Fuji Sushi & Sake Bar

I lived in Florida for most of my life so good sushi places were a dime a dozen. I didn’t think I would be able to find a decent sushi restaurant here, and I’m so pleased that my husband and I gave Fuji Sushi a shot. Conveniently located in the Rushmore Mall, its extensive menu and delicious offerings makes it one of our favorite places to eat.
Our server was Lina (spelling? Server #3 on our receipt), and she was sweet, bubbly, attentive, and delightful. She made dining at Fuji Sushi a pleasure, along with all of the fantastic food, as well as the surprisingly out-​of-​this-​world avocado boba milkshake I finished before dinner. We love this place!

After an exceptionally disappointing experience at Ichiban, I was craving a better sushi experience. I certainly Found it at Fuji Sushi and Sake Bar. Their Sake selection is incredible. I tried several different kinds of sushi that were all very fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the toro they had available. Don’t bother with other sushi places in town, Fuji Sushi is the the real deal!

Amazing ! Best sirloin I’ve ever had! And their special sauce is to die for !! Their sushi isn’t bad either. Love how entertaining they are at the habachi gril! Definitely will come back!

My favorite sushi in rapid! The service is wonderful, and they always remember me when I walk in. The sushi is fresh and beautiful made every time! It’s the perfect place to curb your sushi cravings!

Wonderfully prepared, creative, palate and eye pleasing food. The best happy hour menu anywhere (jalapeño roll is my go to!). Something for everyone, wether you are a sushi fan or not. (My boyfriend has chicken fried rice and their amazing Rangoon). And TERRIFIC service! ! Always very polite, attentive, and accurate. Great place! (And yes, I was kinda of surprised too. (Not a mall food kinda person :)) We’re lucky to have such a nice place at our mall!!)

Driving to the east coast from Washington, we are big sushi eaters! This place was delightful. Don’t let the mall location sway you! The service was stellar. I’ve never had a waiter pour my soy sauce for me, haha. Very enjoyable. Lots of choices for sushi rolls, fish is fresh and

Amazing sushi! In fact, the whole menu is delicious including the appetizers and sides!!! Plus they have MF-​ing bubble tea!!!

As some reviews stated, don’t let the location fool you… skeptical it was connected to a mall, but the food was delicious! We also got lucky bc we happened to arrive during happy hour! We ordered so many different appetizers and rolls that would have cost well over $ 75 in some places, but bill came out to $ 30 something! We loved it so much, we went back the next day! I’m sure we will not be back in this neck of the woods but if you get a chance, I’d definitely make a stop here. Plus, our server was so nice and accommodating!

Came here based in multiple good reviews. It was a Tuesday evening and we had our two children with us (age 3 & 6). The dining room only had 5 – 6 other customers so we were seated right away. Richard, our server, was very attentive. In fact, he is the reason I give 5 stars rather than 4. Our kids wanted a bubble tea to share and he offered to split it for us in order to avoid the bickering of who was drinking too much, etc. Throughout the meal, Richard talked with the kiddos and even bantered with our son a bit. Very good natured and friendly. He helped us select a few rolls and some sashimi. While the Godzilla roll and the coconut roll were both good (and both fried) the tempura batter was a bit thick (hence the reason for the 4 stars for the food). HOWEVER, the samurai roll was AMAZING! Spicy and fresh! The kids shared a children’s sweet and sour chicken (best I’ve ever had) which was a generous portion. The sashimi is thickly sliced (yum!) and fresh. Finally, Richard brought us a sample of their pineapple infused cold sake – DELISH! Must stop here if in Rapid City and craving sushi. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it’s in a mall – you will be pleasantly surprised!

If you looking for the best restaurant, Fuji sushi & sake bar is the right one for you .
They do lunch special and happy hour. And all the food is the best. The sushi special all about the fresh tuna, is very very good, such as the sex on the beach roll, the ruby roll , heart attack roll and the coconut roll
Fuji sushi & sake bar located in the Rushmore mall, is the best restaurant. And the services also very very good, all do the good job. I will be back!!!

We came to this place based on the reviews in Unilocal.As mentioned by other Unilocalers, Restaurant is attached to the mall but once inside you don’t feel like you are in the mall.
It’s has a Mom and Pop feel and the service was great.
We had the salmon and tuna sushi lovers and it was pretty decent for SD. The tiger roll was good as well.
Boba was a treat to have but it’s nothing to rave about.
Would definitely come back for more sushi.

