God, been coming here for since the place opened and it’s been going downhill the past 2 years. Peak season in March and the crowd was only middling, you can’t keep good help with that kind of tip flow. And they don’t do much to make the experience better for customers. We went in mid-afternoon on Sunday and it was not very busy. The average age of the crowd was about 65(OK, it’s the Coachella Valley, but Yard House attracts a much more vibrant crowd, and this place needs more energy. Desperately). Anyway it took the barmaid 10 minutes to take our order, she was too preoccupied with the light workload to be aggressively serving new customers. The food came out very quickly — that was a surprise — but 10 minutes later the barmaid changed the channel to a Mexican soccer match. We were the only two people paying attention to the TV in the place — other than the dishwashers, perhaps — so it seemed odd that she would kill the only source of entertainment attractive to the customers in the place. Soccer is more exciting to play than to watch, and the barmaid was not pleasant enough to want to chat with — I was not interested in quizzing her on her upcoming move/vacation to the Cape. Overall the experience was a complete drag — dull atmosphere, slow bar service, and inconsiderate behavior. There are so many other places in Palm Desert that offer a more pleasant environment, I will not be going back here — and I sincerely believe this place will be out of business by Summer 2016.

The best in the desert! Great bbq place. Service is sometimes great, sometimes ok and sometimes just not good. But the food is great. Lunchtime bbq sandwiches is big with choice of 2 sides and yummy. Always come here when I visit the desert and I’ve told all my friends and they agree!

Giving this restaurant one start because of the service. Worst customer service I have ever experience. If you don’t believe me, go one day and just seat at the bar. Bartender won’t even talk to you or check on you and if they do, they do it with such an annoying attitude. My boyfriend caught one of the bartender rolling his eyes at a couple after he served them but heyy! they still expect that tip… first and last time I’ll go there. Employees are friendly to each other and talk to each other but they dont interact with their customers. Food was Okay. Had better.

Great beer, food, and hospitality. Shirt ribs were tender and delicious along with everything else. The garlic fries were heavy with garlic, and the Brussels sprouts were very good as well.

If your from the south or ever even been to the south I don’t recommend the BBQ here. The pulled pork and the pulled chicken taste like crock pot food with liquid smoke. Very little flavor. The BBQ sauce is very sweet(tastes like kraft) and the coleslaw, fries, and beans are very typical big box restaurant. All in all same food you can get at Chili’s or Applebees. Prices are pretty good. My plate I pictured was $ 14 for two sides and two sandwiches. Beer was great. Atmosphere was good and the décor was nice. If your headed to Joshua Tree go to Willie Boys or Pappy and Harriotts instead!

The best part of the meal was the butter and the complimentary sorbet at the end. The sides were meh, the fries were soggy, the ribs were the furthest thing from fall off the bone. I’m no chef but I’ve made much better ribs in a slow cooker. Our server was good though. We had such high hopes for this place. Extremely disappointed. If you want ribs, go across the street toApplebee’s…sorry to say but they probably have much better ribs.

Pizza Pizza Pizza Be coming to Babe’s BBQ in Rancho Mirage California or years . we always get their fabulous BBQ pizza and always absolutly Loved it ! Great pizza, so great in fact that I take a Pic of each one and post it on INSTAGRAM as well as Reviews on sites like this one Pinterest, Tumblr, and ZAGAT It’s always about 11″ diameter and 1″ thick .now this may sound picky, but they’ve reduced the size to 10″ x ¾″ .that’s not such a big deal .but what I’m Disappointed in is… Managements«Testy Attitude» when this is inquisitively pointed out. Taken a «breather» from Babes for awhile… Disappointed !

I mean what could be wrong with a place that has a huge metal pig in the front of the building? It’s a huge place with an outside patio and a nice gas fireplace in the middle. We were seated out there but then as a storm was rolling in, who knew it rained in the desert, they started taking in all the cushions just in case. They have a pretty extensive menu and of course all the portions are huge. My husband had pulled pork which came as two smaller size sandwiches and a huge pile of fries. I had what they called a po’ boy seafood salad which came with a little individual loaf of corn bread which was the best part of the meal. The salad had lots of seafood but even with the dressing there wasn’t much taste. It was ok, and probably if you just came and had a drink an appetizers it would be ok, just wasn’t all that great for BBQ,

Recently arrived in Rancho Mirage for my winter visit. Lot of rain today so I wanted to go to a local place. Babes is less than a mile away. I have walked past it many times but have never dined there. I ordered the half slab of ribs(sauce on the side) along with fries and cole slaw. I was seated at the bar by my choice. The bar service was competent and attentive. My dinner came and the ribs were cold, grey and filled with fat. I asked the bartender to return them to the kitchen and cash me out. A «manager» presented himself and, remarkably, challenged my point of view. He lost me when he suggested I really didn’t know anything about ribs. An odd comment when you are 40 years older than the guy challenging you and you eaten ribs in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Birmingham, New Orleans. Memphis, Nashville and East Saint Louis. Also an odd comment from a floor manager in a retail business. I have eaten ribs in many places, but I will not be eating them at Babes in Rancho Mirage.

