We moved up from Texas and couldn’t find a good, thick cut brisket for years. Luckily, we found this wonderful place! The owner special ordered our brisket. It’s a bit expensive from what we are used to, but it’s worth it. We got 12 pounds of brisket for $ 80, and of course the Italian sausage really is out of this world.

I heart George’s! This butcher is pretty much the best. Not only is his meat super-fresh and delicious, the prices are very reasonable and he is incredibly nice. My favorite thing in the world is pulled pork and his pork is tops. He’s always so patient when I hold out my hands to explain how much I want(since the concept of knowing what 5 pounds of pork looks like is apparently beyond me). It’s fun to watch him trim and bone the meat. He has clearly been doing this forever and he has great economy of movement when working. It’s nice to see a small family run business that really cares about what they are doing. It might seem intimidating the first time, since it’s not all laid out like a grocery store… you have to know what you are looking for. But even if you aren’t 100% clear on what you want, you can just tell him what you are trying to accomplish and he will figure out what you need, and how much of it. It’s a much nicer experience than going to the grocery store, for sure. It’s the type of place that reminds you of small town living. When you go in, chances are that he’ll remember what you ordered the last time and ask you how it went. He’s not open on Mondays, which is good to keep in mind. George’s has made me realize that everyone should go to a butcher for their meat at least once, and ideally, purchase all their meat there. Not to sound sappy, but for me, it really drives home the fact that the meat that you eat was once a part of an animal. It’s not just some sanitized, vacuum sealed, styrofoamed item for purchase. I think it’s important to have a real connection with the food you eat, and George’s helps me with that.
