This is my favorite Straw Hat location! I’ve been going here since I was a kid & I still go here with my family as an adult. Always excellent pizza & the karaōke is entertaining to watch on Saturday nights!

I love their Hot Hat(Pastrami and Cheese) meals and salad bar. Love them as a kid growing up and am glad and really appreciate the only one left in the Sacramento area.

Ordered delivery to my motel room. Thought I’d change it up as I usually order Mtn Mike’s. Was told 45 — 60 minutes. Dude was here in 30. Would have been good if the crust wasn’t burned beyond edible. The flavors were ruined by the burnt crust taste and smell. Regrets for giving dude a $ 5 tip for fast delivery. hey… Take the time to cook it right. Burnt pizza sucks.

Straw Hat Pizza reminds you of a song from your childhood — really good at the time, but hard to appreciate as an adult. After the extended family decided to stop by on the way home from Lake Tahoe, we needed to grab some pizzas for dinner, and the location of Straw Hat Pizza near Folsom and Mather Mills was a good compromise. The restaurant is old, but clean and reminiscent of a classic pizza parlor. They have several HDTV with all the sports, several video games, and a separate area for kids birthday parties. I ordered two takeout pizzas and availed myself of the South Park pinball and Raiders game while waiting. Even with the complimentary garlic twists, the pizza was not very good. The toppings lacked flavor and the crust was really basic. It was hard to pay a lot of money for the pizza, especially after being spoiled by Papa Murphy’s. With coupons, this place may be more reasonable, but there are so many other better options along Folsom for pizza.

Its never been fantastic, but it’s never been burnt either. Delivery is sometimes a little slow, but also hasn’t been annoyingly late. I suppose what I’m saying is if you want food delivered in Rancho there are probably better options, but if you are dead set on pizza it will do just fine.

The older gentlemen have always been so kind generous to the community and the children’s activities. Have always supported them when they were in Rosemont and when they moved. Pizza was yummy too… now younger people not as friendly, prices seem off the charts, last order was messed up waits are long:(. I hope it corrects itself!

The remodeled Straw Hat is delightful… except for bathrooms need some attention. In evening, the salad bar is always fresh. Attentive staff and very good service. Straw Hat is very supportive of local music, with Dixieland bands and the Sacramento Banjo Band providing toe tapping music weekly.

I use to love straw hat pizza I used to eat it in the Bay and I was so happy when I found out that there were one just couple miles from me. I ordered a pan pizza meat lovers not cheap $ 33 dollars, I don’t think the sacramentians know what is a pan pizza I got a cheap version of the pan pizza I even told one of the employees that didn’t look like a pan pizza his response was just stupid and rude… She reply I don’t make the dough. What in the hell that even means? Any ways I won’t be back I though al pizza chains were suppose to all be the same… Not this place… :(

I posted a not so good review on here a couple of years ago and unfortunately I saw the need to post another not so good review on here. I was in the area a couple of weeks ago and had to use the bathroom. Normally I would prefer to just to find a secluded spot outside and not even bother to use somebody’s bathroom, but it was daytime and I could not find a spot. Check both gas stations on both sides of the restaurant and they either didn’t have a bathroom or didn’t want to let me use it. So unfortunately I decided to try Straw Hat. As I start to approach the bathroom, I’m greeted by a crazy lady(I’m guessing co-owner) who’s job was not to put pizzas out on the buffet(it was 1:30 and there was nothing on the buffet with guests there) but to guard the bathroom. She tells me in English that I could barely understand that the bathroom I was walking towards was for customers only and I had to use a «different» bathroom(notice how complicated this is?) The bathroom I walk into was being occupied by someone and their weeks worth of clothes so I ended up walking in and out and asked if I could use the«other» bathroom which you needed a key for. And she very rudely refused, so I very rudely said something to her and walked out and will NEVER go back. This is just another example of how terrible this place is and how the owners are. I understand the need to keep bums out of your establishments(which was sitting down in the toilet btw), but to turn off a potential customer like this shows they have absolutely no customer service skills and don’t care about their business. To see that they were more worried about protecting their bathroom than putting out a good buffet for their customers proves that. Mrs. Straw Hat wouldn’t let the Pizza Guy use her bathroom so she gets another online review she so richly deserves and you don’t need to tell me not to come back, because from what I’ve seen from your buffet on my multiple visits, there isn’t anything to come back to anyway. Go to Carl’s Jr across the street and use their bathroom where there’s not a crazy person guarding it and spend $ 7 on food and you’ll get about the same as you would if you sat at Straw Hat’s buffet for an hour.

