This place was pretty good. Let me tell you some great things about Romania. 1. They have a very capable flag. That thing can basically make every color that is out there. All primaries. That’s the way to go. If I was making a flag I’d use those colors too. 2. It is the 9th largest country in the European Union by size, and the 7th largest by population. It’s kind of like the Maui of the EU. Right in the middle. Can’t complain there. 3. The people. Such good people. I love Romanians. 4. In Romania, there are 12.9 million connections to the Internet. 5. See points 1 – 4 above. They are some pretty good points. There you go. That rounds out my list of five great things about Romania. I love Romania and you should too. The ahi tuna appetizer here was pretty good. I also got the jambalaya and was happy that I ordered it. Mostly because I love jambalaya and it’s kind of hard to mess it up. It doesn’t even need to look good when you get it. It’s basically like a meat lover’s soup. They were out of elephant so I didn’t get to try any when I came to visit. I was going to come back the next night but the whole city pretty much caught on fire so I knew that the elephant situation wasn’t likely to change. Maybe next time.

Elephant bar, they used to have the biggest best E-teas in town. However, it’s been years since I’ve been. Decided to go to their Cinco De Mayo all night happy hour. I 1. There’s nothing that healthy other than chicken skewers on their HH menu. 2. They no longer have the biggest best E-teas in town. They come in small pint glasses, same taste but I loved those big glasses. 3. Service took a little longer than expected for a happy hour. Usually they keep the drinks flowing. 4. Lettuce wraps were good. NOT on happy hour. 5. Several other NON happy hour choices. Probably will end up there again because it was good. Just wasn’t that impressed with their happy hour drink or food menu. Maybe come back for a dinner… maybe.

I like how easy it is to get a table here! Its unfortunate that not a lot of people go there because elephant bar is axing food for good prices. I like to come here for a little special dinner. Great place!

The Elephant Bar is pretty consistent, the food is usually good and the service is decent at most locations. We went to this location last night, it was just OK. We had the Calamari, pretty good, small for the price. But tasty. I had a burger with swiss, mushrooms, etc. Sweet Potato Fries. Boyfriend likes his meal just fine too. The service, however, not so good. The server was not super attentive, we were in the bar area, so we could watch the Olympics while we had dinner. Aren’t we in America? Why does the Elephant Bar hate America? It was literally IMPOSSIBLE to get the Olympics on TV. We asked the server to put it on, he was having a hard time… and then just left it on the DirecTV or whatever crappy cable they have blank screen… and took off for a while. A table nearby was also irritated, my boyfriend got up after about 15 min and manually tried to change the channel… the server came back over and was like«Well I can’t find the Olympics, so what did you want to watch?» Well, not a blank screen, thanks bro. Get AT&T Uverse, and start being patriotic.

Had a great time with two friends here. We were between happy hours, so took advantage of the coupon deal and shared a bottle of lovely Riesling. The server was nice, the food was good(not blow me away amazing, but solidly tasty.). The place wasn’t busy so we got to just hang out and catch up as they didn’t rush us. I’d recommend the tilapia dinner– very healthy with green beans and the tilapia wS seasoned nicely. We also enjoyed the sampler platter to share(artichoke dip, crispy coconut shrimp skewers, and chicken.). And the chicken salad was a little too sweet for my taste, but the greens were nice. Total bill for us was a about $ 65! Long live coupons!

I hadn’t been to the Elephant Bar in years. But it was close to my mom’s house, so we took her there for her birthday last night. I’ve enjoyed the atmosphere in the past, but everything else was unremarkable. Last night, however, I was to totally impressed with everything. We were seated quickly, and the first round of drinks were at the table right away. Our waiter(David E) was funny, attentive and knew the menu well. Can’t say enough good about him. It’s been a long time since I’ve had server that good. The food was exceptional. This was another big surprise. Far better than previous visits, and a great deal for the price.

Here’s a question, YTF is this place still in business?! –I’d say, about 15 – 20 years ago, this place would be acceptable, but not today. Well, here the gist of it: Horrible food & service –I’m pretty sure the rubbery chicken(that came out just in time for dessert) made me sick, which ultimatelyhad to call out of work the next day. Yes, I bite my thumb at you Elephant Bar.

So what happens when you eat at the same place time after time and order the same thing but each time it comes out different? The service is always good always consistent. But the food varies from night to night. I’ll be back because of the location and service and because 50% of the time the food is spot on great. For the volume and long term existence of the EB it wouldn’t be difficult to create consistency in the kitchen.

I see a few negative reviews and I’m a little surprised… not really. What they lack: Quick service(Ultra slow, to refill, service and bring out your order) Warmth(Yes, it is always ice cold in there) Dessert(Giant cookie sandwich w/Ice cream = a mess /stale cookie/melted Ice Cream) What i loved: Ahi Tuna salad… yum. Hmmm… that was it, I’ve had a few of their dishes which were all good, but the one that stands out, and the reason why I go back(Not just due to the convenient location) is the Ahi Salad. Its worth the slow service and cold environment.

