I’m not an Indian food junkie but my husband is… I’ll have to say I tried several dishes and enjoyed them. The waiter was very helpful with our questions, and gave good suggestions…

I really liked their service and food. I ordered food here and i said one of the dishes is not upto the mark, they delivered the dish to my hotel immediately that too in the late night. I can see their commitment to provide very good service to the customers. Keep it up.

I just moved here from the bay area and found this place on Unilocal.I was impressed. I have tried several Indian restaurants in the bay area and this one taste like home. The food is great and the customer service was excellent.

I’m hoping I came on a bad day. This review is only for the butter chicken, because honestly thats all I really get at buffets. The chicken was decent, but my god the sauce was like WATER. Honestly don’t think I’ve had a worse sauce in a butter chicken than this. Again it could have just been a bad day. I am will to give it another chance because of all the other reviews.

Phenomenal. Passed by this place on my way to get sushi and thought, «Why not Indian instead?» Walked in and no one was at the counter so I looked through the menu. It didn’t take long for someone to notice me and I was promptly seated. I ordered the shrimp curry(medium spicyness) and my girlfriend ordered a variety tandoori platter(also medium spicyness). The food was beyond anything we could have ever hoped. My shrimp were plump, juicy, fresh, and cooked to perfect. No rubbery seafood here! And my girlfriend’s tandoori was a DREAM! So juicy and tender. The different meats practically melted in your mouth! What made the experience even better was the prices! All of our food only cost us about $ 30. Definitely our new favorite restaurant. Can’t wait to go here again on date night!

I ordered the bread basket and the lamb curry. The bread… is amazing. You can have it with onions, regular, cheese, and more. The bread basket is 5 bucks, contained 3 types of bread. Delicious! For the churry, i expected a bowl, but they brought a bowl of white rice and a thin bowl of the curry with the lamb. The lamb was tender, not chewy, fresh and tasty. The rice was weird, long and weak. The ambiance is great, the place has a fair amount of people in the evening. There is a tv with a playlist of music videos, some of which were innapropriate. Meat and bread is 5 stars.(I vame a second time only for the bread). Rice could be improved. Service is efficient. They also gave me a free appitizer, something Indian, i couldnt tell. I recommend this place.

My friend and I decided to check this place out based on the great Unilocal reviews. It is in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. We went on a Saturday for lunch and were worried it would be packed, but it was completely empty. I never consider that a good sign, but I think they are worth checking out! There was one guy working the restaurant and he was nice(plus unseen cooks in the back). We started off with some water then I got some green tea and my friend got some coffee. I ordered the malai kofta — I hope I spelled that right but it was croquettes filled with homemade cheese, potatoes, and vegetables and served with a creamy and delicious sauce. For $ 3 extra you can get lentil curry, rice, naan which is obviously a must, some kind of chip looking appetizer with dip, chickpeas and potatoes, and something I wasn’t sure what it was. My friend got shrimp tikka masala. We both really liked our food and two more parties came in while we were there. We did enjoy hanging out here chatting for a bit, but the atmosphere isn’t great — I think it would be livened up if they had more customers! The food is good so it’s worth checking out, but for me it was just okay.

Amazing Indian food. Massive portions of deliciousness. Quality, quantity, its got everything! Had the vegetable momos, were on spot. The entrees we upgraded for $ 3 to get lentil soup, naan, rice pudding and chickpeas. Usually for a $ 3 upgrade you get sad side salad but here you get a meal on top of your meal. Vegetable tiki masala was really delicious. Loved all the vegetarian and vegan options!

We’ve been coming here two/three/four times a month since this summer. We used to frequent an indian restaurant in midtown Sac all the time; but the food quality had becoming increasingly poor so we decided to venture out and find a new favorite. I can tell you we’ve never had poor service here, the food is exceptionally consistent, and the flavors are delicious. It’s in a weird old strip mall, by the gym and pizza joint. Looks can be deceiving… the inside is clean and nothing fancy; just nice. The staff is super friendly, sweet, and makes it feel like home. Our favorite dishes are the paneer tikka masala, and the malai kabob. The malai kabob is chicken that comes out on what I would call a fajita plate, all sizzling and hot with sliced red and yellow onions, bell peppers and lime wedges. The chicken gets marinated in some sort of cream cheese mixture with cardamom and other stuff. It is hands down the most tender chicken I’ve ever had. indian food or not. so flavorful and delicious. They serve you a side of tikka masala sauce with it, sooooo good! The naan here is excellent, always slightly cripsy on the bottom and chewy on top. Garlic basil is the best! I definitely prefer my soda with plenty of ice, they usually put just a little in the glass, so if you’re an ice fan make sure to ask for extra. I have nothing but great things to say about this place– I will do my best to singlehandedly keep in it business, I love it so much!

I am originally from India and this was probably the worst Indian food I have had. Ordered the shrimp Vindaloo… Tasted like a Chinese sweet and sour concoction mixed with lemon juice… Awful. The potato /cauliflower stuffed bread were tasteless… The stuffing was minimal— there was no stuffing in over half the bread. The vegetable samosas were good. I will not be visiting this restaurant again.

