Solano’s is a woohoo!-as-good-as-it-gets Western Wear store in Raton, a definite «must stop» when in Raton. This is a 50 – 60 year old family owned and run business; they take pride in what they make & sell. Everything from their hand-​made leather goods to the shop’s western wear is about as authentic as it can be which is, I’m sure, what they aim for. The trendy Cowboys and Indians magazine should highlight this original western store. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and all part of the family operation. The collection of «if these hats could talk» is one of a kind, and definitely worth a look see. Prices seem to fit the quality and brand names. It’s okay to look!

This is a good western store that has clothes, hats, boots and accessories.
Attached is a leather working shop. The guy has been there many, many years. He repairs boots, makes saddles, tack and hand tools leather belts, scabbards, etc. I’m having him tool me a belt.

As far as I am concerned, Solano’s is the best place in northern New Mexico to shop for western wear and gear. They have a wide selection and competitive prices, but what sets them apart is excellent product knowledge. I have been a customer since 1981 and purchased my first decent hat and boots at Solano’s under Ralph’s expert guidance. I was last there in 2008 and hope to get back this year. Most highly recommended!