Pulling up this Unilocal business listing sure did catch me off guard. Why? Well, those first few photos sure don’t look like the food that comes out of this kitchen! These moments frozen in time display food that is masterly prepared and presented with with precision on the plate. In reality it generally looks like it was pulled directly from the microwave and half-heartedly tossed onto the waiting dish. Ten years ago Elephant Bar would have been a strong four star rating for me but it struggles to even reach three at this point. Here’s why… It wasn’t until I migrated South that I realized that Rancho Bernardo is a bubble. A bubble full of strip malls and stock restaurants serving the masses. The inability to attract well trained chefs has left this town full of restaurants like Elephant Bar. These places thrive off of coupons delivered to the front door of senior citizens waiting for the next place to save a few bucks. With this being said, the food suffers. I once though that E-Bar had decent ribs… until I actually had a rib cooked correctly. The bad part is that over time it seems to have only become worse. Typically the service is on par with the quality of the food here and the atmosphere almost drains the life from you. Do yourself a favor and get the hell out of RB and see what food actually tastes like — you may be surprised! They have tried to stay current and update the menu, but for me it just doesn’t cut it. For RB this place is a four star, for the rest of the world it lives in the realm of three with the likes of Chilli’s and Applebee’s.

Came here for Wednesday wine specials A couple of things I have noticed Slow service in food and drinks I feel bad for the server, maybe it was not her fault but running a restaurant is a team effort. It took them 25 minutes for some prepared salad. Apparently it was rocket science. I probably will not go back.

Date night! We got a great coupon for 2 for $ 20. We ad the option of sharing the wok fired lettuce wraps or fish tacos or the crème brûlée dessert. Then you got to pick one entrée from a choice of 6: Petite filet, 5 Spice Chicken Arugula salad, Korean Chicken and Ribs, Chicken Marsala, Blackened Tilapia or Crispy Honey Shrimp. We were given a 10 minute wait which was spot on. Once seated, we got lots of good attention from Morgan, our server even though he was super busy. I ordered a 16oz Blue Moon. Speedy and when we old him about our coupon, he wasn’t annoyed. He just asked what apps we would want so he could get them started. We ordered the Wok Fired Lettuce Wraps. AHMAZING!!! Tender chicken, coconut, macademia nuts in butter lettuce wraps with a mango citrus salsa on the side. Super yum and I highly recommend! We were nervous to get our entrees because the app was so good. But even our entrees were good. I got the Marsala and I asked for a sub on the mashed potatoes. They brought sauteed garlic spinach(yum) and green beans. Good stuff. Husband got the chicken and ribs(big surprise!), with brown rice and sauteed veggies. All solid choices. All in all, very very pleased with the app(5 stars) and Morgan(5 stars) and solid 3 ½ –4 stars on the entrees. Definitely worth a visit!

Got the hand breaded chicken tenders with mac & cheese and a side of coleslaw. Our service was a little slow. The place wasn’t overly crowded and there was plenty of parking today(Monday evening). I’ve come before and could not find a parking spot. It’s not a big lot and gets full and hard to find parking sometimes. It’s located on the corner of West Bernardo Drive and Rancho Bernardo Road. The food was average. Nothing really outstanding and most of the dishes are over $ 10. The chicken tenders were nice and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The coleslaw was very bland and the mac & cheese was kind of meh! The server was okay, just seemed to be slow getting our meals and then we were delayed because our server gave one of our meals out to another person at another table so we waited to eat out of courtesy. One of my friend’s had cold fries(even when it first came out). She didn’t want to complain, but I will here! I had water to drink and was not asked if I wanted a refill(I did), but I shouldn’t have to ask! For the prices you have to pay, I would expect more for my money.

Those happy hour prices are undeniable! $ 4 for a Long Island = I was fooled by the amount of ice they had in the cup because that was a strong mixture, which is a lot coming from me – Long Island is like my second nature. $ 6 for Quick Seared Ahi Tuna = quality tuna, tasty. $ 5 for Tempura Salmon roll=fair share of sushi, not the best but still a good fix. $ 4 for hand-breaded chicken tenders=not appetizing and didn’t enjoy it. Prices are great, next time I will try their burger deal instead of the chicken tenders.

Every office space has at least one guy with a thing. No… not that thing. You know… like Youtube guy or Ebay girl, Unilocaler girl, fantasy football guy… etc. Well, you wouldn’t expect someone with a thing in a restaurant especially in front of the customers. Well, today the bartender happened to be the«Facebook status guy». It was kinda funny at first. He would start a Guiness pour, then go straight to his phone to do his Facebook status, then go back just in time to finish his pour. Pretty impressive, but as the night progressed, it kinda got annoying. Annoying to the point where when I needed something, I felt the need to not interrupt his Facebook status and wait until he was done before I can get some extra water or whatever. The sad part is that I believe management knows about his Facebook status addiction, and they don’t do anything about it. On to the food. I had the cravings for their ultimate bacon cheeseburger. Note: They can only cook the burger to medium well or darker. Sorry, no medium rare for me. Came with a side, so I went with their fries. The burger was decent, not bad actually. The fries on the other hand were horrible. It’s like they pulled it straight out of the oil but never drained any excess oil out. For dessert, I went with their mini fudge brownie with ice cream. Finally, something positive came out of this visit. A good way to finish from a semi-lousy evening. Anyhoo, they do have a happy hour if you’re still interested in coming up here. Monday thru Friday from 3−7pm and daily after 10pm. They have a special menu with deals for those time periods. The ambiance was decent. Was it a jungle like theme? or some sort of army camouflage type of deal? Wasn’t sure, but at least it was different than to what I was used to. But still, not enough to warrant a future visit. Thanks.though…I’ll make sure to update my Facebook status on what happened here tonight. Word!
