!!

This is my husband’s new favorite place to get steak tips. He loves them so much that he has happily waited two hours for a table on a crowded night. I’ve started picking them up as takeout as a surprise after he’s had a long day at work. Whenever friends and family come to visit, he tries to take them there – and then tries to make them order the steak tips. I dig the layout, because we’ve always eaten either up front or in the back room. In my opinion, the bar is a little loud for conversation. There is plenty of seating for people waiting for a table, but sometimes it gets full. They also have toys and the like to entertain kids. The wait can get extremely long. If you go early or on weeknights, though, it usually isn’t as bad. The appetizers are all good, they have Down East Cider on tap, the steak tips are great and browsing their store is a pretty good way to pass the time while you wait for a table. It’s always been a good experience. I’ve almost always ordered the steak tips, but I’ve also tried a(very good) burger and a chicken dish that my friend ordered and I had a taste of. All of them were worth the money. Our servers were all excellent, attentive and kept our drinks filled. I love the pretty water bottles they sometimes leave at the table.

Delicious. Everything is great! Moved to the area 3 weeks ago and have already eaten here 4 times. The service is phenomenal and everything we have tried I would order again. Definitely recommend it!

I stopped into the Tavern on a Wednesday night to find a 45 minute wait, but wow was it worth it! The steak tips are by far the most tender I’ve ever had!

This place is awesome. The food is melt in your mouth delicious. I could cut through the filet mignon with my spoon! We always go to the butchery for summer grilling. They stock EVERYTHING in there. Meats, sides, marinades, beer, dips, frozen prepared foods, everything. The steak tips are delicious and tender and we always get different marinades. I can’t say enough good things about them. The sausages come in so many flavors we’re keeping a list so we can try them all. I’ve never had anything even sub par from this joint. Plus they have a great local beer selection… and vapor shots for the adventurous, who knew? I have and will continue to recommend this place highly to anyone who is even remotely in the area. It’s totally worth a road trip!

This place is okay, but not my favorite by any means. As you can imagine from a resturant that also boasts of having a butcher shop, they have quite a bit of meat on the menu. Lots of creative burgers, beers, and adequately priced steaks. The lobster roll($ 16 for normal size, $ 30 for giant), was less than impressive. I ordered it warm with butter, and the bun was soggy by the time it came out, containing the bare minimum of lobster meat. Their lobster mac and cheese($ 20) is huge, but again lacks a normal portion of lobster. They do not accept reservations, so there’s often a wait. Honestly, just not sure what all the hype is about.

This place is amazing! I have never had a bad meal here. I love the butchery attached to the restaurant and the food his second to none. The place to go for burgers for sure with clever and delicious combinations make for an enjoyable meal. Make sure to try a tini bikini martini(those words maybe not that order) the muffle fruit elevates it!

Every time I come here I know it means an extra half hour at the gym! I’ve never walked away from this place disappointed — I cannot say that about any other restaurant. The staff, atmosphere, portion sizes, cleanliness, food quality & taste, parking, bathrooms, menu choices, and prices all are in synch. The Ribeye($ 20) is tasty enough without steak sauce. It has enough fat to induce flavor but not so much where it’s half the portion. Real mash potatoes, not the boxed stuff and a real side salad. Longhorn & Texas Roadhouse(you know the fake steakhouses) could learn a few things here. See ya again soon! PS — you guys ever thought about doing breakfasts?

Great place! We are here as a party of four. The food was fantastic. Large portions, fresh, and tasted great. Service was fast, attentive, and very pleasant. The beer list was impressive, although they had some of the top stuff tapped. The owner, Paul, was nice enough to let us in the shop when we realized it had closed after our dinner. He was generous and appreciative of the fact that we drove an hour to get there on a Monday night. We will certainly return and will recommend to anyone.

I am going to start this review with: DONTGETTHELOBSTERROLLS! I say this because everything else is so amazing and everyone always gets that plain typical lobster roll. Please, try one of their amazing other selections, I have never been disappointed. I will say once in a blue moon I will get poor service which is a bummer.

There’s nothing like a place where you can enjoy your meal and then go to their on-site butcher shop to buy the ingredients and meat to make it on your own. Tuckaway Tavern is a gem. The restaurant/bar is large and friendly with great device and even better food. They event accommodate gluten free and vegetarian guests, though to is best to be a carnivore here. Them eat, whether it is steak or chicken is top-notch and everything comes in generous portions. The two pigs and a cow burger is to die for and you WILL have a hard time finishing it. The fries aren’t the worlds greatest, but the meat is just excellent. Also they have poutine on the menu. Just saying. The butcher shop is amazing. You can get steak tips, chicken tenders, and chicken breast by the pound in various creative and delicious marinades. They also have wildly creative(and huge) sausages and stuffed chicken. I take it all home and freeze for meals on the week. They also have a ton of prepared sides. Having a party and need booze, apps, and dessert as well? They’ve got you covered. Support local businesses and do yourself a favor. Go to Tuckaway. You won’t regret it.

Portion size is the main problem here. I came here with a group of 4 here around 4:30p on Saturday. There was a 40 minute wait, which was surprising, but no big deal. It gave us a chance to sample the drinks, which were very original and diverse. I had the Purple Haze, composed of Chambord and other booze. Surprisingly light. Now the food. I had the Buffalo Mac N Cheese, but damn Tuckaway… the portion size was ridiculous. I only got a 3rd of the way through before tapping out. My table had a few burgers as well, also huge. Some people like taking home a pound of food. I prefer maybe having a little left, not 2 full meals worth. I guess I view this as a negative, though I’m sure people think differently.

Wow this place has skyrocketed in popularity! Sad the original owners had to give up the place after the expansion from the little shop around the corner, but the people who run it now are doing an awesome job! Count on at least a 45−60+ minute wait on Mondays and Tuesdays for as long as they do this BOGO deal on lobster rolls in the Tavern. We were too hungry to wait the 60 to 75 minute estimate on a Monday at 6:30PM and went elsewhere. Tried again Tuesday at 4:30PM and it was still 45 minutes. But this time they gave us the option of trying to find some seats at the bar and ordering our food there ahead of time. When the table came available they would page us. We needed to be on the road by 6 – 6:30 to head to Boston airport to drop off Graham G. and his better half for their return flight home to Glasgow. :(It worked out and we were on our way as scheduled. The noise level, if you’re not used to it, is worthy of ear plugs. But when we got paged, the hostess took us to the new back room area, semi closed off from the bar now. Much better to have a conversation. Worth the wait. The lobster rolls were a hit. I had one of my faves, seafood pie. Though it was a little charred on top, and my side of steamed veg was overcooked, then sitting too long, barely warm and very dry looking. Didn’t have room for the healthy stuff anyway with the size of my entrée. ;) Glad I didn’t have a starter either, though the lobster chowder is delicious and oh so tempting. Hubby and I do enjoy the occasional trip to the Butchery too. Recently got some beautiful tender filet mignons and marinated chicken breasts for the grill. Yummmm! They have a loyalty flier too, so pick one up and get it stamped whenever you spend more than $ 20 in the shop. When it’s full you can redeem for a free economy meat pack.