Place is a lot bigger than I had imagined. This would be a nice place for a meet-up with friends. We came here for beer. I tried the sampler. I didn’t manage to finish it all, but I did enjoy them. Staff seems to work very hard, and they’re attentive. They also seem to get along well. Can’t really say much about the food since all we got at the time of our visit were the garlic fries. I regret to say that our trip to the area did not include cravings for bar-B-que. So obviously, this review isn’t an all-encompassing description of how your experience here might be. I would need to come back again the next time I’m in the area.

Stopped by Babe’s for dinner during my Palm Springs trip with my boyfriend. The smell of bbq instantly hits you when you walk in the door and all of sudden you feel really excited that you chose this place. Started with a bbq wings appetizer. A little salty but good. Lots of different choices but I ended up going with the Babes original sandwich and chose brisket with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. The brisket was very hard but still pretty good if you use a lot of sauce. And then I found a piece of hair… My boyfriend ended up finding another piece of hair in his food as well. The manager was very apologetic for the situation and didn’t charge us for the dinner. He was completely sincere and I could tell that he was shocked as well. Anyways I would come back because of the delicious food and service.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I’ve only been here twice with my fiancé’s family, about one year apart around Christmas each time. My experience was consistent. As a vegetarian I can’t say I love this place since it’s a veritable slaughterhouse, but it does have its perks. Pros: Attentive service THEBEST mashed potatoes. (If I could rate this place on mashed potatoes alone they’d get a five.) Generous portions and sides Amazing fries Free refills on drinks – I love their peach iced tea Free ice cream at the end of the meal Cons: Extremely long wait times(30 — 45 mins) Expensive Not a lot of options for vegetarians/vegans They’re very poor about substitutions. I requested the BBQ salad without any meat and they would not substitute avocado, instead they said they would have to charge me $ 4, which is ridiculous. They also charged full price for the salad without the meat. The salad was just ok. In my book, a salad should not have to rely on meat in order to be good. Obviously this is not a salad place, but they clearly hold non-meat-eaters in contempt. So, if you’re a carnivore, you may be quite satisfied with this establishment. If you’re a vegetarian and your family is dragging you to eat here, you have been warned.

Stop in for drinks and appetizers on the patio fire pit, a wedge, bbq spicy wings and fried green tomatoes. Russian River Damnation, Hog Wild hurricane. Good portions, and great taste, service was awesome.

The beer selection is limited. Really good beers, but no Amber or pale ales. So you may be thrilled with a beer there, or you may not. The BBQ is really good. Melts in your mouth. I’ve had better elsewhere, but this is close to the best I’ve had. Second time had the shrimp — I died and went to heaven it was so good. Service was quite good. All in all a 4−½ stars experience.

Great BBQ! We ordered the tri tip sandwiches with sweet potato fries and turkey chili. The sandwiches were delicious and so were the sweet potato fries(those are really sweet). The Turkey chili was okay. The spicy pickles were my favorite!!! Ahhh sooo good and addicting. I could eat just the spicy pickles haha. Service was good– our server was a blond guy with a ponytail and glass who was really nice and funny. He recommended the blackberry pie and ice cream. The homemade ice cream was delicious(I actually liked it more than the pie since the pie was too sweet).

Horrible customer service given by a reddish brunette waitress. Talk about a bad attitude as soon as she came to our table I wanted to get up and leave because she was so rude. We’ll didn’t stick around I paid for my drinks and left. This was my first time and my last time coming to this restaurant! I decide to take my business to the Cheesecake Factory instead where they actually know what good customer service is! Their four cheese pasta was delicious and their Georgia peach cocktail was amazing! If you want to have a good evening out, stay far away from babes bbq and go to one of the other better options out here!