Can’t even tell it’s in a mall once you’re inside. Tuna had just been delivered, so super fresh. Had tuna tartar salad, white tuna avocado roll and volcano roll. Prices great for sushi. Service also excellent. The only disappointment and reason for missing star is lack of creativity when trying to modify a roll with the sushi chef.

At first I was hesitant to give sushi in South Dakota a try, because, well the ocean is quite a ways away! I am so glad that I did!!! The restaurant is in the mall, but once inside you don’t feel like you are in a chain/​mall restaurant. I had the salmon sushi first. I generally judge a sushi restaurant by the quality of its salmon– and my salmon was amazing! I had the salmon sushi, red snapper sushi, yellowtail sushi and NYC roll and DJ roll. We will be back! So glad to have given this gem a try! Geez, now I want sushi again…

Initially I was very reluctant to try this place, (it’s at the mall) but I’m so glad I tried it!!! I’ve eaten at all the sushi places in the area, and have to admit that I had been making concessions and lowering my sushi standards because well, SD.
I just came from Seattle where there are probably more sushi places than American restaurants and felt like most of the places I’ve tried so far were not very fresh and had at least 1 disappointing roll on my plate. It sucks to feel like you’ve wasted money, but this place almost made me feel like I gained some money and actually had a few rolls that are better than in Seattle! I’ve been so impressed as to come here twice in one week!
Best things I tried/​very unique:
Sweet potato roll (deeply flavorful, warm, and with a sticky sweet sauce/​crispy sesame seeds)
Pineapple Sake (chilled, house marinated pineapples come with the sake)
Avocado peanut rolls (never heard of these before but crunchy roasted peanuts inside add some good texture and protein).
As a vegetarian who loves and craves sushi, I am deeply appreciative to find a place that uses almost as much brainpower, creativity, and passion for the veggie menu as for the regular menu. I hope they continue to innovate in this area!
The atmosphere is cute and would be a good spot for a date. Despite being in the mall, you really feel transported to a stand alone tropical dining room.
I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family in Rapid City– we are lucky to have them!

Great food. Being from seattle I was a little nervous trying sushi in S.D.
But my wife and daughter convinced me to listen to some Unilocal ratings.
Outstanding service and the sushi I had was also outstanding. I took the wait staffs recommendation on ordering.
Next time we drive thru I would stop again.

Great service and delicious, fresh sushi. The bathrooms were abysmal but everything else was wonderful. I will definitely eat here when I’m in town and highly recommend it.

I give this place two stars not because the food was any good but because the ambience and the staff were nice but by no means would I want to experience dinner there again. At first I was really excited to see that this place had 5 stars on Unilocal and boba!

–Mango Bobo (overly sweet and mushy boba)
— Peach slush (actually pretty good not too sweet and no boba)

–broccoli and beef
the broccoli beef was ok. The beef was a little chewy but the sauce had a good flavor.
–mandarin chicken was really bad. The chicken had a rubbery texture and an overly sweet sauce. I felt like every dish had a soft/​mushy texture.
Each of these came with miso soup, rice and salad. The miso soup was bland and the tofu had no taste on top of that mine was lukewarm. The salad had a good miso dressing on it and the rice was fine.
–Godzilla role this was ok the avocado wasn’t rip and the outside was overly hard. We were expecting something way different from how it was described on the menu. The role looked very pretty when it was served but when we ate it there was not much to be desired.
I sadly wouldn’t come back here again. My suggestion is that if you have had really good Chinese food or boba before don’t come here because you will be let down.

The best sushi place in Rapid City, SD that I was able to find when i first moved here and to top it off they also have different kinds of boba drinks, which by the way are delicious. Their customer service is always attentive and professional. this is the place to go when you feel like having sushi!

If you’re looking for the best sushi in the 4 state area, this is where you will find it. My boyfriend and I had the spicy tuna roll, tuna sushi, salmon sushi, and the Godzilla roll. The fish was delicious. Very fresh, great texture, and the price is reasonable.
The staff is personable, which is what made me appreciate this restaurant more than just the food.
After having gone to Ichiban’s I wasn’t expecting much in the way of sushi up here. Now having been to both, Ichiban cannot hold a candle to the quality of sushi offered a Fuji’s.