Absolutely delicious! I got the malai kofta. This is one of those dishes, in my opinion, where it either tastes really good or really not good, and these guys nailed it with this dish! My dad had the lamb biryani and really enjoyed it. Friendly service too. Will definitely be returning :)

Loved It! Great waiter that walked us through choices, flavors, heat factor. It was soooo good on a cold fall day. You could pour the curry sauce on an old tire and I would eat it up! Thanks

Cause I moved away from all my Indian friends I’ve had to search long and hard for a replacement to the delicious food served at their homes. Many tries and many disappointments but finally the light at the end of the tunnel. Been here numerous times for lunch and each time the service is awesome, the staff is super friendly and the food is amazing! Everything from the basic naan, butter chicken, chicken tandoori and the lovely chicken pakora is always fantastic. Hell even their water taste amazingly crisp and refreshing compared to speak other restaurants in area. Hope it never changes, time to pass out now.

Thank you Beebek for treating me so nice after a long days work, I needed some nourishment and your food is excellent. Nice location off Sunrise. This local Indian restaurant has some of the best Indian/Nepalese food I have ever had. Inside the building needs a little work as far as decorations; Beebek, I may have someone to help you with this and we will just do it because we want you to stay in business, as your food is so good. The new furniture is a nice touch but brother you need some help redesigning the layout of your restaurant. Again don’t come here for the decorations; come here for the food. Thank you Indian Spice for such a wonderful meal. You are my go to Indian restuarant when I am in town. They also do excellent take out and. prices are very fair. Give them a try as I am sure you won’t be disappointed

Went here because of the reviews. And most of them were correct, the good ones were. This place is very good. I went there for the buffet lunch. It was excellent. A very good variety of hot and cold items, clean buffet area. The restaurant is very clean, bathroom also. Service was excellent, someone greeted me when I walked in, and my empty plates were taken away before I re-sat down. The nan bread was very good also. Definitely would go back… If I lived in town. Excellent value for $ 10. Thank you for your time.

Had lunch here today with a friend & my daughter– food was amazing– fresh and very flavorful & service was good. We each ordered the vegan sampler which included, chutney, cracker, samosas, dumplings, chickpeas in spicy tomato sauce(mild, medium or hot), cauliflower & potatoes in spicy tomato sauce, saffron rice & whole wheat nan. Also ordered chai to drink. Will definitely return.

Indian Spice restaurant is the latest rebrand at this location. Initially it was Udupi Indian restaurant, which was pretty amazing. I was sad to see it close. There was a Tibet themed restaurant after that then another. I never went to the last two but I heard down the pipeline that they were lackluster. When I saw it reopen as Indian Spice I had high hopes that it was the Udupi owners who had mustered a coup d’état to reclaim their rightful place next to Kaveri Madras in the upper curry echelon in the Sacramento area. In all honesty I have no idea who owns the current restaurant nor any of the previous renditions, but I envision something very George RR Martin esque. My first impression was the plain Jane name. This could go either way. Second impression was the interior remodel. Very nice Indian Spice. It looks like they pulled out all the stops and went with a simple and suitable ambiance. There were a few other tables with patrons. Service was prompt and courteous. We arrived outside buffet hours so we ordered dinner. My wife and I are vegetarians(insert diss from big guy in a camo hat). We were pleased to find options for carnivores, veggies, and vegans alike. Prices were on par with most Indian restaurants. We ordered a vegetarian sampler plate for appetizer. I ordered the saag paneer thali and my wife ordered the veggie tikka masala thali. The waiter asked if we would prefer mild, medium, or hot which was awesome for OG Indian restaurant frequenters such as myself. Medium had a little kick and hot was definitely hot. Everything arrived quickly and was amazing. The veggie plate had little dumplings, samosas, na’an with chutneys. The tamarind chutney was surprisingly good. Most tamarind chutneys are too sweet, this was not the case. The entrees came with a lentil soup. Every other lentil soup I’ve had struggles to be more than just filling lentil paste. This soup was the best lentil soup I’ve ever had. The thali plate came with channa masala, white rice, and two veggie curries(plus selected entrée). Everything was expertly spiced. Kudos Indian Spice. Kudos. While waiting for our meals a sizzling plate of what appeared to be Tandoori Chicken was brought out for not one but two tables. It smelled pretty damn good. Perhaps this is a popular dish here. Carnivores take note. Overall I was very impressed. This is coming from a fat guy who has spent the better part of the last decade putting down curry plates in the area. In my opinion this restaurant and Kaveri Madras Cuisine are the only two suitable Indian restaurants in the area.

At first glance, it appeared to be completely deserted… but determined and hungry, we stood by our choice, mustered our courage, and entered… …and thankfully there was another couple already seated inside — whew! Awkward two-on-one with the waiter avoided. Décor-wise, everything looked clean and fairly new; there’s still a grand opening sign outside even though it seems to have been open for some months now per Unilocal?!Clever advertising indeed. All was fairly quiet as well, which made it easy to hold a conversation without the usual background noise(and easy to accidentally eavesdrop on the booth behind you oops). Thankfully, our server was still friendly and efficient despite the slow evening pace. Dinner prices were pretty reasonable compared to what I’ve seen at other Indian establishments. Boyfriend and I both got entrees for $ 10.99 and a 4-piece basket of garlic naan for $ 1.99. Both my chicken vindaloo and his chef special chicken came with a side of basmati rice and decent portions for the price; we left feeling full and satisfied! I was a little disappointed at how thin and crispy the naan was, instead of being more soft, thick, and warm… and a bit less like burnt toast. The chicken in both of our dishes wasn’t bad, but wasn’t outstanding either, flavor and texture-wise; my medium spicy entrée had about the same amount of heat as the boyfriend’s hot spicy entrée also. Overall, not bad — I’d give it another half-star if I could! I wouldn’t consider it a «drop-everything-and-go-now» destination, but if you’re in the area and happen to be craving some Indian food, it’s not a bad deal. They have a lunch buffet too, so come and fill up!