I am so disappointed because I have been wanting to eat here for over 3 years, and was optimistic by the Menu. I will be positive first, wedge salad and fried green tomatoes were good, the waitress was kind, and the place is very roomy. My wife ordered the Texas combo which had Tri-tip and pulled short ribs with 2 sides. I tasted her short ribs and they were ok, the tri tip looked dry. The best part of her dish was the baked sweet potato. I had the 8 day aged Bone in 16 ounce Rib-eye, and I was very excited when it was ordered. Then, it showed up. This looked great from above and yet something was off and when I looked at it from the side it was very thin, like they had taken a 16 ounce steak and sliced it so they could get 3 steaks out of it. I was very displeased and in shock because I have never had a place charge 33.00 for a steak that had been obviously altered. I understand the need to cut costs, yet this was the cheapest thing I have ever witnessed. I had the(drowned) cole slaw and sweet potato fries for sides. The fries were the best part of my meal. My wife ordered the skillet baked brownie and it was awful, DRYDRYDRY cakey excuse for a brownie with a dollop of cheap ice cream on top. BUMMMMMEEEDDDDD… The sweet waitress said they used to make there own root beer and now serve it through the fountain. I trust places that make their lemonade and other drinks fresh and this should of been a red flag for me because it seems they’re cutting corners and going for cheap solutions to save time and the heck with quality, so sad because I’m sure this must of been better, at least I hope so. In closing save the 110.00 and go to whole foods and buy a real 16 ounce steak. I wish we would of stopped at the wedge salad and tomatoes because it got worse from there. :(

A group of us came to Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse when we were visiting Rancho Las Palmas. It’s located in the River shopping center, across the street from the Omni Hotel. The restaurant is very large, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, although group seating outdoors is limited. Overall, we all enjoyed our meals here. My biggest disappointment was the Beet Salad that I ordered, which cost $ 13. When it came, it was half a beet, cubed, on a couple pieces of arugula with some pine nuts and feta. For $ 13, I was expecting the salad to be more substantial, and it was nothing more than an appetizer for one or two people. The server allowed me to order a different entrée, instead, and I ordered the Babe’s Classic BBQ Salad with brisket. For $ 2 more, this was a substantial salad fit for a meal. I was much happier! The BBQ salad was also served with a side of warm cornbread, which was delicious! The rest of the group ordered a selection of burgers and bbq sandwiches, fries and sweet potatoes fries, which everyone was happy with. There is a great selection of beer, and the mixed drinks are tasty, too! The service was mediocre, definitely could have been better. But, overall, we enjoyed the food and ambiance and would be back. The restaurant has a very«chain-like» feel, so I guess set expectations before visiting. It’s like a Southern version of the Cheesecake Factory.

My boyfriend and I dined here, while visiting the Palm Springs area, on a Friday night. We were fortunate to score a table, without waiting. Our server was Shaun, and he made the entire dining experience, that much better! He recommended the fried green beans, which were absolutely delicious. He was informative about the history of the restaurant, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was hot, presentable, and served promptly. The ribs were tender and seasoned accordingly. The tri tip was also outstanding. I wasn’t crazy about the cole slaw, however. The place is decorated so nicely and laid out well. We will return!

We came here when the restaurant first opened 13 years ago. Then, it was completely packed with everyone else wanting to try this newest restaurant. We really loved the food and the portions were huge. Mostly, I remember the huge full-size sweet potato that took up most of my plate. For some reason, it took us 13 years to come back for our second visit: Starters: Corn bread loaf, which is not gluten-free, so I didn’t taste it. I had a Caesar salad($ 9) with no croutons. The salad dressing was a bit watered down, so the flavor was mostly just the lettuce. Definitely overpriced and blah. Husband had the wedge salad($ 7) that came with candied pecans, tomatoes and blue cheese crumbles, topped with blue cheese dressing. He thought the salad was just as good as he expected. But, we were disappointed: Our salads arrived, then seconds later our entrées arrived. The server offered to take our entrées back to keep warm, but we said no to that. Not appetizing. Dinner Entrées: My order was the baby back ribs($ 26) with fresh broccoli. I added a half yam with honey butter and candied pecans for an extra $ 1. Although the size is much smaller than I remember, it was definitely worth the extra dollar. The ribs and BBQ sauce were tasty, but a bit chewy. Husband’s entrée was the smoked short rib sandwich($ 15), that was topped with fried onions, mozzarella cheese and BBQ sauce. With a choice of one side, he ordered the sweet potato fries. He was much happier with his meal than I was with mine. Negatives: The menu is dark and we were outside with minimal lighting, so it was hard to read. Nothing on the menu is gluten-free, although the server we had was very helpful and able to answer all my questions. Overall: average and overpriced.