I just read an article in Fridays SacBee about a fundraiser this location held on that day for Mariah Burgess. Burgess was struck by a LightRail train while crossing the tracks on Folsom & Coloma. :-( Straw Hat donated half of the proceeds from EVERY pizza sold that day as well as $ 1 of every lunch/dinner special as well to help with buried costs for Mariah. Thank you to the owner of Straw Hat at this location. To give a donation to this filter in their time of need is such a kind, generous, and compassionate thing to do. I worked with an Mother’s Against Drunk Driving a few years ago trying to get donations for the funeral of several young women that were killed by a drunk driver. It was not easy trying to get owners of businesses to part with their profits. It was impossible in many cases actually. With that being said, Straw Hat on Mather Field Road has gone above and beyond with their generous donation! They had a choice and they chose to do the generous thing and GIVE. This is also the hardest time of year to get donations due to the holidays. Many businesses are just tapped out! Thank you again Straw Hat. I hope that your donation comes back to you threefold! — — — — — — — — — — — — – PLEASEFREQUENTTHISOVERLYDESERVINGRESTAURANT, UnilocalERS!

Staff was friendly, the place was relatively clean(so many pizza joints are always so bad inside for some reason); the place is quite large inside, but there are plenty of dings and chips in furniture and walls and whatnot that keep me from saying the place looked ‘nice’ on the inside. But like I said, not bad at all for a pizza place. The staff were pretty friendly, you can tell they really want to please their customers, so that is where most of the stars is coming from. Prices are average, not bad but not cheap either. The food was good. Not amazing, but fresh(which is important to me at least). I just wasn’t a huge fan of the flavor personally, but it certainly would blow say Dominos or something out of the water. The dough was… interesting. You can tell its fresh, but kinda fun/weird, it reminds me basically of naan. They’ve got the high temps going and the dough appears to be of the same ingredients, so to me it definitely tasted like naan bread. Which isn’t bad, but not as good for pizza as you might think either. Some of the dough on the few slices I had was definitely burnt which was of course not very good. All in all, I would recommend the place for an informal gathering or taking the kids to while the parents watch the game or something.

I love their pizza and their family style feeds my family of 6 easily. Fresh dough, do not get charged extra for white sauce, and super fresh produce! Best pizza in Rancho Cordova in my opinion!

It’s straw hat… what can i say?! Not the greatest place ever, but definitely not the worst. It’s a mom and pop place, but it’s with the money. Pizza is good, place is ok. If you need some quick pizza with a friendly face… this is the place.

Thee best pizza delivery close to our house! I dont know if you are anything like me, but I hate greasy pizza. There is nothing worse than having a pizza delivered to your house and the bottom of the cardboard box is practically see-through. We’d had the above happen wayyyyyy too many times. Luckily, my husband took me to the Straw Hat one night on our way home from shopping. The pizza was fantastic and the atmosphere was very inviting. We spoke with the really sweet lady behind the counter, whom I think was the owner and she informed us that they delivered in our area. So, a few days ago, we took a chance and ordered delivery to our house in Mather. The pizza came and it was just as good as it was in the actual restaurant! We will only have out pizza delivered from Straw Hat from now on!

We’ve been searching for a truly great pizza in the area for a long time. We’ve found some decent boutique pizza places, but they are pretty far away, and expensive. Chicago Fire is reliable. But all of the chain places have been disappointing, until we found Straw Hat. People have different ideas of what makes good pizza, so let me tell you what I’m looking for in a pizza. The crust should be thin and crispy, not floppy and certainly not soggy. I don’t like the thick dough pizza. Lots of places claim to have a thin and crispy crust, and there are plenty that offer thin. But invariably, they are limp and could in no way be called«crisp». I had just about given up on finding one locally and accepted that I’d have to wait until I’m in Bend, OR where Pizza Mondo offers a world class pie. Alternatively, I thought I might try to find a way to make it at home, but that’s a tall order if you don’t have an actual pizza oven. My search for ways to pull it off at home led me to a blog where the author described the«California Crust» offered at Straw Hat as being exactly what I was searching for. Skeptically, we headed to Rancho Cordova, expecting to be disappointed. Instead we found that the crust exceeded our expectations. Toppings are toppings, not a lot you can do there, and theirs are as good as any. The salad bar is not huge, but is kept stocked with fresh produce and a nice assortment of well-made dressings. They offer a lunch buffet during limited hours, but for just a few cents more, you can have an individual size pizza made to order, along with all-you-can-eat salad bar and drink included. Most places tack on extra for the drink, and usually you have to just eat whatever they put out at the buffet, which may not be what you had in mind. An individual size pizza at Straw Hat is plenty big enough. Probably more pizza than a person ought to eat in a meal anyway, so since it is not from the buffet, you can take half of it home with you for later. The hours for the individual pizza lunch deal run(at this time) until 3 pm, making it more accessible as well. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. It’s our new favorite pizza place in the area, despite being a 20 – 30 minute drive from our home. With a little more attention to clean tables and sprucing up of the décor, it could approach 5 stars.
